Kael'thas is a dungeon boss... again

No no, I think at this point the “Horde bias argument” can definitly go to a place An’she doesn’t shine(thanks Zakkaru for the phrasing ;))

Genuinly curious if it’s going to change the Faction Balance, I’m leaning towards no.
But I do think in time everyone and their mom will be a “Blood Elf” and…at that point, Blood Elves will just become the “Humanity of WoW” :stuck_out_tongue:

But when everyone gets to play as a High Elf, are High Elves REALLY that special anymore (in lore or gameplay?)

Think about it, if everyone in the world was given a beautiful and expensive blue car, everyone would be pretty happy AT FIRST…but after a while, seeing that everyone else has a beautiful expensive blue car anyway, the blue car would become pretty redundant and most people wouldn’t really care at that point because everyone else has it as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Same for the High Elven customization for both Void Elves and Blood Elves…for the Void Elves it’s just fair skin, but I’m pretty sure the lore they will get will still be heavily void-related and focused anyway especially in a future Void-themed expansion. For the Blood Elves it could be explained in a way that the fel taint is already disappearing from their eyes, OR that now there’s no official Warchief anymore, some High Elves (who don’t like the Void group development of Alleria in the Alliance) finally decided to return home in Quel’thalas (they don’t even need to fight for the Horde in the future, they can just stay there) and so Blood Elves get blue eyes too…those Elves could be the ones of Auric Sunchaser (he was already present at the Sunwell for the Quel’Delar quests chains) or the ones that are more strictly neutral than Alliance, like some of the ones in Dalaran…

“High Elves” for both" probably won’t change the faction balance by much, most players who would swap and play Void Elves with fair skin with probably be Humans, Night Elves and Draenei players anyway, so they are players who were already Alliance mains anyway. Blood Elves get quite a lot of fancy customizations (beard, hair, necklace and other stuff) so most Blood Elves players are happy where they are, ESPECIALLY because quite a lot of people actually wanted Blood Elves with blue eyes and it’s happening too.

So, sure, Void Elves could even get X2 or even X3 numbers of players that they have right now because of this…but Blood Elves should still be quite a lot more than them, because as I said most will be people who are already playing as a main alliance character race-changing into Void/High Elves anyway

Well, that’s a given, Elves are usually more likeable (either visually or for their history, or both) to people than Humans, but not just in Wow, also in the other fantasy franchises too…because we are already Humans in real life so with Elves we get to play something that it’s a bit different than us humans, but not too different like a Draenei or Troll (or Tauren like you :stuck_out_tongue: )

cough Pandas cough
But sacrasm aside, you are correct. Blizz will finally have a saving card that they finally have given playable high elves. Problem is, nobody will be satisfied in the long run. Ut solet.

Not to rain on anyone’s parade but Blizzard already clarified that none of the significant customisation options are to be considered canon nor relevant to the story.

So regardless of how people make their characters look, those will remain BE or VE.
Much like every dwarf will remain Bronzebeard and every troll a Darkspear.

As of now, these are glorified transmogs

Blizzard’s been saying allot lately though.
And now it’s clear it pays off to demand for stuff if you just keep going at it.

True.
But regardless if people truly are eager to have these changes be reflected in the story, I can say with certain degree of certainty, that I’m fully expecting their laziness to back them up and make them stand by their posture about not bothering to create expanded story that validates the lore implications derived from stuff like this.

Shame tho, after all that Helf appeasement I was hoping for my Grimtotem, complete with added lore and explanation as to who and why.

Same for Trolls, and for Orcs.

True, very true.

It is quite obvious that Kael’thas will be redeemd and brought back to Azeroth with us.

Actually I think at least 4 characters will return to us.

Uther as Kyrian
Kael’thas
Draka
Vol’jin as Loa

you heard it here first.

Dont forget that Void Elves do not have “Blond” hair color! ! !

I heard it here first. What about it?

Replace Draka with Arthas who will rejoin the Alliance probably…

hah…just kidding Blizzard already confirmed they do not want to ruin Arthas’ character while we are in the Shadowlands, we will learn more about him and his motivations as Lich King, but it’s very doubtful we will even meet him in person there…

so, not Arthas, but maybe either Garithos, Daelin or Zul’jin could return, MAYBE… are they even present in the Shadowlands at all? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s gonna happen. Those 4 return with us to azeroth.

And yet they don’t seem to mind ruining Uther.

Uther isn’t really a character though, he’s more of a Symbol imo. The Standart goodguy Paladin-Boyscout, revered and loved by everyone, without any flaw betrayed and killed by his own pupil.
He’s basically Obi-Wan without own flaws.

New Night Elves stuff:

So, Blizzard gave also blue eyes to Night Elves. We know that also Blond Hairs will be available.

In other words, Night Elves will be able to create a Highborn, and even roleplay it as our hero now starts on the neutral island…

Kael’thas is one of the greatest characters this game has ever created. I can’t wait until he returns to his people like he should be. So excited.

Kael’thas is an interesting character and I hope him and Lor’themar have some sort of interaction in Shadowlands. I’m not sure about the whole redemption thing, however … I’d really prefer it if Lor’themar remained the leader of the Blood Elves seeing as he is liked by the people and has proven himself to be very capable and the leader that they needed, and he essentially was left to clean up Kael’thas’ mess.

Bring Kael’thas back, sure, but it would be a shame to undermine Silvermoon’s development as a nation without need for a true monarchy, and could potentially undermine Lor’themar’s development, too. At the same time, I’m intrigued to see what they’re going to do with Kael’thas this time around.
