That video is massively misleading about Esfand though, enough that Blizzard had to clarify.

I think it’s obvious it was a mistake. Specifically when you’re on layer “x” you’re on a virtual realm of the maps making up the game. Now, it should have been obvious this only applies to world (base) maps and not instance maps.
But, someone didn’t think and had it work on any map. Crazy and I’d think an obvious consideration. But, at the end of the day we don’t know how they implemented layering, and perhaps they thought they’d blocked it but hadn’t.
There’s been a lack of testing at Blizzard (and to be fair, I see it throughout the development industry as a whole, and it irks me) for quite a few xpacs. This isn’t a new phenomenon.
The difference is that usually they’ve had an extensive closed beta with multiple invite waves and often a final open beta. This time it was different. Who knows if they would have picked up this bug before if there was a wider beta though. All speculation at this point.
From the ques. I ment it as players on that server, obviously, they can’t all be online at the same time, but can you immagine the riot after layering gets removed and the ques go back to 30k+?
Nah, dude. Blizzard shat the bed hard with layering. Players, including me, expected a real classic recreation with 50+ servers. Deal with the dead ones when the time comes, instead of trying to fix a problem that may or may not come to exist…
And Dungeons.
The answer is probably bad and insufficient testing by a rather incompetent company of whom too many deem WoW Classic a ‘joke version’ ‘that doesn’t really matter’.
I also find the apparent cronysim involved in how the cases where seemingly handled - you wait in line for your Ticket, you do not get a GM/Blizz employee involved that you personally know - rather amateurish.
Apparent lack of integrity - which includes releasing a bug-riddled productfor full money - is to me the main issue.

Don’t follow you exactly, once layering is gone server capacity itself will stay the same, nothing will change just layers will be removed, each layer is not a server by itself just a separate instance.

Thing is back then servers were small not because Blizzard wanted them to be that way, it was a limitation of the time, any bigger servers and you would risk instability and other issues. Now they can dish out huge server capacity, I expect it to stay at ~10k.
Maybe, but the game is designed around 4k-5k pop servers. Playing on one with 15k-20k people online at the time is a nightmare. The game becomes unplayable. If Blizzard remove layering with the current server capacity, the game instantly dies, because you won’t be able to do anything in the open world. It will be just one huge battle ground.

I understand your concern, but in all honesty, game world can support 2x the amount of people compared to original servers, again I’ve got direct experience playing 14k peak online private server, and it was playable and fun, lvling required more grouping though.
Blizzard can increase capacity of each server to 20-30k easily to remove queues, but they won’t because it would be disastrous once phase 2 launches, so current server capacity is what they think game world can support without feeling overcrowded.
