Big orcish hello! I am Kekmorg, the orc warrior and this is my story.
I have 0 experience in World of Warcraft and decided to join the fray. Throughout the years I have seen the ads and so far, I know that the game revolves around faction wars, fantasy races and horrors beyond imagination.
As a new player my orcish adventure begun from the Exiles Reach. Man, the weather sure was ominous but good thing the fellas survived, and we managed to conquer the island, burn some spiders, and slap both harpies and ogres. Introduction so far has been okay; I enjoyed my time.
Arrival to Orgrimmar. Yes, this is why I came here, the war drums and horns blasting. The capital of the orcs, so cool… but empty? I counted 13 other players on escort quest to the stables, guess this is not a main hub for horde players. Still epic.
The game was directing me towards Zandalari Empire, apparently we needed their aid against Kul Tiran fleet which are siding with alliance. Off to Zandalar or Zuldazar or both? I am confused by the names. After quick tour of the temple city, I returned to Orgrimmar. Why you may wonder. I wanted to explore the world, get to know my allies in the Horde, and potentially build my reputation as an adventurer by chopping some wood or by cooking stew for old blind grandma. I just got started with the game and now I am supposed to be an envoy of the Horde and participate into negotiations with a troll empire.
Back in Orgrimmar I wandered to Warchief’s Command Board which gave me quest to journey to Jade Forest. Jade Forest sounded marvelous! Pandaria, uncharted land shrouded in mists. After a minor faction quarrel with some alliance dogs, I got to travel the lands of Pandaria. Jade Forest was beautiful, simply breathtaking. Serene music and visuals combined with threat of meteor shower casting zandalari troll warscout. I got confused, why Pandaria had warscouts from Zandalar Empire.
During my exploration of Jade Forest, I came across Urobi the Walker and decided to try my skills and luck against this rare pandaren. I charged at him, gripping my sword and shield, ready to bash, stomp and demoralize him but it was as if he had been waiting for me. He fought back with the ferocity of thousand storms. I managed to knock down his health however unbeknownst to me, he knew healing arts and healed nearly to full health. At first, I thought about retreating but that’s not the orcish way. This time I kept smashing him expecting him to heal and once I saw him starting to cast Healing Mist, I interrupted him with lightning-fast pummel and emerged victorious. Urobi dropped my first epic item, Pathwalker Greatstaff, which was useless for a protection warrior, but I decided to keep it as a reminder that I faced a furry yet deadly foe.
I also found my first dungeon, Temple of Jade Serpent. I tried to do it but unfortunately, I found out that as a new player I cannot get into old expansion dungeons. I had to figure out something else to do. While travelling around the Jade Forest, the island southwest kept piquing my interest. I decided to swim there and conquer the island. The swim was longer than I expected and of course I died of fatigue but got resurrected at the Isle. I found treasures, more epics and deadly foes, Death Adders, and angry burning cowmen. I spent well over 3 hours on Timeless Isle as level 35 trying to reach Ordon Sanctuary. Turns out you cannot get there anymore unless you played in Pandaria expansion and got some legendary item which is not available anymore? My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. I returned to Orgrimmar, disappointed and annoyed.
This is the end of my story for now. I wanted to conquer the Isle but without time machine it is not possible. I wanted to experience old dungeons but instead I was stuck with 6 Battle for Azeroth dungeons with people who told me to shut up or kms. In 14 hours of playing this game, my best interaction has been with a rare NPC Urobi the Walker.
Tol Dagor run easy and quick. I don’t know what happened, but I guess we went to a prison island to break into a prison and slapped the head honcho.
Waycrest Manor maze but we killed some cultists and met some inquisitors. Gorak Tul looks like a badass, I wonder if he is a raid boss.
Atal’Dazar golden temple full of bad trolls and corruption, so cool. I don’t understand why we killed the High Priestess who wanted to get rid of the corruption. Are we the bad guys? Though we killed the bad guys too.
Freehold looks cool, but we skipped everything else than last boss. I got yelled and was told to shut up when I asked if we could perhaps look around. Not the best experience.
The MOTHERLODE!! was half done when I got there, goblins and explosions. I got cool button trinket to shoot rockets out of my bumbum.
The Underrot is rotten.
Journey continues – part 2.
Determined to continue the journey, I decided to do one random battle for azeroth dungeon. I arrived at The MOTHERLODE!! and was happy that this time I could experience the whole dungeon. Sadly, the rest of the team wanted to skip every boss except the last one. I wonder what is the point of making bosses into dungeons if they are just skipped? Obviously, I was asking them if we could do the bosses and was out of their group with a cooldown on que. I like the feature which punishes the player for wanting to explore and experience the game.
Banished from dungeons, I got myself a flying mount and tasted freedom. Soaring through the skies. My first flight destination was the tree which was visible in the northern horizon of Orgrimmar. That tree is one tall tree. Around Azshara my flying mount struggled to fly higher so I decided to fly down at Ashenvale – Bough Shadow. The music was so calm and beautiful, it depicted the beautiful, lush forest I had landed to. I found a peculiar looking green twisting portal in Bough Shadow and it was guarded by green dragons. I assume it to be a dungeon or raid of some sort as I cannot enter it. I don’t understand what is going on in the game, the dragons are level 30, I am level 35 and I can kill them instantly. I landed critical hit of 62k to a rare bear level 30.
My journey continued in Ashenvale. I found alliance camp of Forest Song. As an orc I wanted to cause some mayhem and attacked the camp. I destroyed the alliance NPCs only to get one shotted by ?? level night elf npc. I decided to continue my journey and hopped on my flying mount, flew past the trees but then I noticed something in the east. Is it a burning building? Is it a volcano? It is Lord Magmathar! I tried to attack him as he was somewhat menacing but he just ignored me. Ashenvale is truly an enchanting environment until you move up to north and end up in Felwood. Ashenvale is what I think Felwood looked before goblin industrial revolution happened. (Once again I have no knowledge of the game, I was told that I should just focus on Battle for Azeroth quests and ignore the other expansions.)
I continued towards my original destination and landed in Rim of the World in Mount Hyjal where beautiful yet somber music started to play. What I assume once was lush forest was now in ashes and the wildfires were spreading. Remember… Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires.
At northwestern part of Mount Hyjal I found Grove of Aessina, a shrine guarded by centaur-like ladies. A tauren named Matoclaw told me story of Tyrus Blackhorn and shed some light of the mysterious spirit of Aessina. I am interested to see if I can learn more about them. Mount Hyjal has many shrines which I assume were made by night elves to worship the spirits of the nature, Aessina, Goldrinn, and Aviana. Finally, I reached my destination, the big tree on top of the world, Nordrassil. Even though my knowledge of this world is minimal, I know that this place is sacred. First of all, the music and environment are peaceful, second the night elves are in peace with hordes and even handed a quest for me, and third some evil cultists are attacking the place with their pet rocks. As a reward for destroying the cultists camp, I received awesome looking two-handed sword and had to switch from protection to arms.
Journey continues – part 3.
Back in Azeroth, at least for a while. I had conquered Mount Hyjal and seen glorious Nordrassil so it was time to do some leveling. During my adventures in Kalimdors northern forest zones the banishment from dungeons had worn off therefore I decided to give the random dungeon roulette another go. First, I got into brand new dungeon (note: brand new for me) Temple of Bipedal snakemen(?). Unfortunately, Kekmorg the Tank was Kekmorg the Tank replacement and got straight to last boss. That’s it for the brand-new adventure, I guess. I decided to give the dungeons, yet another go and was thrown into The MOTHERLODE!! of course. First time ever in a dungeon I had conversation with another player, a priest who had difficulties traversing the minefield that is after 2nd boss. I’d say that this dungeon run was my first positive experience in World of Warcraft dungeons. So far the groups have either been very hostile, verbally abusive, or both.
After 16 hours and 39 minutes of gametime I am level 37 warrior with 24 entered 5-man dungeons, 15 deaths in dungeons, 2 kicks from dungeon group for being a new player, 1 positive experience from dungeons, and 1 positive player interaction. I am not having fun with the game, because the game forces me to do some Troll Empire politics, and it makes no sense that I can one shot everything level 30 at Kalimdor which I still don’t understand. I miss my encounter with Urobi the Walker.
Journey continues – part 4.
I’ve had very hard time getting into World of Warcraft. The world lost its fun as I started to one shot monsters. I decided to relocate to Zuldazar to continue my journey in Zandalar. Princess Talanji said following line to me:
“Zandalar is beset by enemies, both within and without. Dis is why I went seeking de Horde… and why I call upon you, one of its greatest heroes.”
Zandalari people must got some bad intel or other horde heroes are super bad. I have 18 hours 31 minutes played and I am a level 38 orc warrior, how am I part of the greatest heroes of the Horde? Anyway, King Rastakhan named me to be Speaker of the Horde. I am getting so many titles for just attending.
“Your deeds had reached my ears before your feet ever set foot in my land. It is time we spoke”
I LITERALLY SAVED MY STRANDED SHIP CREW AND SLAPPED SOME OGRES, HARPIES AND SPIDERS BEFORE STEPPING ON YOUR LAND!?
P.S. I have beaten Vol’kaal and Yazma in Atal’Dazar multiple times, why are they standing next to the Zandalari king I do not know.
Anyway… I chose Vol’dun to be my next destination. After a quick flight and bad weather, I found myself to be jailed in a cave. Luckily, I got saved by a sand-rat called Nisha who asked me to help destroy some snakemen. Unfortunately, I underestimated the snakemen and got my spirit slapped out of my body. Usually, I have been greeted by a spirit healer but this time there was a new face greeting me. I wonder if each region has their own spirit healers as I have only died in Kalimdor and now in Zandalar.
After escaping the snake-pit with Nisha, I saved some polecats and got myself a new polecat-buddy called Poda! From here on forward I lost the motivation. Vol’dun has been painful to adventure without flying. I tried to find people to do 5-man WANTED! quest, but the zone is completely empty. I have leveled to 48 in depressing sands of Vol’dun. /played 1 day, 21 minutes. End of part 4.
