Leveling a priest but also want to heal

Hi,
So in classic what is best way to be viable while leveling but still be really good for dungeon healing while leveling?
I’m thinking if I just go holy tree it will make solo questing painful?
The want talents look nice but not sure where to start.
Thanks

Go shadow and up until end game you will be able to heal dungeons.
Honestly I’m fine as a retri paladin healing dungeons, with priest it’s even easier

Just go wand spec, spirit tap and all the way to shadow. You can heal dungeons just fine until like strat/scholo/brs.

I’m using a shadow priest to heal in dungeons, doesn’t really affect you that much.

Agree with the others. A lot of the Holy talents don’t make a huge difference when your heals aren’t that big. Then again; I’m Holy for dungeon levelling as I don’t enjoy questing on a Priest, but that’s just me

I appreciate the replies thank you!

Shadow, you can EASILY heal dungeons. As for questing. As you have PW:S and PW:F don’t value stamina too much, if you have a choice between int and spirit. Always go for that.

As far as spec goes. The early wands are powerful enough for you to skip improved Wands at 10. Go for spirit tap instead. After that, yea, sure, go wands.

Keep in mind, if you do end up going for the wand. At level 40 you’ll want to respec to get shadowform. You could wait five levels, but I wouldn’t. But honestly, I’ve been fine without wand spec.

Yes it is on be viable (wand/life tap-hydro builds) slow killing but u never go out of mana, but as ppl mention talends dont really affect but makes diference on you game play as like how many times u will be need wait the party for u drink water cause u shadowheal drains mana.

My Mrs is levelling as shadow and is doubling as my pocket healer as well. No issues so far but she is only level 20.

Punkrat actually made a video on this stating that priest is pretty sweet with leveling due to the heals you have and saves downtime.

You would wand a whole lot saving mana and stack as much spirit as you can to further decrease downtime.

Will look up the vid

Thanks all for the kind replies.

I leveled my priest (40 for now) with Holy talents. Of course you need Wand spec and Spirit tap, but then you can spec in Holy, getting improvements on Holy fire and Smite, and also some healing talents that can be useful in dungeons. You should do less dps while leveling, but you won’t notice the difference.

Get the reduce threat talents and thats it. dont really need to specc that much into holy anyway…

Before I started raiding, I was even healing 60 dungeons as shadow without issues.

waves Hello there

How on earth have you reached 40+ twice already?

You’ve done exactly what I wanted to do, Mage for gold, Priest main.

Play what ever you want, but… be warned that currently it seems like more than 25% of the player base i playing priest.

For priests it doesn’t really matter what you spec because wand is main source of damage.

I’ve been leveling as disc/holy. First in disc tree got 5/5 wand, improved power words, Meditation, Inner Focus. Then went to holy tree to improve healing and get Holy Nova. So far that’s it.

Difference is quite big in dungeons. Never running out of mana, improved buffs help everyone, can easily heal big pulls where groups otherwise wipe. Shadow priests can heal dungeons, but they won’t handle big pulls that well.

In world when questing Holy Nova is awesome aoe for big pulls when doing group quests. Does more damage than mages, while also healing everyone. Its very mana intensive though, so next thing I’m going for is 5/5 Mental Agility.

By taking time off from my very active social life  Had week 1 off as I don’t really use my holiday for much else. Then Mage, as you know, is a cakewalk.
