If you do /who it seems like nearly all 60s are grinding alterac valley presumably because that’s where the best gear is. I understand blizzard are adding some fix to honour and ranking, but will this make a difference? Will the fix mean people will stop grinding av? Will people start running end game PvE instead like scholomance/startholme? I’m currently leveling but if endgame is mostly just grinding AV then that kinda puts me off alot.
There a lot of PvE Groups too. The point with AV is, that most are grinding exalted to get some nice stuff and take the honor with it for rank 8 or 10 gear.
Is the fix they are applying to pvp ranks going to stop this? Seems sad to see pve content go to waste
No reason to do preraid pve content when you can get insane pvp gear within a few weeks of AV spam. When Blizzard realise that this ruins the SoM experience and longevity they might do some changes to this insane honor gain. All the nerds abusing government welfare will have their rank 13/14 gear by then. While casuals with family and a job probably will have to grind alot more to get the same gear. Take that into account, with the already existing honor brackets.
Pretty sad indeed. The government welfare abusers at high rank are too dumb to realise how this affects SoM. They dont want to work for anything. They just want everything handed to them, like easy access to gear in this case. Pretty relatable to how they dont want a job, and have money handed to them while they sit on their gaming chair.
This isn’t even a game to some of these people, it is pretty much their whole life. Their life has no meaning apart from ‘play wow’. They don’t even enjoy the game and have hated playing it for years but can’t function otherwise. Whatever happened to doing content for fun. You know in Japan they have the phenomena where young men won’t leave their bedroom at all for years and years, well people in Europe do that too playing WoW.
Hopefully blizzard bring in some kind of fix, all this pve content going to waste because people are just grinding AV is sad and makes me want to stop leveling my hunter.
What’s wrong with people doing stuff that they like exactly?
SoM was pretty much known to be a “rush gogogo” version.
You only have 12 months after all.
My veiw is that having PvP gear from day one was always going to ruin what SOM was supposed to be. The whole idea with more challenging raid content & having the upgraded dungeon gear was to create a thriving pve community and sadly this isn’t the case so far. All you have to do is look at /who to see that there’s barely anyone doing dungeons. /Who AV and is always full. People hitting 50 and just grinding mobs in AV that will probably give them a full blue PvP set, epic mount & AV exalted by the time they hit 60. After that no need to do any dungeons bar a few key items people might want & at that point it will probably be LF XXX items reserved.
The thing with the PvP also is that it’s just AV. There’s no premade scene doing WSG/AB. There’s literally nothing interesting about what’s happening within the ranking scene at all. At least with classic you had a thriving premade community that added some elements of skill & excitement to ranking. The ranking changes don’t really benefit anyone other than the people who would have probably no lifed it again for 3 months anyway. A person with a job isn’t getting rank 14 anytime soon & the people who do get rank 14 after 1.5 months are going to occupy themselves by grieving other players in quest greens & blues until they get bored & either quit, sell their account or rank another character.
They could have easily prevented this in a number of ways, but for some reason they thought it was okay to give people access to full raid quality gear in a matter of weeks from release.
I mean obviously players are free to play however they want but surely blizzard didn’t intend for the end game to be 50% of people just grinding AV? And 5 mans ect being ignored?
I tried to enjoy WoW classic having missed the first (re)launch. But I realized this is the community as you describe, and it really put me off! It’s just a cesspit of no-lifers trying to relive the game with 110% efficiency, as if that was their one true purpose in life! It is quite sad really.
Yeah this kind of attitude is all over tbc classic, people asking for all/nearly all purple for Gruul. When Gruul is so easy a chimp could do it.
There are lots and lots of ‘normal’ players though, nice people, the elitests and no-lifers just stand out so it appears there’s loads of them.
I feel you mate. For every lowlevel dungeon all you can see in LFG chat is “LF mage spellceave” or “LF warrior meleecleave”, its just sad. Seems like the true fans of Classic stayed away from SoM, and its only the no-life basement dwellers that sticks around. I can smell the loser mentality wherever I go, or whoever I play with in SoM. The lack of courtesy and go-ahead spirit is so obvious. At “/who 60” all I see is AV-spamming droolers.
Luckily it’s not like that on Ironfoe don’t think I’ve seen one LF spell or melee cleave message. I do see a lot of LF tank messages though but that’s nothing new. It can take a while to get a group though going through the lower lvl dungeons. Most of the time is just do it once or twice for the quests & that’s it.
You sound jealous and bitter, maybe quit your wageslave job and enjoy life and free time
AV is the meta right now
fresh when
You sound like someone who needs to get out of the basement for some fresh air.
And why would i want to do that? Air kills cells, and sun causes cancer.
A lot of people quit for same reason. It’s so weird to make AV being the best honor farm and ranking gear is waaaay to strong in the short time it takes to get it. Most of the people said leveling/open world been fun, so take it from there and learn from the mistakes rushing an mmo at 60. That was a huge misstake. When TBC hit P3 I think SoM will have just some players at Dreadnaught playing. With that said, a SoM 2 can still be much better next year
I hope they fix this, I was looking forward to do 5 mans and raids at max level, not just AV on repeat. There is no-way blizzard intended for it to pan out like this, they’ll add some kind of fix surely?
At this stage I very much doubt there will be any intervention. It would just cause a huge amount of players to quit that have already been grinding ranks/AV. It’s basically a lose lose situation. Restrict ranks/gear and the PvP focused players quit. Let it go on and slowly it will bleed players who can’t get dungeon groups.
You also have to look at the impact of what happens when players are rank 10-14 (whatever their desired goal is). These players will be out in the world ganking low lvl zones and in general just grieving players in lesser gear/lvl until they get bored. New players will see & experience this & probably just quit before even hitting max lvl.
Another thing is botting in AV. Due to the fast turnaround of ranking you will see a huge increase in botting in AV for both personal & financial gain. AV is the easiest BG to bot in and it can be very difficult to spot a good bot in AV because they generally run profiles that will do exactly what players are doing. At least with a WSG premade meta this kind of botting made AV not really worthwhile. Now the meta is AV rush it’s like the perfect breeding ground for r14 AV bots that can be sold for real money.
The implementation of PvP gear so fast was the worst thing that could have happened to SOM. Also with all the screw ups in the honor system the game has basically been tainted from day 1. People will argue that PvP gear isn’t the best for pve or that it wont effect the game long term are just delusional. Yeah the gear isn’t min/max BIS gear for a lot of classes, but it’s a damn sight easier to get & is guaranteed for doing literally nothing but semi afk for X amount of hours a day.
you play Scholomance for fun?
