Is there a way to set WoW Classic as the default version?

So that I don’t have to change it every time from retail to Classic via the scrolling menu. Sometimes I’m too hasty and click on play without doing it, and it’s a bit annoying as I don’t play retail anymore.

Thanks.

It stays to classic default, if you don’t swap back to retail.

Really ?! For me it simply doesn’t.
Are we both talking about the launcher ?

Yeah, mine sticks to classic default once loading the bnet launcher - Provided I never loaded up retail beforehand.

Other option would be to uninstall retail, so you don’t load it up by mistake ;p
Or are you hitting “World of warcraft” to load up the launcher instead of bnet?

Mine is always retail default and never classic. And, I haven’t played retain in 1+ year. Don’t know how to set it up.

I took a look at the battle net settings and I don’t know why yours doesn’t default to last played.

It doesn’t solve your exact problem with the launcher. But using the shortcuts on the desktop to start WOW completely removes the need to select anything in battlenet. Have both Classic and Retail shortcuts on the desktop and just click on whatever you want to play. Fast, simple and easy. :grinning:

P.S. You could also drag them onto your taskbar, if you want.

Not sure what you mean by bnet, but yeah I’m hitting the “World of Warcraft” exe in order to open the launcher

Checked them too, no option to set the default version of WoW you wanna play

Think that’s what I’m down to, although I like to keep tracks of the latest news via the launcher.

He’s talking about the wow.exe

I see. That one doesn’t even open for me… wonder why.

EDIT : Problem solved !
For those who want to know how I did, I found out that the Launcher I was using is the one contained in the main World of Warcraft folder in the Program Files folder, which seems to be linked to the Retail version of WoW. In the classic folder, there’s another “World of Warcraft Launcher.exe” which has classic as a default version of the game (makes sense considering the folder).

Ty all for your answers, I don’t think I’d have thought about meddling in these folders without your replies
