Night elf doesnt make sense for the litteral āhunterāā¦ just to be running around and hunting/killing animals seems to be the exact oposite of what they actualy do believe in.

I think thats the key TBH. Any race can be the ābestā hunter raceā¦if you have the right pets and mog.

I really like Darkspear troll hunters, might be because of Jellybeans.
That said my hunter is currently a belf. Nelf is also really cool esp. with engi goggles.

This, but I have no idea about crossbows. I only really saw draenei with itā¦ so them maybe, on that weapon type?
Well. The humans would technically fit the bill on them. Too complex for ātradionalist elvesā, yet too simple for more mechanical thinking dwarfs or gnomes. 
Crossbows smells Blood Elves a long way. Also given how mechanical crossbows can be, the tinkered versions are definitely a weapon for the Gnomes.
