My wife knows a player who we’re concerned about, he played solidly to level 57 and was online at regular times daily but has not been online in 3 weeks now. He had also started a new alt character recently and didn’t seem at all likely to suddenly quit overnight. He had mentioned suffering from depression in the days before going offline and it is out of character for him to have taken a break without saying anything about it. Does anyone know if there is any way to reach out to a player with only a character name and server name? He plays with a different guild than us so don’t really know any other players in common to ask and can’t remember the name of his guild. I know it’s a long shot but if anyone can suggest anything it would be appreciated. I obviously need to respect his privacy so I’ve kept the details to a minimum but we’re worried about him.
GMs aren’t in a position to share details either, and it’s not part of their job description to act as a messenger service. This is also a game, where you can remain as strangers if you so choose to. You have no way to find out about that other person.
The most you can hope for is asking around on the server if anyone has that person’s btag, or ask around on social media like twitter, reddit and so on, but with actual details to point that person out.
I would begin by asking in the public channels of his server whether someone recalls the guild tag of this player, then proceeding to contact officers of said guild about whether they know anything of him/her or a way to direct message this player (battletag, discord etc.)
If you think someone is suicidal and have some actual reason for that you should contact support and give them the info, if not, you should leave people alone.
Probably nothing you can do here. There is not much to go on. You have nothing concrete here and blizzard can not disclose any information to the authorities without so much as a shred of evidence i guess.
Blizzard won’t pass info on but if the concerns are real they may be able to contact that person themselves via email I guess. Whether or not they actually would do that I have no idea though
You could ask a question in a ticket like is the player still on, make sure you say you don’t want to know the new characters name and just want to make sure the player is okay.
But if you were friends, wouldn’t you have their RealID? or at least their battletag?
