Is this real?

Never in my lifetime i would expect such a huge Classic Vanilla comeback with so many people again playing it.

Time to grab my luck and chance to enjoy it again <3

About time.

Welcome home mate!

I still can’t believe Classic got such a boom. I came to it when it was low populated because there wasn’t any other content that interested me. Now it is like playing on megaserver again

I can imagine the devs staring at their screens with their jaws on the floor and a bead of sweat running down their foreheads, while observing the massive influx of players either returning to Era, or starting there for the first time, as Bobby Kotick goes berserk in his office.

This is probably the last thing Blizzard wanted to happen.
They purposely let the Classic project rot and fill up with botters, goldbuyers and other game-breaking heathens over time, hoping that the massive thorn in their side - the Classic Andies - would quit Wrath Classic and go (back?) to Retail and their shiny new product that is Dragonflight.

On top of that, the Classic Andies Extraordinaires - those who were on Era servers this entire time - would surely finally be so discouraged and tired of being neglected and forgotten about that they’d leave; and thus, Blizzard could permanently delete the Era servers. The Classic project’s imminent death would only remain 'till Arthas fell once again to the last human remnants in the Wrath Classic realms.
Heck, Blizzard even didn’t give the TBC fans legacy servers to begin with just to spare themselves from torturing their Classic playerbase. I guess their utter contempt for us all can’t even justify the misery we’ve been put through at times.

Blizzard indeed wanted and purposely let Classic suffer, so that they wouldn’t have to release Cata again and focus on pleasing their much-hated Classic customers who would surely demand legacy servers for the ever-increasing number of Classic WoW games. The current devs’ egos simply cannot accept the fact that some people enjoy older versions of the game. Versions that said devs didn’t have anything to do with.

Anyway, Blizzard did achieve something in this sinister plan of theirs. They managed to nearly kill Era servers entirely by releasing Classic versions of TBC and Wrath. They made sure that TBC Classic was a brief and somewhat forgettable experience in the Classic Project (this was of course made possible by the Go Go Go Parsing Andies’ insatiable thirst for rushed content), and now with Wrath we’re seeing a loved version of the game in such a pitiful, bastardised state that it actually makes me feel a bit sad, since I was very excited to rediscover Northrend. I don’t think I need to explain what is wrong with Wrath Classic that hasn’t already been said multiple times, thus far.

However, with all that said, Blizzard surely did NOT expect the large number of people quitting Wrath Classic to pick the supposedly dead Era servers over their own product that is Dragonflight. And seeing the insane and rapid rise of population in these original Classic servers is bound to make some of the devs - and certainly Bobby - to lose their ever-collective sh**.
It has almost reached the point where they’ve had enough of this and just delete the Era servers in pure, venomous spite (but of course, they’d pretend that it was somehow in everyone’s best interest to do so). We almost gotta be careful with our joy here, friends!

Damn, I’m rambling like a complete nutcase here.

Welcome home!!! :house_with_garden:

I have a different theory.

They realized Era was going nowhere and that the loyalty of the people playing it was leagues above anything else they offered. Era OGs simply never quit the game.

They also saw the community engage in self-promotion in a way that no other community did. This led to Aggrend join us on discord and open up a line of communication with us. They finally ackowledged our voice.

Then eventually they made a few calls to Asmongold and some other paid “influencers” to make a few videos and populate this servers as a sort of “reward” or “super low cost project”, hoping that people would stay as much as OG players.

So far the surge has been biblical. But to be completely honest, who wouldn’t want to play here lol

The only problem we have at the moment are bots, which in turn promote GDKPs and boosting. We have to make a good case for Blizzard to solve this. Otherwise the game is at a GREAT point.

It’s awesome! My friends and I got bored of Wotlk rather quickly and wanted to jump onto some good old vanilla and didn’t expect any population whatsoever  who knew it boomed! We are fighting over questmobs each zone! Loving it! Era HYPE :star_struck:

Yes the hit and success classic era right now is outstanding and no fresh/som will do, look at the pvp realms
“full” and soon locked, can you say the same about any kind of som? They wont even reach full and in 2 weeks they gonna drop back to low
If you want classic wow there you go, you have alive and healthy. Also pvp system seems to got paced up after SoM making it easyer for sure to rank, we got chronoboon where u can even pop buffs or not, there is no gold selling in pve and no boosting, and there is an open community where u can join all kind of content since day one u hit 60y, without restrictions or requirements, like be guild member or get “X” gear score or bring full consumables, get hit capped and are good to go, system now is rather flexible for casual gaming for new players and veterans. Forget those SoM 2-3-4-5 or fresh discord channel ppl make extorting your need to play for personal gains and even perhaps spoils and advertises, and come join the fun! They clearly dont make those channel out classic era love, and they clearly dont fill your thoughts with SoM and changes nonsense because they like wow and they want more of it for your sake of fun, more like they want more money deceiving and abusing your false hopes they made you have with the lies they told you

I don’t think they are that angry. I feel the same way that they hate classic and did it only to prevent retail haters from playing private servers so they won’t lose any money. And that they are killing classic on purpose so more people play would retail in which they are milking players as much as they want.
But I disagree with level of hate you impose here. BfA and Shadowlands were still commercial success thx to Bobby‘s player milking strategies. Dragonflight will still get money even without classic players but some devs surely have ego problems or envy with old pre cata content.

Suppose I’m a bit more cynical than I used to be. Feck it!

As long as Blizzard let’s us play Era like we do these days, I’m happy. I truly hope they can help us stop botting and GDKPs in Era before it’s too late, but that’s probably wishful thinking.

Did some pserver died or something? Why so many people at the same time decided to play classic?

Though my region has 14 people online on used to be biggest server

They have seen what DF is like and Phase 2 has been around for 11 weeks in WOTLK.

But they get argent dailys soon so they can ride horses around.
Wont that save wrath?

One of the cool things I like to think about as I level up my toon is that you can actually COMPLETE classic era. It’s nice knowing some new content patch or expansion isn’t going to come along and make my efforts feel worthless.

I personally don’t have much time to play, because i am extremely busy with work and business.

But when i play the Game, it feels like you never had before.

There is people for everything you want to do in Classic right now and that is making this so fantastic.

I wonder why there is no megathreat or viral Topic about this yet?

Unless i decided on my own to check out of being boring at a time, i wouldn’t even know Classic was extremely populated.

Now, i believe nothing can stop Classic from being hyper and over populated, because it turned out to be something no other Server or Expansion had experienced.

Huge comeback of population on certain old server or expansion, never happened at least for the past 14 years of this Game (Exception of Nostalrius).

Classic has proven that miracle can happen.
