No, that’s bad as well. This is an MMORPG, gear is one of its most-important mechanics. Skill should empower gear, not replace it. If you remove the gear from the equation, you also remove the fun, and it beats the entire purpose of an MMO game. WoW should not be an esport. Many a game has been ruined because, in an effort to make it fair, they made it unfun.
For you.
The less external grind involved, the more PvP I’m free to play without having to worry about performance, the more fun I’m having.
I value fair competition more than “the MMO feel”. It’s a matter of preference, and since we can’t please everyone, I think a fair middle ground is best.
I believe WoD was the closest we had to that fair middle ground.
I think given the huge outcry of the playerbase when such a system was introduced in Legion it’s pretty safe to say majority of players feel that way.
You are.
I value fair competition, too, but not at the cost of fun. Fun > fair. I firmly believe we can make the game fair and fun at the same time, but Resilience or templates and not the way to go about it.
I mentioned WoD though. What did you think about its approach to PvP gearing?
Classes were better in WOD, it’s from Legion that went down the drain.
I didn’t actually play WoD, so I don’t have any experience with its system. But from what I’d read, it still puts anyone playing in a game ‘mode’ that their gear isn’t intended for at a disadvantage. It might’ve been better than Resilience, I wouldn’t know, but it still sounds worse than not having any PvP/PvE differentiation shenanigans at all.
The only reason people didnt like it (And I didnt like one aspect of it) was how OP one neck was on DH’s.
it shouldnt take 10 horde to kill 1 DH who wasnt in tank class fyi.
Not really.
How it worked was:
- PvP gear had a lower ilvl in the outside world
- PvP gear’s ilvl would jump to top PvE ilvl in PvP
For example, mythic raid ilvl was 740, and conquest gear was ilvl 710 and it’d jump to 740 in PvP.
If you come in PvP with PvE gear, you still had a high ilvl because your items just have a “raw” ilvl that’s higher.
Besides, PvP gear was reaaaaaaaaaally fast to get. And I mean, fast. In addition to honor, you’d often receive honor gear pieces randomly at the end of a random BG.
I had 6 alts in WoD and I played them all in PvP because once you reached max level, you could get a full set of Honor gear (ilvl 700, jumps to 730) in a day or two, and catch up to conquest gear within a week.
Extremely alt-friendly expansion for PvP.
PvP gear was the best for PvP, it was fast to get, but PvE gear wasn’t garbage either.
Let’s make this happen.
I would be scared if Slapface was my boss.
Why is that? Am I too cheerful and endearing?
I don’t know. Its just something about you, i just can’t put my finger to it. You’re making me nervous.
Hey, let’s make this working.
Good thing you are not game lead designer, we would be taking a big step back in this game ^^ you also forgot removal of LFR, manual entrance to BG and gold reset
Let’s do this.
I like this. Great suggestions. I played in WotLK and it was really nice to get justice, valor etc and just buy whatever you need. Instead of getting another necklace that you already have, because F you.
Does late Legion class states mean that Destruction warlocks get their ember system back? Please say it is so.
