Level 30 and only 16 Gold

Ah…!!!
Well I guess it’s not too late then lol.
I was thinking of selling the drops more when I reach level 40.
But thanks for the tips ! I’ll sell everything now then !

Don’t forget to make a bank alt, which is one that can store stuff and sell it on the AH, it can be a level 1, I use a dwarf as it’s easier to get from the mailbox to the AH in Ironforge.

You don’t have to go to a main city and waste gold on flying so you can sell stuff on your level 30 then. You can just mail the stuff to your bank alt.

Yep, although I’m not so sure the drop rate is good enough. Note that he isn’t 40 and doesn’t have a mount. Herbing will be much slower, while in some areas fish schools will respawn quickly enough to just move back to “start” and continue fishing.

I think I had around 30 gold at level 30, as memory serves.

How much you make from the AH depends heavily on your server. On my server a Flask of The Titans sells for around 7g per potion, 20 Winterspring Firewater sells for around 8g, 20 Stonescale Eel sells for around 10-15g, 20 Mountain Silversage sells for around 10g and Black Lotus sells for around 10g each.

On these huge megaservers, the mats I mentioned sell for hundreds gold, because the populations are massive, and the economy is dominated by extremely rich players who make tonnes of gold through boosting, DGKP etc, which feeds lot of gold into the economy, and really drives up prices.

If you have 16 gold at L30, and you’re not playing on one of the huge megaservers where mats sell for hundreds then you’re not doing terribly, but clearly you’re not using your gold as efficiently as you might.

Can I ask if you’re buying anything? Are you buying items from the AH, or mats to level your professions? What are your outgoings?

Just go play on highpop server and sell herbs which are valuable. I had much more than 100g when I reached lvl40 and more than 1k gold when I got to 60. Economy is so inflated that you can make a ton of gold by knowing what’s the resoucre the people need for naxx raids or what people stockpiling before tbc.

I thought that Pyrewood Village was one of the most populated server for Classic, no ?
I try to never buy anything from the AH. I want to craft everything myself and collect mats as much as possible.

IDK, if it’s “High” on server selection screen about the same time as Shazzrah/Gehennas etc then it should be highly-populated.

Alchemy is good, you can make FAPs pretty early, which sell pretty well.

Don’t worry, you are a warlock and the lvl 40 mount is free! As others have said, it picks up past 40 anyway

No - it’s acquired when picking Briarthorn or Magreroyal as an extra item that can be in thier loot-table.

You get some Briarthorn or some Mageroyal and a chance at also looting some Swiftthistle.

I hope this makes sense now!

At 37ish I head to badlands and farm earth elementals till lvl 40. Elemental earth sell for 3-4g each on my realm. Easy mount money,

My warr made about 300g by the time I hit 40 (Altough it sold for 5g each at the time that I did it)

Thats a very normal amount of gold at that level.

Casual player here too. You can make decent money from herbalism. Wild Steelbloom, gravemoss, blindweed all sell very well. Stacks of cloth always sell. Get the “Dejunk” addon or similar too and it’ll vendor all your grey items at the push of a button. Keep at it, and be sure to auction off as much as you can

Pretty standard for your first char, as other people here have said

Though you should indeed sell greens and blue’s (and ofc epics) on the ah, even if it’s for a few gold. Herbalism is a mixed bag, you can get lucky and find an empty zone/place to farm but other times you run around a place 30+ mins without finding a single node.

Quests and mobs give and drop you decent gold when you’re 40+ so I wouldn’t worry.

Herbalism becomes interesting after lvl 40+. Then you come in range of herbs which are worth from half a gold to over a gold, at least on my server.
I also would take mining instead of tailoring for the leveling phase, at the moment even mithiril is worth something.
You can level up tailoring once you reached 60 much easier, just get rid of it for now.

go herbalism

Yeah that’s normal, the gold gain will ramp up the higher level you get. Personally, I was only able to afford my 60% mount at level 45.

Hello friend,

In mega servers you can actually make a lot of gold by just selling everything. I had a char in that kind of server and at lvl 40 i bough my mount without a problem and at 46 i had almost 400g by selling everything in ah trough bank char like Dottie said. I was herb/ mining and believe me … Iron/ mithril/ stones/ switherb/ fadeleaf and a lot more are sellike like mad!

Make a bank char, mail him everything, sell everything, profit!

I’ve done this. Only started playing again about a month ago from level 40 but seems not much is selling. Might be because TBC will be out soon but I’m ending up vendoring quite a bit of stuff. Fast riding is out of reach for a little while…

Do some research and farm things people will need to level proffs at tbc, things like gems from mining will surge in price soon/already have… there will also be many people skilling LW in prep for tbc so leathers will all sell. I don’t know AH situation on bigger servers but these may help!
