Layers and Character Creation Adjustments on Select Realms

“We’re going to continue that process over the first few weeks until eventually we will collapse down, we promise we will do this, to a single world per realm, no sharding, none of this going forward. We know that needs to happen before we do something like turn on the world bosses for example. When we have Kazzak and Azuregos, there needs to only be ONE Kazzak ever and if the entire server wants to fight over it and kill each other for 5 hours, that’s what they should do. The answer can never be just have a second Kazzak, if we do that it’s not classic.”

yes ofc, but the issue was already there before - the servers were just not capable of handling the full range of vanilla experience - period. We would see issues like slight lagging during onyxiabufftime now with the bigger player base due to corona and experience other minor inconveniences. But the game just became straight up unplayable because blizzard refused to go with the appropriate hardware.

Thought about stopping exaggerating ?

The thing is that some of these realms don’t have a queue problem at all which makes this decision seem like a cointoss. Yes - the pandemic happened and it made things worse, but enabling layering is just a bandaid fix to an underlying problem that’s been there since they launched this project. Get rid of the cloud computing bullcrap and the server performance will soar.

disgusting, why would you do that instead of banning like 200k bots?

People using CORONAVIRUS as an excuse for Blizzard’s total incompetence for problems that existed months before coronavirus bats were even EATEN, no words. :man_facepalming:

(also all BFA players, an interesting coincidence)

so where do new French PVE players go if Auberdine is locked?

This pretty much kills the #nochanges.

Might as well sort out spellbatching while you’re at it.

Talking about incompetence while making such statements is pretty ironic
You’re also assuming way too much, a Brit once said ‘‘assuming makes an assout of u and me’’.
Of course we all hate the server issues, but equally hate the long 4-5k queues. You can pretend to be all high and mighty and claim that Blizzard should’ve done it differently at the start and or before the Corvid-19 crisis, but what is stating the obvious going to do? Something has to happen about the queues, their post states what they tried and they looked at the data and it didn’t do much, so now they temporary are going to do this.

Get off your high horse  Also, me playing BFA has nothing to do with my opinion on the matter, I’ll enjoy not spending my afternoon going through hoops to stay logged in and or queue on time for my raid in the evening, if you don’t mind that, then maybe Blizzard should opt for priority queue and you can have my spot in line while I’ll play.

You thought about learning from the past? They will remove layering just after P1 Right? Right? Right?

So you are just ignoring the fact that everyone in EU is home atm and thus ppl are coming back to wow / playing every single day. Like have you heard of covid19?

My god…

This is once again an awful decision.
The current state of the servers is really bad. I still can’t believe how the oficial servers can be worse than the pservers. Your incompetence is astonishing.
It saddens me to see how you are not worthy of carrying the very game you yourselves created more than 15 years ago.

You should shut down classic and give the IP to someone else more capable of making this project a more enjoyable experience. Thanks.

I wouldn’t try to argue against angry mob culture anymore to be honest

Yeah, because Blizzard did something stupid, let’s just pile on and suggest a bunch of other nonsense. Since there’s now layering again, why not also add LFR, Transmog, CRZ, Flying, WoW Token? LETS PARTY GUYS

the issue that the server hardware wasn’t capable of handling the player base was there before and just got worse due to the rise in active players due to covid-19. Stuff like the completely unenjoyable wPVP due to horrible server lags was there before and they chose to ignore it as long as the game kept on running somehow. Now that really everyone was affected by the hours of queue, they offer a fix that gets rid of just the queue, but removes a lot of essential game features in the process. This tradeoff is not worth it and its a mistake to sacrifice one aspect of the game to fix an issue elsewhere. Instead they should supply proper hardware and ensure that the servers aren’t getting terribly overcrowded and imbalanced due to mass transfers into stronger factions or mass transfers off of weaker factions.

Nice English

Yeah I agree with you 100%

But this is Blizzard and I doubt they are going to use money on new hardware for a 15 year old game. Afterall its playable and they are a company dont forget. So layering is the better option for them.

yip, this seems to be the sad reality.

This explains why my queue was 400 on firemaw at 7pm UK yesterday. They are only telling us about this now, 5 hours later.

the thing is there is literally no way we, the players, can make our opinion be heard - if we would mass quit the game they would just take it as “see? we were right all along - you thought you want it, but you actually didn’t!” - instead of thinking about what they could’ve done better.
