Is this game for me? Much time consuming?

So I am on leave right now and will end in 2 months. I started playing wow classic at launch date and so far I have created 11 characters! Some of them are in the range 15-23, some others 10. I can’t decide what char to main and I have some stress when I read guides that talking about pvp and raids. I don’t know what a raid looks like, what pvp looks like ( exception is the battleground I see on a twitch channel, maybe some finals?) and I don’t want to see them right now. But I guess that raids and pvp are the most important things when you reach level 60.

I don’t know if I will manage to hit 60 ever, with this plsystyle I make, if I don’t decide to focus only on one character, but if I hit 60 then will I able to go on raids and pvp? I read about special groups organizing, many add-ons, macros, knowledge of the game and most important, TIME. And I won’t have time when my job will start. Maybe I will play only some hours per week. Even now on my leave, I play only 3,4 hours per day only at night, cause I have a small baby to babysit. The rest day maybe I play also another 1,2 hour but nothing important just some grinding or walking. And I know that game needs time, some dungeons maybe need 2 hours to complete and I don’t know anything about raids.

Also I don’t know if I will have the skill so I can belong to a good guild. I see on chat most times they look for specific roles for dungeons. This is crazy, why just can’t enjoy the game? Don’t know I am really confused…

basically what Kyl said.

play at your own pace and dont stress yourself over guides, raids, bgs, how much you can play each week or level 60.

the most important reason is that you re having fun and make friends while you re at it.

when you re level 60 im sure you will find a guild which suits your schedule.

yeah this game is time - intensive but you dont have to rush and can do things at your own pace.

Frankly this is a time consuming game. you need to realise that. 3,4 hours per night should be enough to be able to enjoy the game but 1 or 2 hours? no you will barely do anything at that rate.

Your not under any obligation to max or play x amount of hours per day / week.

World of warcraft in general be it classic or retail is a game you play however you want.

if you wanna spend 2 hours fishing every day then you do you.

Never ever think you have to be doing what everyone else is doing because wow is about doing w/e you want.

Pick a character and use it, it doesn’t really get any simpler than that. Worry about dungeons and PvP later, it isn’t a race, so stop treating it like one; you’ll find you’ll enjoy the game a lot more with the pressure off, and you’ll become better at it simply through playing.

If you’re getting this stressed over a dumb game, I suggest seeing your to a GP, frankly.

The wonderful thing about Classic (and I will scream if they ever make TBC servers for this exact reason) is that nothing becomes outdated or irrelevant. Anything you achieve or earn will still be just as relevant now or in 6 months time.

Take your time, play at your own pace and you’ll get there eventually. Don’t base your experience on what you see streamers doing. Most of them have rushed to 60 and won’t have anything to do in a month.

Level multiple characters. It’s not a bad thing at all. They’re all so different and the progression aspect is really nice. I find it hugely more enjoyable than facerolling the keyboard levelling a character in BFA that’s for sure.

Try and find a casual, social guild, they will be more than willing to help you out with advice and explanations if you need them.

WoW Classic does take time, but there is no rush unless you are going for world firsts etc (which have already been done for a lot of things), so take your time, play when you can and enjoy the game. You will get to 60 eventually, and when you do you will have a far better idea of the game and your character and what you are looking for in endgame content.

As far as we know Classic isn’t going anywhere so take your time and enjoy it. Maybe in a few years you will still be playing your character, but with a toddler bouncing on your knee excited about everything they can see in game, a few more years and they will have their own account and be playing along side you, that might be your endgame.

play what you feel you like to play. don’t read anything. i never do (i do it after so i can find what to do with my char). i just play what seem nice and appealing to me. this thing is love at first sight.

find what you like and play no matter what you read in guides etc, most of the guides are people that mix maxing and they believe that if you have +1 more strength or +2 of “something” is what matters.

Apparently numbers matter to something but not in a way that they will make me have dilemmas, i don’t i feel like that, i feel that i am a rogue or a troll hunter in this world and that is all that matters. the rest are not for me
i hope i helped you

You’re like a tourist who has just arrived, unpacked and making his way to the hotel bar, while stressing out about doing the ironing two weeks later when you get back home.

In other words, you’re playing low level characters and are spending all your time thinking about end game content in the distant future, and not focusing on the present.

Classic isn’t like that. It’s about the journey not the destination.

Stop hopping all over alts. Decide which class you enjoy playing the most. Forget about end game for now, forget about macros shmacros, addons, and shmadons… take a deep breath and start having fun.

Why exactly does it matter if it takes you a long time to level up? What’s the big rush?

Do some quests during the time you have to play, when battlegrounds are released, do some BGs. Join a social guild, run some dungeons, start working on a profession… forget about the rest for now. End game will still be there a year from now, and in all likelihood five years from now.

You are on the wrong forum to ask this question, here everyone will tell you to take your time and enjoy it at your own pace, that Classic is a game where everyone can do whatever they want, but reality is way different.

There is barely any solo content at max level, so unless you find a nice and sweet guild which will aid you with group content you are forced to compete with people who know what they are doing and were faster than you. Which would not be fun for me.

The bgigest mythos is that classic is more timeconsuming than bfa

in fact its less time consuming than bfa (except you just do wq/lfr stuff)

Play the way you want to. If it’s not a priority for you to hit 60 on a single character and you prefer to split your time across many then go for it. Obviously it is a lot easier to concentrate on one and then try the various content on it.

I know it can be hard to decide what you want to play. I love Paladins in Retail so I was really keen to try one in Classic. Sadly the game play is very different and I didn’t enjoy it so I’m now a Hunter instead

Dungeons are group content that require a Tank, a Healer and three Damage Dealers. Some groups will just want to cleave their way through dungeons and farm XP and that usually requires specific class types, others will just do dungeons normally and will form a group with any Tank/Heal/DPS combination to complete it.

Raids obviously require a lot more players. There are players of all levels in guilds and raid teams. There are casual, semi hardcore and hardcore guilds. Just avoid any semi or hardcore guilds and you should be fine

It is incredible time consuming for somebody who doesnt know what they are doing but wishes to experience the content (quests dont handhold you, raids require specific attunements and 40 ppl)

Its less time consuming for someone who knows exactly what they are doing and what they want.

BFA is inverse, its less time consuming for someone without any plans or aspirations (Quests handhold you, you can easily join LFR and do a raid if you dont have the aspiration to be a good player), but more time consuming for top end players who want to “100%” it.

I’d say try not to worry about it. Try to pick a class you felt comfortable with and just keep exploring and leveling. Chances are, any questions you have about raiding can be found on youtube. It might seem a little intimidating at first but it’s really not so bad, and addons are easy to install too, so no sweat!

This game is time consuming, however every mmorpg out currently is time consuming - it’s the way they are supposed to be. Classic just takes longer to do the same things, for some people, we like that sense of progression!

Even if you’re 60 by Christmas, or even February - who cares?

One piece of advice I would give, just for the sake of easiness - pick a pure dps class, if you level a hybrid to 60, you might find your chosen playstyle is harder to find a raid for. (Hybrid = druid, paladin, Shaman)

I think it highly comes down to what you want out of the game.

I used to be able to spend six hours a day on the game, now it´s a maximum of two, because my real life blessed me with both family and work.

But I´m alright with a limited game time, because I know it matters, the community matters, the friendships matters, way more in Classic than they do in retail.

And that is what I play for. And the immersion and old quests and slow pace too, of course

And the less I play, the more entertainment I will have for years to come, since I will not run out of quests easily, what a bonus

As for Dungeon runs and players looking for a specific role - and If you are just looking for a place to call home for your character; I´d recommend joining a friendly guild, that are less strict about group composition.

There are a lot of social guilds out there, that run dungeons on a daily basis, some even use forum or Discord to plan them ahead, to make it time efficient.

For me, personally, with just two hours a day - I might not have the time to both search for a group, travel there and finish the Dungeon. So being in a guild that can plan ahead, and say, “At 8 PM we will enter Shadowfang Keep tomorrow” - I ensure, that I will be able to stay till the end.

Good luck ahead to you, Lazarostat. Focus on the journey, because it can be truly magnificient. :four_leaf_clover:
