Keeping WOTLK Classic servers

This is just a discussion among WOTLK enthusiasts to voice our desire for WOTLK Realms to stay online after Classic possibly moves on to the next expansion.

As we all know, Vanilla is the most popular expansion for Private servers, followed by WOTLK. They have kept the vanilla game servers, which I am very happy for. Many of us thought they would keep TBC realms, but they ended up not doing that, which in my opinion is a loss.

We have to voice our desire for WOTLK realms to stay up, as many of us donā€™t have the desire to play Cataclysm onwards. I for one will not be playing any other expansion after WOTLK, but will instead stay on Classic Era realms, and WOTLK if it stays. I have played WOTLK private servers for many years, and have been closely following classic news, and once it released stopped playing Private Servers completely. I do not want to go back to playing private servers, as they are really terrible communities, you all know the Server Iā€™m talking about

Letā€™s discuss our desire for WOTLK realms and make our voices heard.

OP here using proper character.

WOTLK servers staying up could be like they did with Classic Era when TBC released, all on one server, but with different realm names associated. Many players do not want to move on to Cataclysm, and itā€™s important for us to voice our opinion to get blizzard to cater to us. I really donā€™t want to head back to WOTLK Private servers such as ***mane.

I want WotLK forever server too. I have not play on Wrath since forever - cannot bear thought of losing the world again wit Cata.
Please let us keep Wrath!

I also want wrath to stay so many fond memories of playing it  grinding for that full wrathful set and grinding ashen verdict rep aswel as doing world PvP getting that 5k honor kills was fun .

And doing ICC up to blood queen lanathel was super fun times.Making gold with alchemy doing northrend alchemy research was fun too.

Allowing people to keep a character on Wotlk Era via a copy, and allowing them to also move to Classic Cata such as they did when TBC came out makes complete sense to me. Cannot see any downsides. Wotlk will probably be more popular than Classic Era.

Obviously itā€™s a total no brainer.

My preference would be stand-alone permanent WotLK servers.

Failing that, and as a second-tier choice Iā€™d cautiously accept a mechanic that made it possible to level from 1-60 on Classic era or HC servers and then be given the choice of a permanent, non-time limited transfer.

Or third tier (least appealing) option would be to use some kind of Chromie Time mechanic to choose between old world or revamped old world for 1-60 content.

same reply as other thread /signed

blizz would be mental to expect everyone on classic to just go back to retail lol. And yeah no matter what the neckbeard sweaties say Cata is retail. flame on i dont care.

Honest question: then why want wrath servers if youā€™re not playing wrath now, when itā€™s ā€˜currentā€™? Not wanted to be mean, genuinly curious.

Also didnā€™t you make an 'I quit 'thread after the bodytype1/2 changes to era? Or am I mistaken?

On topic: but yeah wrath era should be a thing, WITHOUT cloning costs.
While weā€™re at it bring back a TBC server please! Preserve every part of the classic trilogy.

Not so sure about that tbh. Vanilla has the charm of being the very first version of wow where EK/Kalimdor still matter, including the dungeons. Wrath is done after you kill all the raid bosses. My opinion but I know itā€™s shared by many.

As I said, I get depressed thinking of ā€œCata comesā€. Not wanting to play and progress something that will get utterly spoiled later on. HC is better, clean cut if you understand. If I could be sure forever Wrath, I would play.

Mistaken in why ā€“ not body types but UI changes.
Not mistaken in fact. I have cancelled sub, but I stay until no more playtime ā€“ hoping all time to improvements make me change my mind.

YES!

Yes sure, but I also want a TBC Era realm.

The only data we have is unofficial pserver data - and how believable is it? Who knows. All unofficial servers are known to fake player data. However, from what I have seen wotlk servers are more popular and tend to have a higher player base.

Until Blizzard does it weā€™ll never know, but wotlk era would be equal if not higher population than Classic Era, but thatā€™s just my opinion on the data we have.

Yeah I wasnā€™t taking ps into consideration tbh, and I donā€™t think it matters anway.
I still believe no static era server will have more players than classic 2019 era, but who knows. We still need wrath era, no doubt about that.

100% this!

Slightly higher population than Classic, but not as high as Cataclysm or HC would be my guess - at least to begin with.

This is because every player and their dog will immediately rush over to new Cata servers during the launch period. Itā€™s new, novel, and a change of venue. There will also be a whole bunch of ā€˜Cata touristsā€™ from retail checking it out, but not playing it in any real earnestness.

There will be huge queues at startup, bugs, lag, DCs and all that other Blizz goodness weā€™ve come to know and expect. The pro-Cata advocates on these boards will be as smug as you like, and my ā€˜campā€™ will be subject to a lot of gloating 'hur hur hur ur Wrath servers are dead we were right, hur hurā€™ā€¦ and theyā€™ll be correct and I will suck it up and eat crow (assuming we get Wrath servers).

But eventually, as the months pass numbers will dwindle. Itā€™s almost a given. The same reasons that caused so many people to quit during the original Cata will once again rear their ugly heads. Iā€™d like to think that many of these people will follow the same patterns apparent within the PS community and find their way back to Wrath-era servers.

Nope, not me. I stay HC and hope to play ā€¦ if not all this happen after my sub run out.

Its not almost given but its a given. Its gonna be the same as when 50% people quit at start of wotlk. And world is not the Reason.

all look at www . gtop100 . com

on that site are the 100 most famous most visited wow private servers .

over 50 % of all servers there are wotlk servers in patch 3.3.5.

on wotlk classic release, the wotlk classic servers were overpopulated, on firemaw there were nearly a half thousand players on the ship from stormwind to northrend.

wotlk is more famous than all other wow expansion.

we need wotlk era servers. at least 2, 1 normal and 1 pvp server.

Making more than 1 era server is a mistake. Just one giant server would suffice. At a push you can do a single PvP and a single PvE server.

Did 50% of people quit at the start of WotLK? Where are you getting these statistics from?

if blizzard merge all wotlk era servers to only 1 big server, then we have open pvp like in retail in northend. a good idea.

and then the big wotlk private server player community come to blizzard wotlk classic servers ā€¦

with that blizzard can get a lot of money . and the classic community has open pvp because allies from firemaw are on same server like horde from gehennas.

a win win situation. lets hope, blizzard read this.

on gtop100 . com are a list of the most visited most famous private servers of all expansions. more than 50 % of all 100 servers there are wotlk private servers, they can come to blizzards classic servers then.

I guess Iā€™d play on it, but what others label world PvP is usually just ganking which I donā€™t find particularly fun. My idea of world PvP is big, epic battles in Hillsbrad which were a thing back in vanilla - that was certainly fun.

So personally Iā€™d prefer one PvP and one PvE.
