There must be a reason why you thing we will be back to middle of the pack, care to share it? Because i absolutely don’t think so - our legendaries are all useless, the conduits are useless bar 1 acceptable, while other classes gain massive buffs and synergies with their legendaries and conduits. If anything, the dps gap will widen, especially considering we don’t scale with secondary stats at all - mastery is absolutely useless, crit is not affecting one of our main spells, haste is quickly covered by furious gaze passive.
With momentum or UBC build (or both) you have no mobility. You are much more likely to die than some of the wheelchair classes due to this if you have played demonic so far. And if the sole reason you’re going to be taken in a group is because of a debuff so others can shine even more - are you really going to be happy about it? Also we were NEVER popular because of our debuff. It only guaranteed a single spot in raid, and it was never the reason to bring us in M+.
Slows? Can you please show me what slows do we have? Yes, we have incapacitate and AOE stun. But i’m trying really hard to remember the last time a M+ group was formed and its members chosen based on their stuns and incapacitates. Darkness? Vastly overrated. Unless you do big 10+ mobs pulls it’s barely noticeable, and we won’t be seeing such pulls in SL.
AOE cap? I never even mentioned it. All classes have target caps, we’re not alone with this so i don’t really find any issue with it. The only issue i have is Eye beam feels very weak with the new square root formula, i would have preferred it if it retained its x2 damage on main target, but be capped at 5 targets.
So you do agree the “two button rotation” is bad? By the looks of it it will be the dominant playstile for us, because any other alternative is absurdly worse.
I never liked PVP and I don’t care at all about 70% Darkness talent and Mortal rush talent when i will never going to use them in neither raids, dungeons, or solo content/Torghast?
On my DH I went with GT and cycle of hatred and pulled almost 2300 single target dps on a dummy. Just as I suspected it’s worth it to lose a little bit of the “on paper” dps of UBC but to gain more predictable and consistent output with GT. Although I thought I landed all my UBC rushes in my previous test, obviously I was wrong.
I also geared a bit my lower frost DK and the little glimmer of hope was quickly crushed. I went unholy (3132323 talents) and with 107 ilvl I pulled 2000 single target dps on a dummy. Surprisingly Unholy pact did a lot of damage, ~11% of overall damage.
Both tests were 200 sec long, couldn’t bother for any longer.
Also another problem with Glaive Tempest. People complained about DH having the same rotation for both ST and AOE with First blood and Trail of Ruin. Now that Blade dance is completely out of the rotation, again we have absolutely the same rotation for both ST and AOE, but this time we don’t cast Blade dance on CD, we cast GT on CD. Big improvement, eh?
Someone tell me why it’s so f’ing hard for Blizzard to test spec dps on dummies for just a few min before they release it so broken. Why is DH doing 20% less dps than other specs in equal gear? Is it rocket science?
Well, if you consider this has happened to most other classes in the past. We have to think either this is intended or they really don’t go parse their designed rotations and talents on dummies to find base balance prior to scaling. Also fixing gear scaling and get it balanced across the board shouldn’t be so hard if they test stuff. But instead they probably don’t test stuff, they have beta testers testing and giving them feedback which they ignore for the most part. Lately I just think they’re under executive pressure and they rush everything regardless, in the past I can’t say why they would allow some specs to be under-performing so much for such long periods of time, entire expansions etc. Some classes/specs just get no love from devs for whatever reasons. This product doesn’t hold the same quality it did in the past and this is just another representation of that.
