Levelling just with mining and herbalism (and maybe archeo)

Someone did that? Im curious if its doable without losing my mind.

It’s possible and some have done it, not sure if they did it from level 1 or not but have done huge chunks of the game through other activities.

The pandaren who never leaves the starter isle springs to mind. He has only been able to gather to level after presumably doing the initial quests and caps every expansion. He is also neutral to the Horde and Alliance, having never chosen a side.

Doubleagent took it to extremes by never leaving the Wandering Isle and remaining neutral.

However, the Pacifist Challenge is pretty much this but without that handicap, but with the handicap of using only grey and white gear, and not dying

I have read of more people doing Pacifist rules, but carrying on after a death. Or people allowing themselves any gear, but not killing anything.

honestly, a few levels above the 50 of this character I did it by collecting herbs and taking advantage of the rested bonus, but maybe it is better to say this on the ‘Make a dark confession’ thread …

probably with my pally ill try the same. i have the vomit just to go in bastion

oops, right in that area in the southwestern part (the initial one to be clear) :grimacing:

Yeah, I’m bored too. I barely log in nowadays, except to do missions and a very few farms. I wish I had more farms to do.

You can certainly level quite easily by pet battling. Discodoggy and a few others have levelled entirely by PvP pet battling, which is a lot longer (I DON’T recommend trying levelling by PvP pet battles). Disco has videos of himself as a Worgen in Gilneas at 100, as it was, before he moved his character out. But regular slaughter of wild pets is actually a decently efficient way to level. Very boring, but almost as fast as questing.

You’d be surprised how quickly you can level with archaeology. I mean, it’s not fast compared to conventional methods, but its a lot faster then you expect.
If you haven’t collected the rare finds, it’s a neat thing to do.

Pandaria archeology achievements are something that I try again from time to time, but they are so many that every time I lose all hope

I once leveled a Paladin from 50 to 60 just with archeology because I was sick of the Shadowlands and I really liked it. And the cherry on top was that I got my fossilized raptor :3
An important thing about leveling with archeology is that the rested Exp works for that too so if you do it while rested, you only need half the time!

Sounds like a great activity for when you’re bored but want to be more bored.

nah. the coins achie in dalaran int his way is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse

I did that from level 50-60, and from 110-120 in the last expansion. I did it on my druid, mostly because I wanted to earn some more gold and not really because I wanted to level that druid.

how much time did it take?

Those are pretty harsh. I was going to suggest some pet battles, but that breaches rule 10. I’ve levelled a bunch of chars from 50 to 60 via them.

Some rules seem too harsh, why no food buffs?

These other challenges are derived from Ironman, which forbids almost anything that can help. and they tend to inherit the same restrictions.

People do complete characters as Pacifist or in some other specialised way, but without the hair-shirt rules.

There is a forum regular I haven’t seen for a while, who posts on various characters - Isdy, Professor Patpending - who regularly levels with archy and/or pets, and/or without ever mounting, and so on.

I was unaware of details of these challenges, so thanks for the link. :+1:

There do seem to be a lot of rules. Personally, would prefer (with the pacifist one) a points system which gradually gets worse per death, so it doesn’t become an instant case of binning a char after one death and allows the odd risk or interesting encounter.

I wonder if white and grey items becoming trans-moggable as greens items would affect this ?

Unless the weapon / clothing items are made cosmetic but retain low stats when equipped so any challenges/events, fun, silly or otherwise can continue. :newspaper_roll: :roll_of_toilet_paper: :running_woman: :person_cartwheeling:

yes.

check out Doubleagent.
that guy created his pandaren in mop, since then he never picked a faction but he reached max level of every expansion.

he is a legend.
this is his latest run: shadowlands.
