Is There Seriously No Gender Option In WOTLK PTR?

Female chromosomes & reproductive organs.

Point being, why remove the label of male/female in character creation?

I know why, so you can’t give your characters a specific gender, to appease the small minority who believe nobody is actually a gender unless they state which gender they feel like today.

This is my opinion btw, but no one is advocating to be genderless.

Gender is a spectrum and everyone is on a part of it. There can be people who don’t identify as either and are very much in the middle who identify as non-binary, there can be transwomen like me who very much sit in female, or gender fluid people who can change where they sit on it.

Gender should very much be a part of wow imho, if you read my post a bit further up, it a change in the right direction, but far from a perfect option of which gender would absolutely be a part of.

Your knowledge in this area seems to be somewhat lacking.

How would you define someone born with XY chromosomes, AIS and female genitalia?

How would you define someone born with XXY, XYY or XO chromosomes and female genitalia?

How would you define someone born with XX chromosomes and MRKH syndrome (which can include absence of the uterus and/or cervix)?

What’s stopping you giving your characters a specific gender? Please tell me which of the characters in this screenshot doesn’t have a gender: https:// puu.sh/JfYXo/b8493c2a77.png

Bobby-boy at it again. I love how you go true to style here and take joking serious and seriosity as a joke
It would be nice if you cited all the context, not only the part you want to address.

I say one last time in plain text that this change irritates me. Because it’s confusing for me to remember if body type 1 or body type 2 is the male one. I have a word-type of mind. I cannot rmember those two symbols from another without a long, menmonic detour. Plus I do not see very well. But handicaps like these, I have learned the long, hard way, must always give way for gender-fluid persons or symbol policy.

  1. Female with medical conditions
  2. Female with medical conditions
  3. Female with medical conditions

They all have medical conditions.

The removal of gender selection.
Body type doesn’t define gender.
Or does it?

They’re not numbered ingame. The fact that you think they are leads me to believe that you haven’t even seen them.

Here they are: https:// puu.sh/JfZWM/5189cc1429.png

Are you seriously trying to claim that you can’t determine which of these two symbols is the “male” one?

But XY chromosomes aren’t female - so the definition you gave previously doesn’t hold up. It’s almost as if sex and gender aren’t as simple as you’re trying to make them!

There’s a non-zero possibility that you’re intersex yourself, you know. Have you ever had an ultrasound for e.g. a kidney stone? Many people find out that they have e.g. ovaries and a uterus despite being “male” in those circumstances.

But it hasn’t been removed. You still choose it for yourself, the same as always.

Wdym it hasn’t been removed? You are only able to pick body type 1 or 2 on the PTR literally what this whole thread is about.

I ain’t clicking your links bro

Yes that is true! But this person which you speak of has a medical condition affecting their reproductive systems.

Thanks I do not have Beta-access still - tried jumping through all hoops but so far no luck - so this is the first time I see the new Body-type symbols. Visually easier to me - do they show Body type 1/2 on click, like the “planet symbols” now show Male /Female?
These symbols should actually be MORE offensive to gender-fluids that the “planet symbols” we have now

You just said yourself that Body Type doesn’t define gender. If that’s the case, why does the Body Type option prevent you from choosing your gender?

Also, they’re not numbered ingame. The fact that you think they are leads me to believe that you haven’t even seen them. I recommend you load up the PTR and have a look.

Given that you acknowledge that the definition you previously gave doesn’t hold up, do you have a new definition? Please provide it.

It seems slightly weird to me that you’ve been arguing against them so angrily without ever having seen them. Also, the PTR is freely available to everyone and you can see the changes there as well as on Beta.

I’m glad that you can distinguish them okay. Nope - the left or “male” icon is selected in my screnshot, and the text is Body Type whichever one you have selected.

I don’t see how. I’d think having to pick either Male or Female at character creation would make a gender-fluid person feel more “locked in” than just choosing a body type - but, again, it’s a very small difference and a very small change in the grand scheme of things.

It’s on the PTR at the moment so you can check it out, no beta needed

I don’t think you should really be commenting on what you assume offends them, but genderfluid people still have a body type, even if it doesn’t match what blizzard are offering at the moment.

All it does it take away a forced binary gender aspect and allows the player to choose. With the new barbershop too, if they are gender fluid, then it allow them to change as they see fit, which again is a good and inclusive thing.

As I had mentioned earlier, this is not a good system to cover the options for non-binary, genderfluid or character choice in general, more customisation would offer that, and gender should absolutely be a part of the game.

What this absolutely is though is a good step in the right direction so that we know that blizzard is open to change for the sake of inclusivity, but how they do that is what needs to change.

Does not work for me, I tried everything, all testrealms I get is only Retail :GRR:

You are no longer able to pick male or female.

Why do you keep going on about ‘they’re not numbered in game’, you have 2 selections, the first one, or the second one. Hence Body type 1 or 2… Regardless what is your point?

If someone is born without and arm, or without a leg, or with only 8 toes do we teach that humans have a spectrum of limbs?

Why can’t you pick male or female?

Yes, obviously. I wouldn’t want a child to feel that they’d done something wrong or should feel bad about being born with 8 toes.

Please provide a definition of “biological female” that accounts for the fact that you consider individuals with XY chromosomes, AIS and female genitalia to be “biological females”.

Honestly I have no clue what’s going before every new expansion.

Beta, PTR, kebab/cevap…

I signed up for beta 5 days ago and yesterday I could access TBC Ptr
Maybe I just got lucky?

So male/female is removed then.

Nope. Your character can be male or female, exactly as before. If you think there’s a difference, please name it. Will Tuskkari no longer be your chosen gender when the patch goes live? Why, and how can you tell?

No, it just takes away the forced binary of male and female. My character is body type 2, which is a more feminine body type, and for all intents and purposes I go around and play my character as a female and if anyone asks, I’m a female. It’s part of the choice of role play

Someone just now has the option of saying them are non-binary for example. Your character is still male if you select body type 1, cause that is just a customisation option, the gender part is down to you.

I did by asking you to read his replies properly?
I ask you to read his replies because you answer something that isn’t being said, that is not proving points

I did not, I can’t even understand how you got to that conclusion… But I finally inderstand some of the responses I have gotten, no ones reads any replies

why would I do that, you don’t even bother to read any replies… The conversation is over, you talk to yourself :man_shrugging:
