Is There Seriously No Gender Option In WOTLK PTR?

It’s always interesting to see how people try to reframe losing an argument.

Any time you want to address the actual points at hand, feel free

Please do youself a favour and actually read what those you respond to write, no wonder these threads is so full of misunderstandings if people don’t even read responses, so I don’t think your point is valid as you didn’t respond to his writings

Heyyy everyone, it’s me again  I thought I pop back after a few days to see how you were all getting on and try and move this in a positive direction, as I think there a long list of incorrect assumptions being made on all sides.

I am a trans woman, and I identify as a woman and have done for years. The character I play is also a woman.

Am I happy with gender options being in the game? absolutely. I like to play a character that I feel represent me in someway, so I like my character to be female and have no issue personally with the way it was before.

Do I think the new change is good? Again absolutely. I think it’s a way of making a small change that should be insignificant to be more inclusive for all types of people who want to make a character that resonates with them. This could be anyone on the spectrum of male to female, including as I’ve said before masculine women, feminine men and non-binary people as an example.

I know me and Bob has said this multiple times, but Gender is not being removed from the game, it’s only a reshuffle of the customisation options. Body type is now a character customisation option, and Gender is removed from the customisation screen and is now whatever you were before or choose for your character going forward. It is totally up to you.

Now the problem, is the way blizzard has done this change perfect? Absolutely not, it is the absolute bare minimum they could have done, and comes with some major problems.

The main issue with this is reception. It doesn’t matter what the change is, if it isn’t landing in the right way or correctly communicated this causes an issue. This is evident by the fact that as a general consensus from a lot of people in this thread, that this is not a welcome change and feels like “woke” “Pandering” “Political” pushyness.

This shouldn’t have been the case as I can see what blizzard is trying to do, and the last think I want is backlash on the LGBT+ community because people feel this is being pushed on them.

Me being me is not a political issue btw and whether you believe it or not, being a trans personal is very difficult and I face issues from the general public, the government and businesses all the time. I just want to live my life and being who I am but in most cases it’s not easy for me.

Sooo the solution. In my opinion should gender stay in the game? Yes, it should be something you can specify yourself on the character screen, either via free text which could cause issues or a set of pre-defined genders. I would think that Male, Female and non-binary would suffice.

There should also be more character customisation options available, including being able to swap between voices, body type, secondary sex characteristics to name a few.

That means that you want to be a male with all the male characteristics, you sure can. Feel like you’re non-binary and need something bit different to what they’re offering now, that would be possible.

I think this would cover everyone in that case, so you’ll still get what you want, and other people still get their inclusive options to express themselves.

I don’t really care about representation in video games or other type of media and I will gladly play whatever character as long as I like the design and the backstory. Does not matter if it’s female or male.
Not everyone believes that gender is a spectrum and those people have the right to their opinion as well. This spectrum thing is really just a construct of people living so comfortably they have to make up issues and ideologies to stand behind in order to feel like they belong somewhere.

Anyway for me it’s sad to see that Blizz spends resources on something like this just to tick a box with a very very small part of their community in order to appeal to everybody.

But if I was in the shoe of people who actually care about this kind of representation in video games than I would be offended that that they don’t go far enough and include genitalia sliders and autotuned male to female voices or whatever.

No offense, but when you’re going back and forth over your ego about who’s right and there’s literally a mass wall of text, I really do not have the time to go back and forth. AND additionally, you even proved my point with your message so still, my point is valid without having to go ahead and read.

YOU ended up proving my point btw.

There you go, now you can return to your quoting fest.

Nobody has said otherwise, and you can still play a male or female character exactly as before. This has nothing to do with World of Warcraft, though.

Intersex people provably exist, which obviously makes the gender binary incomplete at best. This has nothing to do with World of Warcraft, though.

How long do you think this took? It’s swapping two texture files and players have already made addons that replicate the change client-side.

Yeah, more character customisation options would be good and as Yakkusso has pointed out the change they’ve made is basically the smallest and lowest-effort change they could have made.

If you don’t have time to take part in the conversation, that’s fine. Nobody is making you.

What science are you referring to here? Do you deny that people whose chromosomal sex is inconsistent with their phenotypic sex exist?

Also, real life biology has nothing to do with World of Warcraft.

There are two genders, male and female. Known since forever.
If you have a masculine female, eg someone who is less typically built like a female or someone who has preferences that are typical to the opposite gender, doesn’t make them part of the opposite gender.

It’s just simply not true.

In warcraft, year 2022 there is no need for warcraft races. I think its highly problematic just like gender was. Also remove racial abilities/passive stuff. I mean, just read the Tauren description “May stomp, stunning nearby opponents”??? HELLO, Not every Tauren likes to stomp on people and the only thing they might want to stun these people with, Is their beautiful and stunning looks.

Blizzard you previously did a good job with diablo immortals (yes i have phones, many phones) and even more so with the recent body type 1 and 2 options.

Now you just gotta remove the races and the abilities that comes with picking a Warcraft race. Replace the order of “orc, undead, tauren, troll , blood elf” with “person 1, Person 2, person 3, Person 4, Person 5”. Or maybe “Individual 1, 2, 3, 4, 5”.

This change would make the game more inclusive. believe it or not there are most certainly people who hate on gnomes, orcs, blood elves and even night elves. This would most certainly remove some of the hate.

You haven’t answered the question: Do you deny that people whose chromosomal sex is inconsistent with their phenotypic sex exist?

Masculine women are women as I’ve said, that’s not up for debate here.

Trans people exist and are who they say they are too. Again, that is not up for debate either hun

Come on, that’s just trolling now naughty naughty

Who’s debating whether trans people exist? When did I say they don’t?

I didn’t say you said that either. It’s just fact

Transmale are still biological females, transfemales are still biological males.

Not a dig, just truth.

It’s no secret that I was assigned male at birth, but my gender is female

What constitutes a “biological female” in your mind? Chromosomal/genotypic sex, phenotypic sex or something else?

Also, again, this has nothing to do with World of Warcraft adding the words “Body Type” to the character creation screen.
