Leveling in retail is getting worse

If they stick to defining characteristics of wow then is should fine. Visual identity and tab targeting combat should be a must imo.

It is for retail

It started from open world scaling. You don’t have motivation to level, and feeling “ohh I want to finally level up on this zone” anymore.

I have over 34 charatcers leveled up so far.
Character at lvl 10 (it doesn’t have to be twink) one shots everything on dungeons. 70lvls also do that, and the higher level you have you are feeling way way weaker.
For example lvl 10 kills the mob in 1-2 sec.
lvl 70in 2-4s.
AND 79 in 12s.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? It’s not even an item level issue. You would have to have insane ilvl almost compared to the one from 80lvl to do nearly as much dmg as lvl 70 having lvl 79.
At lvl 70 I can use 2 casts to heal one guy on the dungeon, but at lvl 79 I have to literally sweat to keep up the group alive, and sometimes it’s impossible especially on classic TW.

Leveling experience is so terrible now that I don’t wonder why there’s no new players in the game as much as it should, because casual aspect in TWW at 80lvl is pretty good right now. Where is RPG aspect? The journey?
I started playing classic fresh finally, and it reminded me how good this game used to be. Every single item on your character matters, and you feel great getting blue, purple or even green item… And you feel that power. The mobs you were scared of or they almost one shotted you, you are smashing them down after some getting levels.
Imo retail leveling is way too fast, and classic leveling is too long. WotLK leveling was peak for me. The perfect world would be when you combine good aspects from classic and retail (mostly QoL changes from retail).

Scaling is a terrible mechanic that shouldn’t exist in any MMO RPG. It’s poor and LAZY design to please crybabies that want to level up with their friends. And because of changes like these over the years retail looks how it looks.

I hate todays Retail leveling. It is totally unnecessary and from the perspective of the story, it makes the whole lore before current expansion unnecessary. Leveling should also be a part of the game, not something to do pro forma before starting the game. I don’t see why can’t you progress linearly through the story, teaching you how to play your class correctly, introducing you to one of the largest fantasy world and its lore and to proggresively prepare you for the current expansion. Instead, you are thrown in a middle of series, unaware of its background with unsatisfying progressing system that is called retail leveling, without risk of getting killed and leveling up every 10 minutes.
