Leveling is braindead

I don’t have that gear.

Well, for some they work on that once it’s time to do so - and leveling is just means to an end.

I remember a group of five of us doing some humans on the stress test for Classic and it took forever to get all the drops in the mine. We decided this was not a good way to level

Group of five is good if you spam dungeons together, not while questing outdoors.

It was a stress test and we were all experimenting what we’d want to play. I’d never tried Classic Pala so I was giving it a whirl. Hated it so that was a no go

We ended up going Horde and I was a hunter instead.

Levelling to me is a chance to have fun exploring the new content being released, it’s theme and stories.

At starter levels for new players, it is exploration and getting used to basic game systems stress free while having fun.

Giving new people a long, overwhelming chore list of stuff to memorise, learn, and judgement, rather than support from impatient veteran players sounds like a recipe for disaster.

New players should be able to do what they want, not be viewed as fresh meat for funnelling into raid and dungeon content just cos it is Ion’s favourite content.

In game learning systems should be optional, good, available on demand, interesting and rewarding to do.

As much as it is “brain dead” or easier compared to end game stuff I think levelling is pretty fun for newcomers, it was for me and I do want to play endgame content.

Majority of MMO players don’t really do or look forward to doing end game content. If you throw in raid mechanics into levelling, casual players (or to be hardcore players) will probably drop the game much quicker

Yarp - and they said that they remade the world in Cataclysm and made leveling easier, because most new players quit before level 20.

Levelling is completely irrelevant to that game, should just make it optional.

Reading that hurt my eyes, mind, and heart.

And posted with a level 60 character too, so you have not leveled your character (or at least that one).

Like they wrote on several other MMOs message boards : post with your main if you want to be taken seriously.

Leveling is a means to an end, you learn the very basic stuff, the rest you have to figure it out.
Guess why the “autoplay” addons are popular…

Everyone is talking about new players, but what about the fact that even veterans are too overwhelmed to pilot their character properly and resort to stuff like hekili?

And why is that

I boosted this character just for the name but okay.

Probably because of my neurodivergent mental architecture : for me, leveling a character and learning about it’s capabilities is the most interesting and fun part of a class/spec.

The “gearing up” and “M+ Score raising” become boring, repetitive chores quite quickly for me.

To the point of not even wanting to log into the game some days.

Ah.

I can understand that, but without prior knowledge, I made a silly mistake.

My genuine apologies.

But, again probably because my mind functions in weird ways, why would it be laughable to post on message boards with your main character to be taken seriously ?

That “internet saying” arose from the nasty habit of some people that created tons of alts to reply to their own threads made with their main character and boost the visibility of said thread (often trolling ones, too), while agreeing with themselves, of course, with the side effect of boosting their number of views, likes and other bits that unlocked further message boards features.

It got the the point, on the Anarchy Online and EvE Online official message boards, that the Devs had to disable the option to post on message boards with anything else than your most advanced character.

Yes, I’m a 49-yo relic of the past, but I still consider that not being a troll is a healthy attitude.

Complete opposite for me, m+ is the only thing i enjoy and am willing to play :face_with_spiral_eyes:

No worries :33

It isn’t, but I personally don’t care who the person behind the post is, as long as it’s a quality post.
