I was bored due to not having much to do that I enjoy on my main, and unlike other expansions that came before, I decided I’d already start on an alt.
I did the Maw starting scenario and then I got the choice and I figured; hey, I’ll try that threads of fate.
Turns out… I hate it.
And afaik there’s no way back. So please, Blizzard, if you could; please add a way out. It should of course not be an on/off option because that will be abused. But a one time cancelation or perhaps one with a big cooldown (14 days?) could be a thing.

They warned you what would happen before you selected the choice in game.
Live with the consequences.

I was planning to use it, is it really that bad? Doing campaign worth it more than that?
As far as i didn’t agree with you since this morning, this time i completely agree.

That doesn’t mean you can’t change a system to improve upon it. You of all people should know that, asking for half the classes to be nerfed to heck.

I agree here with Tahra, we should be able to cancel it, like we can do with main storyline, there is no reason not to.
I didn’t play it myself, since seeing my boyfriend leveling his monk with it and I hated it…

It was bad enough when they locked half the zones out in BFA when you started but they seem to want to limit your playstyle even more this time round.
I dont see why you cant be allowed to just play the storylines in whatever zone you want (obviously after playing through the whole thing in order the first time round).
Given that 3-4 zones (with side quests and extras) will get you to 60 it sucks that its either threads of fate or Bastion for every alt.

The warning doesn’t mean we are obliged to like it or that we can’t ask for the system to be changed. I started my alt on story mode, got annoyed by “reach level X to continue”, switched to Threads of Fate and I absolutely hate it. Already thinking about abandoning the alt because I’m not having any fun playing it.

I agree, I thought ToF would be a fun alternative to level up my alts, but I’m only level 53 and already I hate it. I wish I could go back to the story.

The problem with allowing to cancel threads of fate could be the same problem as to why there is no option to use party sync solo to replay previously completed quests, it should very hard to implement given that everything in this game is associated with quests that behind the scends are just flags that have two states, you have completed it or not. Quest are not only used of the quests you actually see on your quest logs, things like opening a one time only treasure is stored with a hidden quest, things that happen one time only are also hidden quests, killing a one time only rare is also a hidden quest, but the phases you see on the zones are also based on your completed quests, both the ones that you see and hidden ones.
I am sure to make Threads of Fate they have just created an instant level 50 character on their server with no previous quests completed, they have played the campaign without doing absolutely anything optional and then use that character as a template for Threads of Fate, probably when you choose Threads of Fate all the quests completed by that templated, hidden or not, are marked as completed in your character and I am sure Blizzard has no way to know wich quests have you completed before choosing Threads of Fate and wich quests has been autocompleted.
For Blizzard to allow to cancel Threads of Fate they must revamp the entire quest system of the game to make quests completed stored with more data than just you have completed the quest or not.
I believe Final Fantasy XIV has this exact problem but they figure out a solution to make it possible to have a New Game+ option to replay quests, but I don’t know how they do it to make it possible.
I suppose an easy solution could be something like having multiple lists of completed quests per character, for example, the current list of completed quests, and have a secondary list of autocompleted quests to cancel Threads of Fate. For a New Game+, they could have a third quest list with quests that are being replayed or maybe a list with quests that the character has completed at least one, that would allow Blizzard to do and undo whenever they want to allow in the quest list without revamping the system and without losing information.

Is it really that bad ? I choose ToF on my 11 alts and you’re scaring me now. What is wrong with it ?
I don’t see the problem with it either :o
Gonna level all my alts by threads of fate.
But I also see no reason why we shouldn’t be able to cancel/enable it for those that change their mind during leveling.
Maybe only once though to prevent any abuse shenanigans

For me it is the lack of fun / interesting things to do.
- dungeons take about an hour to get into as dps and even longer if you que for specific to do a quest to fill your progress bar for the area
- side quests are the same I just did on my main
- takes ages to travel between bonus objectives and WQs
- bonus objectives are tedious and can take a long time to complete
I was hoping there would be new side quests or something to do in Threads of Fate so it’d be more of a fresh experience. For me blindly following the story would have been more fun than the tedium I’m experiencing now. Ofc other might enjoy it or find more things to do, especially if they play with friends and do dungeons. I’ll most likely either hold off on alts or level through story mode until flying becomes available.

Just find a new game to play. Seems like you dont like anything about wow.
You create a guild group and you face roll dungeons. 3 levels per hour easily.
At the moment it’s more efficient to run story if you’re not tank/aoe spec and that needs balancing cause it makes ToF a bit lame.
Got some alts on it but they’re alts so not in any rush to get them to 60 so for me it’s going to be do an alt for a day and complete one set of quests after I do whatever needs doing on main.
And if time, do another alt. The only advantage I can see from it is you’re gathering anima while levelling the alt up so you’re not going to be at 0 when you do ding 60.
Sometimes fate isn’t kind

Maybe learn a bit about context? I’m talking about my experience leveling an alt using Threads of Fate, not how I feel about the entire game.
Nope, you didn’t quote anyone nor did you directly reply to anyone (or at least I can’t see that you did) and since you posted after me I thought it was directed at me.
