You probably could consider it not canon, it wouldn’t change anything anyway. Unlike the Lich King and Argus finishing moves, that are not just game mechanic but an actual scripted event and thus canonically happened.

Agreed. A mob killing you because you’re afk is different from a boss canonically killing you.
Also, they are canon because they are scripted events that can’t be avoided, unlike Mandokir’s ability which can be blocked, unlike the Second Cataclysm that is supposed to be interrupted. If you didn’t play WotLK or Legion, it’s not my problem.
