When wass it that blizz introduced the stats boost if you used the right kind of armor for your class above lvl 30?
I cant really remember but wass that not in vanilla wow?
It came in Cataclysm, just like many other changes.
Retail newb. Armour type is not a factor to if you want to roll. Stats are king, not if it’s the best armour type for you.
Except that there is much less +healing and spirit gear with leather and plate than cloth. There are also plenty of cloth items with +damage/healing which are equally desirable for a warlock or a holy paladin.
Like DPS, they aren’t going to shut out the other armor classes when they are perfectly good sources of stats for a few extra points of armor.
Armor is all but useless for a healer in PvE, and it’s the only advantage plate/mail/leather have over cloth.
I’m trying to figure out if this is sarcasm or not.
I’ve been playing for a very long time, so it’s nothing new to me, but I can understand the frustration that some people feel.
A warrior needing on leather when a rogue also needs…
That is simply ninja-looting in my eyes. Armor class above all defines who should need on a item.
Everyone who thinks different should l2p.
If you steal leather from a rogue while you are a mail or even plate user, you are a filthy ninja-looter.
I don’t give a crap about your made-up BiS lists or whatever you like to call 'em.
Then you understand the difference between noob and newb. You know the thing about Pally healers in cloth, rare is Retail but not in classic.
That is sooo retail, it’s scary,
If u have more armor the scummy rogues have harder time to kill u gives u more time to kill them back or play lock have buff with armor and drain all life
If you’re not min/maxing in this game you’re gonna have a bad time.
Except I’m talking purely about PvE, where armor is irrelevant for everyone except tanks.
Why?
Why does armor class define who should Need? What is your reasoning for that statement?
It’s the retail philosophy. And lack of knowledge of some players.
It’s only the retail philosophy because it’s enforced by game mechanics (the +5% stat bonus and none-appropriate items not counting towards item level).
Not in Classic it isn’t, all armour is in classic is a number.
Rogue can wear leather and cloth.
Warrior can wear plate, mail, leather and cloth.
Warrior > rogue.
I know that, you said “it’s a retail philosophy”. I take retail to mean Battle for Azeroth, where it’s only a retail philosophy because Blizzard forced it to be.
It’s not just a retail philosophy.
Warrior dungeon/tier sets are all Plate
Hunter dungeon/tier sets are all Mail
etc.
While it has never been enforced (until the release of Cataclysm with 5%), there was still a progression there. Warriors started out with mail, and in time (level 40) progressed to plate. If anything, it’s Blizzard poor itemization that created this problem to start with.
That’s right since that 5% is the reason most people think Armour type is king, which in Classic that 5% is missing so it doesn’t matter at all, stats are king.
Poor itemization is certainly the cause, but since that’s the way it is don’t expect the status quo of Warriors, Paladins, Hunters, Druids and Shamans rolling on “sub-class” armor pieces for PvE to ever change.
Even in PvP it can be beneficial to run as a glass cannon, because armor is useless against spell casters anyway.
Nono, that is Vanilla. Your BiS list bullcrap is what is retail. Now go.
You’re wrong again. How many shamans I have seen getting one shot putting their totems for the tank at Ony, or just at landing, or at Domo when a add breaks free. Warriors pulling agro on a trash mob with a unlucky double WF-proc and dieing with their leather. This is all the sh*t I see happening all the time while raiding.
The hard reality is that the players who DO wear their proper gear actually perform better on average because they stay alive in these situations.
In real world raiding, sh*t happens all the time and things don’t go always as planned, especially when people start slacking a bit after having done the fights over and over.
I mean if u can have a shield with like 5000 armor why shouldnt u use it instead of have off hand with 10 spell dmg 15 int and then lose .0005 dps? Its just maths for ppl in the real world not robots and hackers
