Darran No the problem is the way it was before 7.3.5!
You mean when the game was fun and you could level how you want? Yeaaaah sooooo broken mate!
We've just applied a hotfix that reduces the damage dealt by creatures between level 1 and 100 by up to 16%, and their health by up to 24%. Until a subsequent fix (targeted for next week) to update clients with the new data, unit frames may not reflect the change in creature health, but combat should be faster and a bit less lethal across the board while leveling.
Thank you for your patience - we'll continue to monitor both logs and feedback closely, and will make further tweaks if needed.
An excellent start!
Though I feel XP rewards need to be looked at, especially 60-80. Even with heirlooms and the monk buff I don't feel like I'm leveling especially quickly and I shudder to think what it's like leveling WITHOUT heirlooms right now.
This also doesn't address the problem of having tons of 'dead levels' where you can go for stretches of ten levels or more without unlocking a single new ability, passive or talent. It's pretty painful and I hope it's something that is looked into.
Ive come to the conclusion, either ppl are not using all of their abilities, or they are just horrible bad players.
Yeah, a big percent of the player base had the EXACT same problem, but YOU are fine so it's probably their fault...
I guess it's something but it doesn't help much. Hope they can get it fixed sometime soon.
I know... people won't like it but: isn't it time to talk about compensation? I've seen my wife (and some others) staying away a week from playing because levelling has been all over the place (we were 'lucky' to have a few alts in the 60-80 bracket).
I'm willing to bet this whole patch have left a sour taste that won't go away before the launch. It will only make that BFA launch more sensitive than it should have when problems arise.
I've happily done leveling in 60-80 bracket(especially in Grizzly Hills, Borean Tundra was a bit boring). I had no problem whatsoever using unenchanted heirlooms. I will continue without enchants to see what are you people complaining about. Panda was very fast - I am already disapointed in how Pandaria dungeons offer absolutely no challenge compared to TBC / Wotlk one.
Compensation for what? Did you read the agreement page before you accepted and proceeded into installing the game?

This!
I have yet to see anything remotly challenging.
No ide what ppl are on about.
Done 40-55 easy.
60-65 boring but easy.
Pandaria and Draenor went incredibly fast, and at no point was there a hint of challenge.

Mostly the ones on these forums, who can't take their time and play the game. Most of the ones that do play the game and actually level a char don't come here to complain.

Get off heirlooms, take whites from quest and try do quest in Silithus....
Oh, look bunch of Blizzard's whiteknights arrived. Yes, that's you Darran, Anybody and Taurash.

Thank god no one is complaining about leveling being hard. Looks like you missed the point of the thread.
Killing a mob with 8 Frostbolts is not harder or more engaging than killing the same mob in 4 Frostbolts.
Sorry to break it to you, but leveling right now is not hard, not engaging and not fast. Just one loooong chewing gum.

I only said: talk about it. I can take it or leave it. Some people are more effected than others after all.
There was a time they threw you a free day for a maintenance that took a bit longer. Not saying that should come back, but when you have experienced that you look at this mess and start thinking about it.
The situation now: a patch being screwed up which they admit to. More maintenance time to fix it up. Levelling issues, they are rather situational though (Level brackets, zones, classes, dungeons and certain mobs can quite differ in experience).
So I only wondered if this wasn't worth a form of compensation. BFA is coming fast and they still haven't found the issue. Mind you we have a Beta and test servers... yet this all made its way to live (bit like how they pushed 7.3.5 too fast without proper testing).
Either way, you don't have to get personal at me. Like I said I'm fine with whatever. I am more interested in what others thought about it.
snip
20h is fine, you could probably shave off a lot more time if you really tried.
45h may be for fine for new players, but not for most of the veteran players that've played more than 2 or 3 characters to max level.
Especially not if you have full heirlooms, mount from level 1 and access to e.g pet battle dailys (they give a lot).
I think it is a bit hard to quantify in hours for me.
If the 45 hours would feel rewarding, you have a good sense of progression. You have your rotation skills... it could even be longer without it feeling too long.
Currently I want it faster because a lot has been taken away. Which makes it less enjoyable. Sure the same quests isn't helping but to me that is less of a problem. They could spruce up levelling with world quests in the old expansions adding a few once in a while.
What could help levelling as well is making it a bit less of a mess story wise... but thats not really feasible unless you make a shallow expansion or push a new expansion to a later date. Doubt the investment would make sense.

definitely an improvement and killing mobs isn't that slow now, exp from quests still needs a little bit of an increase though imho
I want levelign faster because I know all classes but I want make a new race, or start playin on both side. So I make alt and even for me leveling now is slow because I need do my rotation 3-4 times and this is boring and no hard. Also some creatures still have spells bugs and dmg scaling bugs.
Balancing leveling seems like a doubbleedge sword, without a handle. If you make leveling hard it not only rewards good players who can masspullwithout dieing because they ... use their abilities and cooldowns but it also serves as a learning curve for starting players.
But then you always have players who feel overwhelmed by the environment and complain because they cant pull 10 mobs anymore and beat them by rolling their head over the keyboard. I get leveling should be chill and easy but how easy is easy enough?
Personally I think choice is the best way to go. If you want to level easy you can pull 1 mob at a time and take it slow. If you leveled a bunch of characters already, go wild pull everything and obliterate it. If you dont have the skill but you still want to level faster, group up with someone running around in the area.
I believe the challenge fosters player interaction, if there is something you cant do yourself you are gonna need help and there are plenty of players to go around. I think it would be good for the game overall to promote player interaction from the very start so that less people fall into the lfr trap, which is literally just dumbed down boring content. When i was leveling my warlock with a friend i would ask random people to help me with the warlock sumstone to tp to Stormwind for profession and stuff. I was mostly ignored, 1 time literally put on ignore and some declined, the only one who actually went out of his way to click a portal tice was someone who was already max level. My point is that normal raid content has a much higher barier of entry in both gear exp and communication that players who mostly leveled through groupfinder might be turned off by. The ingame voice feature might add to pushing more cumunication but even that still has a LOT of problems to fix and it reduces the anonymity you have in the game.
I have enjoyed this core mmo-part of the game, interacting with other players, since bc and ever since. It gave the game a heart, and more dialog than can ever be written for npcs. I once ran all the way from ironforge to scarlet monostary to get a flyghtpoint for the dungeon. It was tedious, it was scary, it was inefficient but it was fun. The game didnt tell me how to have fun back then, i really enjoyed that freedom and I feel new players get streamlined by blizzard way too much.
choice will never work, because its human nature to take the path of least resistance.

On level 34 I get 12,5k exp and need less exp to level up than on 35 when I get for this same quest only 11,5k exp.
You think this is funny?

And how do you know that? Unless you are in the head of everybody playing the game, you can't make dumb generalization like that bucko!

that's what i said, we need an increase in terms of exp rewards
