Just add the cross realm LFG/RDF already

Well, there are long term investors and short term investors. Investors might not care, but Blizzard does care about its investors.

Good luck with your petition.

Weird hill to die on ngl

Facts for RDF:

  • RDF helps against gatekeeping of lowgear/undesired specs
  • RDF helps against boosting services
  • RDF helps against “reserving loot” culture
  • RDF helps players to play the game and socialize while looking for groups
  • RDF tool is simple and encourages new players to play group content
  • RDF daily reward instead of quests helps new players and geared players to play together more often
  • Crossrealm helps to find groups at all on low pop servers and low level content overall
  • RDF was part of wotlk, part of the original experience

Facts against RDF:

  • Crossfaction reduces social liability, that can result in more
    ninja looting
    party leaving
    unfriendly behavior
  • Crossfaction doesnt allow players of different servers to use the normal friendlist and they wont be able to queue up again at another day
  • Heroic lockouts werent in the game back then with RDF
  • “Draw of Luck” buff give a disadvantage to full premade groups
  • Heroic dungeon badge rewards after the first make gearing too fast
  • Teleporting to dungeons takes away traveling experiences

More or less anything else against RDF is speculation or subjective feelings.

  • Players being less social?
No, the majority of full random groups are already not very social.
  • RDF destroyed the game/retail like
More or less any feature ever was a step towards retail, as they are all still present in the newest version of retail. That RDF had more influence than other features or design changes is not a fact, its speculation.
  • Target audience of classic is vanilla fans
That was the case in vanilla classic, and now we have vanilla era servers for these payers. Wotlk was originally aimed at a different playerbase, that was and still is much larger than the vanilla one.
  • RDF makes the game a lobby game
The opposite is true, since it enables players to go out in the world, doing whatever they feel like, instead looking at custom interfaces.
  • Blizzard knows better
If Blizzard knows better, we would not have classic at all. We wouldnt have server issues we have today. Retail would be a better game than expansions 10+ years ago. But that isnt the case, proving that Blizzard does not know any better.

And so on, listed some things here:

The real legit concern about RDF is crossfaction. I would advocate that it should be optional in the RDF (simple checkbox), so players can choose if they want fast queues or a more social experience, like being able to add players they meet as friends, joining their guilds. Anything else can be addressed easily. No lockouts? Done in 3min by 1 developer. No rewards after first random heroic? Done in 5min by 1 developer. “Draw of Luck” seems unnecessary? Removed in 3min by 1 developer.
Teleporting on the other hand is a real thing. Without it, most low level dungeons wont be visited because of the travel time and thats not a good thing. On max level the travel experience is simply flying a straight line or waiting for the teleport in the city. Personally I think the teleport is only really important for low level grouping, but not for max level content, since the destinations are reached within a few min anyway.

If crossrealm in RDF was optional or not used at all, most other legit concerns could be solved easily. The rest of the “concerns” against RDF are not RDF specific or based on subjective interpretation/memories and not facts.

Not adding RDF in wotlk at all would be a huge mistake.

Minor points to an otherwise excellent post. 5% damage increase is in no way a decent compensation for doing full premades, the full premade will virtually always be faster than the group with 5% damage/healing buff.

Specifically for random queueing so there was no guarantee you’d get the heroic you needed for a specific drop.

I listed it, because it is a concern against RDF based on facts. I agree, that full premade groups will always perform better than a random one, even with the 5% buff. However, if it really concerns some people, removing the buff wouldnt be a dealbreaker in my opinion.

The problem with no lockouts is, that players could farm badges without a specific cap. That wasnt a problem in 3.3.0, since the new 5man dungeons all dropped badges in the normal mode version and therefore badges could be farmed endlessly anyway. It would alter the pace of progression, if there was no such cap in earlier patches.

How is cross realm LFG gonna solve low pop servers issues ?

Less guilds, less raids, less players, less items in AH…

It won’t.

From the start we will have 13 heroic dungeons. If each dungeon will take approximately 30 mins to close you will need 6,5 hours to close them all.

If rdf will be not introduce as it was it’s means that you can’t physicly close all heroic dungons cause it will take around 10 hours. If you can close all heroic dungeons - i think you don’t have job and real life like a robot.

I don’t see any problems with some extra farm and i don’t care about it

So you wanna change the game, so you can clear everything in 6.5h instead 10h? Amazing. Maybe just get friends to do all at once, if you wanna minmax like a degen. I really don’t understand, why classic players need to rush everything always, just so they get to a point faster, where they do the same grinds on their alt, and then the next alt, and the next, and the next…

jesus… these no RDF clowns… amazingly poor at comprehensive reading

First off, you need to relax mate. I don’t mind whether this change creeps in or not.

It becomes a chore, because psychologically, you add it to a list of things in your head that you have to do each day. Y’know, like a list… a list of chores.

It’s the same reason some people dislike dailies. You know that if you miss them for one day, you’ve fallen behind. That doesn’t feel good.

You clearly aren’t going to stay open minded regardless, and if you’re not going to be calm or rational about the situation, why would Blizzard make the change.

Too many people on here thing the way to improve things is to kick, scream and insult people with an opinion that doesn’t match their own.

Yes, it’s effing five mans. But the prevailing frame of thought here is that the Group Finder alters people’s perception of the game and the way we play it. It’s not about convenience. Perception is everything. Once you associate five mans with ease and convenience, general apathy follows. People just, stop engaging with the content completely. And thing is, they have to make the content even easier, when you’re being grouped with 4 random players. It’s far more rewarding to finish a five man, at speed, with a guild group.

And before you say perception means nothing, why are people waiting in 11k queues for Thekal. It’s because they’ve latched on to some perception or idea of what Fresh really is.

While I don’t care if this goes either way. You can’t be so ignorant, that you don’t understand why they’ve chosen not to add this feature in?

A fair minded man tries to see both sides of an argument. Relevant quote right now, have fun in Wrath!

Once again, how is this a chore compared to having a list in your head that includes spamming a chat for x amounts of minutes/hours?

Only done dailies to get exalted with Shattered Sun, not done anything else. Sounds like you’re turning your game into a job. That simply can’t be on me.

Yes, I can. I cannot see a single logical reason to not include RDF at some point in WotLK Classic.

Because I’ve been down this road before and that was back when people actually treated the social aspects of the game as a core game feature. That’s been long gone (and it has in all games, it simply stopped being novel to talk to a lot of people at once online).

I’m trying, I really am.

But when you spout stuff like “RDF killed the game”, “RDF is a slippery slope”, “RDF murdered my mum” it’s really effing hard. Especially when the only argument people tend to have after you’ve proven all of the above wrong is “burt Blizzurd sed so”.

Please no. I want to play with realmies. I want to feel part of single toghter nit community. Leafe LFG and RFD to retail.

Please explain how RDF would prevent you from doing this?

I have mains and I have alts, I want to play the game I want to do dungeons I want to gear them I want to farm herbs and ores and level profession I want to do dailies I want to be able to join raids on my alts without having to waste my gold in GDKPs that are ran by gold sellers.
How is wasting half my day in Shattrah or Dalaran spamming a macro in trade and LFG

I don’t think most of these people actually play games to have fun anymore, just to laud their lewt over other people.

I simply don’t have a problem manually looking for people. If i can’t put together a group quick enough i ask friends to do it later, or i go do something else or i log a tank/healer-alt. On a normal pop server i don’t perceive this as waste of time or “unfun”, it just make it more rewarding once i get a dungeon going.

There is no incentive for me to have RDF, a feature that may or may not have negative impacts. To be honest, posts like yours just make me wary of RDF. Typing in capital letters, trying to rile people up. If this is what the face of RDF looks like, then hard no thanks to RDF.

Yeah that’s you but I log in to play the game when I log in, Not make 500 friends and wait for them to log in to do heroics with me.
Sure my guildies might do a dungeon or two with me or even all of them in phase 1 when we all need them but when I’m on one of my alts they don’t have to do a dungeon they’ve done dozens of times already again with me.

Already have those, I don’t want to be always playing a tank or a healer if I want to do a dungeon.

Not when I have to farm 80 badges for one item, This literally is time wasting.

So you managed to quote everything but the important part of my post?

I replied to your supposed argument against RDF, the later half is not.
