Is there still a point in mana?

I have noticed that on my fire mage I never use more than 2k mana and always stay near full…I can’t even remember the last time I had to use drinks…Is there still a point in mana being there? Elemental shamans and Balance druids get a different source for spells maybe all classes should have this?

All dps have other resources for spells(well, except arcane mages?).

Mana is for defensive abilities and healing.

Still using mana on my fire mage… I think warlocks also still use mana

They use mana, but as far as I know, not to dps. I haven’t been fire since early Legion though.

They do use it to dps. And as it never runs out (atleast not on fire I think arcane was more taxing on mana before) I wonder what the point is of having mana still…

As a fire mage your resource mechanics to do dps is the hot streak/fire blast management actually.

Mana is there to avoid spell like “spellsteal” spam i think.

I don’t remember fire, but there is a seperate resource to boost dps. For balance it’s Astral Power, warlocks got Soul Shards, shadow priest Insanity, and so on.

It’s mostly for healing spells.
A druid dps can go oom very quickly after using heals.
Paladin dps is out of mana relatively quickly as well when using healing skills.
Pretty much the only reason we still have mana is for healing and arcane mages.

Indeed, I can get about three casts max with self heals before I’m oom

The current resource managment is something I will never be able to get behind.

Ah yes true I suppose  A shame kind of…you don’t have to watch your mana anymore as you used to

Defensive abilities*

Any defensive ability, including healing, cost mana. For mages spell stealing, decursing or whatever else is left in their toolbox.

I think I can throw out 4 Regrowths if I don’t have the Restoration Affinity

True. Forgot about that

I also have the selfheal talent on my druid. Saved my life a couple of times

No, but you watch resources.

If you wish to watch mana, healing roles still uses the mechanic.

Yes, for healers mostly.

DPS don’t really have to worry a lot.

Try arcane spec :stuck_out_tongue:

…and that.

I know…but it wasn’t like that before! I don’t even think mana is that big of an issue on healers either

Gameplay wise they seem to be straying away from it in a resource management sense but i think it’s still very important code-wise to how the game functions, like how the abilities work on a base level so they can probably not get rid of it entirely.
