Keep Hydraxian waterlord

Dear Blizzard,
Why do you wanna shut down the only RP-server in classic? Hydraxian Waterlord may be a low populated server right now but it’s community are the best. It’s a home for those who love to RP and others who enjoy the warmth and spirit of those fantastic people. In Dragonflight you have a RP-server which is full (Argent dawn) so why can’t we keep Hydraxian Waterlords in classic for the same pupose as Argent dawn? A living RP server to call home for those who enjoy the spirit of RP.

Please Blizzard reconsider your decision to shut down Hydraxian Waterlords.

Don’t take this the wrong way but it’s mind blowing to see people actually thinking that Blizzard cares about what people want by expressing it on the forums, especially on the EU side.
I was playing on Nethergarde Keep and i already moved to another server before themselves move me.

I wonder how long it will take people to actually come to the conclusion that Blizzard doesn’t care about what we want or about low population servers.

We still have to try, what more can we do beyond expressing here on the forums? It worked last time, and the reasons against shutting Hydraxian are still just as strong as the last time Blizzard tried.

Not to disregard Nethergarde Keep or anyone losing their realm, because it sucks, but Hydraxian is in a unique spot as it has the RP tag. Without Hydraxian, RPers are forced onto a totally different server type without any possibility of an RP realm at all any more. That’s a huge change compared to a regular PvE realm closing and moving to another regular PvE realm.

Anyone that has played on RP realms knows they have a totally different sort of player, mindset, community and ultimately, feeling to them. Going to a giant PvE realm is going to totally destroy all of that, and the reason people pick RP realms in the first place.

Hey there @Leetsauce .

Don’t get me wrong I applaud what you are doing I really do, i tried the same for Zandalar Tribe but we know how that played out, Blizzard didn’t care and that was one RP server as well.

Nethergarde Keep, I always said this and other people in there as well, had it coming, i never trusted Blizzard to the point of keeping servers opened when nobody or very few of us play there, it costs them money and the easy way is closing the empty/low pop ones and do this big server consolidation.

You know we also have to look at ourselves as players and also say that we have to be blamed, we have a herd mindset meaning that the majority goes where the big conglomeration of people are, when i ask what server would recommend me to go play at they say, for the most part, to go to Gehennas or Firemaw, servers already super populated, that most certainly with a new expansion people will get queues at least at a initial phase and then they come here to complain about the queues… it’s all a mentality about massive population focus and go there and then complain when they can’t play due to queues, it’s somewhat interesting.

I would never have an interest to go to those servers, i see them as big ponds of elitism, toxicity and other issues but i guess that people are willing to take that to get into raids or other content very quickly.

Why people wouldn’t go to a server like Hydraxian? Now to me this is interesting and somewhat a contradiction, people don’t go there because the already existing population is very low (i guess?), auction house practically empty, with who that people would raid?
Now what does Hydraxian have going for it and even Zandalar Tribe if I’m allowed to mentioning it here, well i see them as fresh servers… Don’t people usually love the smell of fresh servers? Now this is the contradictory part. As you may know when Wrath was at it’s start people wanted, begged for brand new fresh servers… I’m sure you know how that went and how long that hunger for fresh Wrath servers lasted, they opened 3 of those i think, all of them are empty and have been for a very long time.

Now I’m not here defending Blizzard, i stopped doing that a long time ago, i keep coming back to this game because i love it at it’s core and for what it is since i have grown playing the RTS game and then i switched to WoW, i love the lore, characters etc, as a company they have become, to myself, one that doesn’t surprise me on anything, i was angry when they implemented the WoW token but it didn’t surprise me at all since they love the #somechanges part and the more money they make then that’s all they care about.

I understand, i really do, the forum posts, reddit etc etc etc…we do have to realize that the only way these people will listen is to hurt their wallet.
They had the Hong Kong issue back in the day and worse the sexual harassment scandal…did you saw people stop playing this or any of their games because of that? Some did but they came back, so we as a community our will is weak.
Look at Call of Duty, i know people, friends, some people i watch on stream platforms etc playing that game, saying that it’s trash and worse with each new update and yet each year they buy it, they keep giving this company their money.

One important part of the blame is on the community that keeps expressing disappointment and yet does nothing and that’s a culture problem and not Blizzard’s fault.

It’s extremely important to keep the last RP server alive!

If it’s not enough to just keep the server, then consider merging Giantstalker with Hydraxian. Both servers are home to micro communities made up of like-minded people that prefer to play on low pop servers!

When Blizzard opened free transfers from Gianstalker to Nethergarde Keep in January 2023, everyone told me the server was dead. There would never be another group for any kind of heroic dungeon, let alone a raid. I was an absolute idiot to stay.

Fast forward to today. We got two guilds on the server. We have cleared all content (10 and 25), except for LK heroic 25 (we’re at 11/12, so getting close!). We have about 200 active players on just the Alliance side and a good 50 active raiders. Most importantly: we’ve got a community of like-minded people that even became friends outside of the game (isn’t that what you always used to put on the loading screen, Blizzard? Bring your friends out of Azeroth as well? )

So it doesn’t matter if Blizzard might listen or not. We’ve faced the impossible, so we might as well give it another try.

You never know what you can achieve when you actually try.

If you guys pull that off then i will come here and applaud you guys, i see you as i see the Era people when the servers were all at very low population before the most recent boom.

Unfortunately and despite still loving this game i have long lost faith in this company.

As others before me already said, we all are willing to try anything in order to save our beloved server. It’s small and population is scarce but the community is tight.
We know Blizzard will mostly continue on his path without any consideration for us players but we are not leaving any stone unturned.
Wish us luck, fellow players, we really need it.

And I would also say that playing WoW is not always raiding and giving thingies in AH - I’m playing in small community on Era server, no AH, raiding only with small group of people and we’re still having fun. For me there could be no raids at all, no AH at all, just people I like and good atmosphere, I also would love some surprise RP.
I just hope that it will be like last time and they will just leave HW alone (or maybe give some free transfers to us or even merge servers with some small PVE communities).

I’m compelled to write again on another thread that champions the idea of keeping Hydraxian Waterlords alive, as the realm is indeed very much alive for what is a RP realm existing outside of retail. It has even been growing in recent times, with new and returning players finding a place in one of our welcoming guilds with big plans for Cataclysm.

Myself, my guild and the number of guilds that make up the extended community on this realm are desperately hoping that we get to keep our realm. The ‘slower’ pace and tight-knit community spirit of the realm is what keeps us playing. It’s what makes this game a home for many of us.

This realm has already had to endure crippling death blows in the past and we’re very proud of the fact that it’s managed to survive in no short thanks to our unrelenting efforts. We provided a home for those from Celebras’ closure and in turn, Hydraxian Waterlords is now an eclectic mix of people who’ve found something special here that we’d really like to preserve. None of us are convinced we’d manage to regroup and reform on another server we’d be forced to move to; to us, the name Hydraxian Waterlords means too much, and our names in that respect mean so much to one another on this realm.

I am Ghane, the Night Elf rogue from The World Tree that has been here from day one; the fact that I’m still here after all of these years is a point of comfort and return for those that are always glad to see that the realm still has its players. Likewise, the names of those I regularly see on the realm mean as much to me. Furthermore, those of us on this realm feel an innate responsibility to welcome newcomers to our realm with open arms. Even recently have I had the chance to tell curious visitors to the realm about the sort of open-arm friendliness they can expect to find here, thereby convincing them to stay. Surely this must be something worth keeping.

So please reconsider; after all, it is the last RP realm and you gave us the choice to be here to begin with. Don’t retroactively punish us for playing the game in the way a RP tag promotes, and certainly don’t punish now after all of the trouble we’ve already had to endure just to keep our humble piece of the game alive.

I’ve been playing on Hydraxian Waterlords in one incarnation or the other, sometimes more, sometimes less since it’s early launch days. Anything I could have said or add here has been said I think, so just this:

Viva le RP! Keep Hydraxian Waterlords alive!

Tekhyra (Tekkins) - Exploring Gnome Rogue
Teryan - Marauding Orc Hunter

Let’s give this a little bump.

Please read and reconsider this terrible idea to destroy and fracture the RP community.

Players choose this small realm for the role play community vibes, where you see the same people each day!

SAVE HWL!!!

I remember the day when our monthly subs were invested in customer support agents that would at least dignify our forum with a blue response. Shareholders have more than likely put an end to that…

Finally I am able to raise my voice here too.
So, dear B-company: If you care more for the M than for the RP in MMORPG, it is your decision. But taking away the last RP realm is still a bad idea. You risk the losing the entire classic RP community (however small it may be) by forcing us on ‘normal’ servers. The atmosphere is just different.
Keep the ONLY remaining Roleplay server alive! And I fully support the idea of giving the Giantstalker comminty the option to join us, they seem to be like-minded. Maybe even open that option for Nethergarde Keep, so players thee have the choice to decide they want a calmer or larger realm to transfer to. It always feels good to have a choice, and you should respect that!

I would move my Thekal characters to Hydraxian.
I refuse to move em to GDKP infested megaservers, that’s why I’m basically alone on Thekal whenever I bother to log in.

And with that additude you would be welcomed warmly on Hydraxian. The problem, we still don’t have any official information IF we even stay alive, although our is server is not locked like the others.
So, PLEASE someone from the officials give us information and if we stay alive, allow people from other servers to move to us if they prefer calm familiara realms!

We will probably not get any more information than the fact that HWL is not locked - while every other server which will be closed is locked. We’ll have to take what we have, people, and work with it.
