I mis-clicked something, using mouse and keyboard simultaneously, and voila, keyboard layout changed to some strange language. W and Z changed places, M now makes , and all the numbers makes strange letters or | / and such.
It’s an old bug, just like the whirligig-one. And it’s ONLY in WoW
writing in Word makes the expected characters.
I know the “cure” is close down and re-ope computer. But maybe someone knows which keys to press or click to correct this in-game.
I know the hand gesture if I’m sitting in front of my PC but looking at my phone it’s hard.
Try shift-alt
You went from azerty to qwerty or vice versa.
Sounds rigth, thanks. A modified qwerty is my normal one. I can wait because I did restart. But when you’re again in front of your PC I would be happy for the solution, I do this now and again
I use those layouts when not playing, so it’s not an option
Seems like I got the French keyboard this time. I hope I never get the Japanese one in-game, and sure hope Cokesniper tells me his secret keystroke later
This bar works fine outside of WoW, that’s what I use to change between languges/keyboards every day. And when I produced the described error, I of course went there first.
But Wow has its own, intern keyboard settings, that unfortunately does not show up in this bar, which showed my standard language setting all the time.
I am still waiting for Cokesniper 's secret ingame shortcut
PS going to try ALT + SHIFT ingame, thanks.
EDIT:
Some testing shows me that ALT + SHIFT cycles through your keyboard options, either in-game or out of the game depending on what is topmost on the desktop.
I made my character speak Japanese too, it showed up as empty squares as it is not supported, while movement was normal. All the while outside of the game the keyboard stubbornly remained on whatever layout option I had chosen when opening WoW.
EDIT 2:
WoW seems to have English keyboard overriding anyting on log-in, if you have English as your game-language. Which makes absolute sense because else you’d be in deep troubles writing your code and logging in if you accidentally changed keyboard lay-out to German, French or Japanese.
As you can read above, I tested thoroughly. Sometimes alt+shift needed 2 tries to work and with SHIFT enabled it was funky. But they worked for me, thanks
