So I Always had a little bit of a lag problem but it was managable however since 8.3 it has increased significantly.
Whenever I enter a crowded area or an instance I have to wait several minutes doing Nothing while assets load up, everytime I open a menu for the first time like my map I got lag, everytime I enter an instance I got lag, everytime a raid encounter starts I lag, everytime a pvp fight starts I lag.
My pc isn’t a warmachine but wow isn’t supposed to be a very demanding game, I have an nvidia GeForce gtx 1050ti and an intel core i5 and 8 g of ram. My internet isn’t too bad either as I live in a big city.
I tried to lower my graphic settings but it didn’t help, is it just the influx of players with a new patch that causes this ? Anything I can do to fix it ? I am not really an expert on the matter.
How much spare memory do you have? WoW devours your memory so that could be the problem if you are having very long loading times and things take a long time to appear on your screen. You may have to invest in an SSD if it becomes too problematic.
Yep… you are starting to get to the lower end of recommended spec…Ram and Graphics card upgrades would probably help for Shadowlands…I’m considering going up to 16gb Ram and an 8gb Graphics card around then, have also noticed increased lag/loading times, since 8.3.
I got a new PC at the beginning of BfA, but I went cheap on spec, to save cash… 4gb Ram/3gbGraphics and I was fairly sure by the end of the Expansion I would need to upgrade.
The game generally seems to default to the highest settings it thinks your PC will support… I always zero background clutter and tweak a couple of other settings to try to get good graphics without lag.
I was at about 95fps outside of major hubs and 65fps in major hubs at the beginning of BfA… its much lower now.
I also try to avoid having too many Apps open in the background while playing…Wowhead open in my browser, for example tends to add to lag
Your spec should still work in Shadowlands…but you might want to carefully go through your settings… background clutter…sunlight effects…water effects…etc can generally be moved down a notch, which should help.
i got this laptop i use it when im not home and i never, never had issue with lags nor latency
1050ti i5 8gb ddr4 120ssd
my settings are on high with 60 fps almost never droping below.
SSD hard drive will be helping… Fadecog could also check if anything has changed about his internet speed, router location, etc.
Use your main slider to take your WoW graphic settings down to 4, Fadecog…hit ‘Apply’, then restart your PC… let us know if it improves things… if not, the problem lies elsewhere.
So I have tried a bit of all the solutions proposed, I removed some add-ons, made some room on my pc, downloaded razer cortex and downed my setting from 7 to 6 before restarting my pc and so far it’s going a lot smoother. The lag when entering a crowded area went from several minutes to a few seconds though I still have to test stuff like raids and pvp. Thanks for the tips though, at least I can do open world stuff again
I am Running wow on a really old machine and it runs on about setting 3 (1080p windowed fullscreen, 720p scaling) and it acctually runs ok considering it only has 4Gb RAMand a AMD A8 5600k APU. My main system is much better though and never have any lag (Ryzen 5 1600, 16Gb RAM, GTX 1060 6GB). It’s mainly settings and tweaking for your hardware
Not sure if this helps, but in addition to everything people said, you could also try updating your drivers and checking for any viruses and spywares with antivirus and antispyware softwares. Just in case.
