Hi guys, i recently completed all the required tasks to unlock Mechagnomes (rep and story) as allied race on my main (Horde side). After that i did the Mechagon-pre on my Alliance-char and played there until i unlocked the dailies. The problem is, i still didn´t get the quest in stormwind for unlocking the race. I completed the full storyline and got the achievement “a mechagonian threat” on my Horde-char. When i log on my Alliance-char there are all parts of the achievement completed as well, except the last one, killing King Mechagon in the workshop. To complete this you have to accept the quest from Prince Erazmin after you hit reverd by the rustbolt resistance.
The point is that i am wondering if and why i have to do this. A friend of mine did the exact same process as me and got the Mechagnome-unlock-quest without having to do anything more than i did yet. He simply had the whole achivement on both sides after completing it on Horde side.
Is this a common issue to you guys, did anybody maybe had the same or a similar one?
Thank you for your quick answer. Unfortunatly i can´t find anything helpful, neither in the forum nor on WOWhead… I already wrote a ticket and the GM told me to ask here in the forum or on WOWhead…
I just don´t understand why i have the whole “a mechagoinian threat” on my Horde-char, where i completed it and on my Alliance-char only the last part is missing… I really don´t know what to do, i really don´t wanna play the whole storyline on alliance side again, because i´d have to farm rep until revered. There has to be another option since my friend got to the quest without any issues, doing the same thing i did!
the only problem i find here in the forum seems to be “missing kelsey”. I didn´t even get there yet!!
If you have done these achievements on a Horde character, you will then need to login on a level 120 Alliance character.
If this character has already completed the Mechagon Island intro questline that ends with the quest “Welcome To The Resistance”, then the character can head to the Alliance Embassy in Stormwind and pick up the quest “Urgent Care” from Aysa Cloudsinger to start the Allied Race unlock questline.
If this character has not unlocked Mechagon Island, you can head to the Alliance Embassy in Stormwind and Gila Crosswires will have the quest “Fame Waits For Gnome One” which will lead the character through the Mechagon Island unlock process which then leads to the mechagnome unlock questline. If you are in this situation, you will not need to go to Nazjatar.
A mechagonian threat has two different achievement ID’s. One for Horde and one for Alliance. When you are on your alliance character, it will show that one. It should not however prevent you from picking up the unlock quest.
Just to be certain ( I apologize if it sounds like I am teaching you to suck eggs! ), you have been to the Stormwind Embassy where the allied race NPC’s are and checked there to pick up the quest? (it does not automatically pop up, you have to go and get it).
yea i went to the embassy (this isn´t my first unlocked allied race, i know the process ^^ it´s actually the last i need to have all races unlocked) like 5 or 6 times now, after numerous relogs, restarts of the game and even waiting for a day after writing a ticket to the support which - excuse my language - didn´t help me at all. It was the most useless and stupid answer i´ve ever recieved from a customer support. They just told me to check WOWhead and the forum here which i already did first, as anybody with a little bit of brain left would do…
so i am still stuck. I have all requirements, the Mechagnome banner in the embassy also showed me that they are all done. It has to be a bug, i can´t explain it to me anyway else. I think i´ll have to write another ticket and hope that an actual GM recieves it and gives me a proper solution, not the bot that probably answerd the last one (after almost a day… I know it can take a while but pls Blizzard, if you leave your players on read for a day, at least give them a real solution not just a sh*tty copy-paste text that gets send to anybody who opens a ticket…). But thank you for your ambitious help Shammoz ^^ i hope i can unlock them one day
Hmmm… silly question… but are you sure you don’t have the unlock quest in your quest log? It’s the only thing I can think of to be honest. Or Addons, try disabling them all or doing a user interface reset.
If you are opening another ticket, attach a screenshot of the banner showing it all complete, it may divert them from giving you the same answer as last time ( i.e. check wowhead).
No, i unfortunatly don´t have it in my questlog… disabling add-ons didn´t work either, i tried that this morning after the customer support told me to (which actually was kind of the only real solution they offered to me after a day of waiting… ). What exactly do you mean with an interface reset?
Anyways, i opened another ticket now. Sadly i didn´t get the idea of adding screenshots, but i clearly described my situation. I just hope that a real GM reads it and contacts me with some proper solutions. Again, thank you for your time Shammoz ^^ at least you tried
Whilst the game is closed, do the following.
In your World of Warcraft->retail folder, copy the subfolders named WTF, Interface and Cache and paste them somewhere else to keep a back up copy.
Then delete the WTF, Interface and Cache folder from the retail folder.
Then log back in. It will be a completely clean blizzard UI. See if the quest is possible then, if so pick it up.
If not, you can copy back the folders from the place you stored the backup copies which will restore all your addons and settings.
You’re welcome, sorry I couldn’t be more help. Usually its the case of the player not going to the embassy, your issue is definitely more… “tricksy”.
Unfortunatly the UI reset didn´t help either… I really think it´s because it didn´t really “transfer” the “mechagonian threat” achievement form Horde to Alliance side, even if it should do exactly that as far as i know (Since it is an account-wide achievement). I am still missing the last part, where i have to kill King Mechagon. I would just like to know why i have any part but that on my Alli-char… Why should it transfer ~90% of the achievement and missing the last part? Do i really have to grind revered on Alli-side too, to get this last part tranferred? I don´t think so because a lot of other players didn´t have to do this either… I am just wondering why it doesn´t work for me while for anybody else… it also seems to be a really rare or even first case since i didn´t find anything similar on the forum or WOWhead, only the “Kelsey´s missing” issue.
I hope i´ll recieve an answer from the support any time soon to get this fixed…
There are currently no known issues with unlocking the Mechagnome allied race.
One thing to bear in mind, if you’re logging an alt Allied character to finish the unlock chain, you’ll need to first unlock Mechagon with that character because most of the allied race unlock chain takes place on the island.
