Doesn’t need to be that way though. Again the root cause here is that the Alliance are constantly written into the story as do-gooders. So even though (and I’m sorry to bring it up again), Camp Taurajo happened, there is no lingering hatred towards the Alliance or reluctance to work with them/engage with them.
Things like that are easy for us to look down from a top view and say “well this happened because of this and actually-”, as a Tauren you’d be livid that one of your towns was burnt and pillaged and you had to build a border wall to protect yourself and lock yourself in. If you’re living it, you’re not seeing it rationally. Sometimes WoW characters gravitate from having meta-game knowledge about lore and events to knowing absolutely nothing about things they should know.
This loops back to my point about what’s made into pertinent and continuous plot points. The tauren are in this weird spot where dwarven imperialism and destruction in the barrens has fallen into some amnesiatic fog.
The tauren do have an issue with the Alliance. It’s just not pertinent to the narrative of Jaina getting welcomed home, Sylvannas playing 6-Dimensional hungry hippos and an orc who got sad.
waves vaguely at the visions of n’zoth stormwind boss
People don’t talk about Alleria getting villainbatted 'cos it’s kinda predictable if it happens, no one’s gonna get surprised at it. Oh, the void lady went crazy? Shocker.
Turalyon’s slightly more out there, since his “negative” stuff is mostly novel-contained. I say ‘mostly’ because being a zealot (Light or otherwise) is still pretty close to villain territory - see Lightbound and Scarlets.
The real peak is Turalyon going evil, Alleria killing him to protect people, and then her going evil 'cos she went crazy from widowing herself.
It’s cynical but i do agree with Shogg, i have the underlying sensation that Midnight will slowly be more and more about the two remaining Windrunners as its plot unfolds.
Alleria is set up as knaifu’s foil, and knaifu’s real plans aren’t starting until Midnight, so yeah, 100%.
Lukewarm take though: Midnight will also bring Sylvanas back, because they can’t have the elf expansion focus on the Windrunners without a Horde Windrunner.
I think if you can in the span of 30 seconds to a minute be talked into supporting torture you are probably not actually that against it I’m sorry meronpal
good god in the heavens above why did they ever decide to make V*id Elves a thing, they have completely destroyed Alleria’s character and aesthetic for it.
my favourite thing about wow lore is where they keep trying to introduce elves that are darker and more morally questionable, but then end up making them good guys somehow
someone is going to mention umbric sending people to the shadowrealm or whatever but that is good guy behaviour
