Leveling 2 priests to 60 (your opinion)

Priest is my favorite class, however it pains me that I won’t be able to play both Shadow and a healer in the same time because there’s no duel spec and changing specs can be expensive.
I will make 1 alliance and 1 horde priest.
Do you think that this is dumb or no?

It’s not important what we think about it. You do whatever you like, no one gets to judge your preferences and when they do - it’s their problem, not yours.

I considered doing that, and I still may - it’s two separate factions, so go for it.

Honestly you do whatever you want to do, if you want a different leveling experience for each character so it doesn’t get tedious, then sure horde and alliance. But I’d recommend going horde for shadow as the leveling is a tad easier.

This is not dumb, I know people who lvled up the same class twice. And if that is the class you like the most, go for it. No point lvling up something you don’t enjoy.

Sounds fine for me, i have leveled two warlocks at once too, might do it here also (mainly because of queues)

Thanks but my concern is not what other think whether it is wise to level the same class just because spec swapping is expensive, or maybe it’s not that expensive?

Depends how often you have to swap, it caps at 50g per change if i remember correctly.

I used to have 2 DKs back in dual spec days because I wanted tank, DPS, and PvP specs. Turns out it was a waste of time and I ended up sticking to my main anyway.

Does the 50g lower over time and is it a lot of g in classic?

Level in shadow, because when you put some points into holy you can easily heal all dungeons until around level 50. Nobody expects you to level with a healing spec because that is a nightmare. Around level 50-60 (or make it 60, if you will, better idea) you should respec once and then you can play healer. I recommend respecing on 60.

It’s not dumb. Iirc priests get a specific race ability. Undead gets a nice dps one and humans increased spirit or so I think?

I can’t speak for vanilla but in WotLK, Holy was the leveling spec until about level 55-60. Shadow was a nightmare to level because of mana control until you get the talents.

It lowers 5g per month afaik.
I think it might be hefty sum if you have to swap several times a week, but that’s just my perspective

Not the case for classic. Shadow is recommended to level in because the other two are not great for leveling at all. Spirit tap level 5 / wand to level 5 and you are good to go mainly. Oh and mindblast, of course!

Or to make it short: there is a reason why shadow priests are known as face melters. If it’s in their level range.

Actually, you really just need spirit tap, and the wand talent, keep your wand up to date and you’re good.

Shadow only become interesting when you have shadowform (and still have the wand talent so 45), and by then you can just as well finish with holy/disc as well, it will be slightly slower for solo, but dungeons become slightly harder as well and you will enjoy the added comfort on healing.

As for OP, depending on the method you use to make money, it takes 1 to 2 hours to get the 50g for respec at lvl 60.
Leveling a new character is over 100h play time I believe? Not counting the time to equip it with good end game stuff.

So it’s only efficient (if you are only doing it for the respec) after much more than 100 Respec (probably twice as much), if you Respec twice a week that’s 1 year…

Of course if you want to experience both side, it’s totally legit!

leveling priest right now, and it’s a pain… definitely wouldn’t want to level second priest

I leveled 2 holy priests staying holy the whole time and yes, it sux donkeyballs.
Although if u find someone to team up with, it can be quite enjoyable.

Also bear in mind they would be on different servers, as you can’t have both Alliance and Horde characters on the same realm.

Only on PvP realms though.

Yup, as expected. Shadow has a very smooth leveling process, while holy and disc is… the worst you can imagine. I would put it beneath paladin and warrior in terms of how painful it is.

Yeah definitely under warrior. I alsof leveled 2 warriors long ago and they are way more fun to level. Especially after lvl 40.
