Lewd names shouldn't exist within world of Warcraft for kids

No, I have not claimed that.

Said the one accusing me for for something I haven’t done…

What swearing?

You can word it towards a Silly name Instead of stupid. It makes me feel attacked when you state stupid. It also makes you sound angry.

It’s not worth it. Don’t do anything. Just forget about it, man.

English is not my native language, but still my understanding is that silly and stupid aren’t synonyms. In this case the name of the character is a tad more severe than what fits as silly, so stupid makes a more fitting description.

That sounds more like a you-problem.

Indeed. I’m muting this thread.

Well, my problem Is stated up above and you trying to glorify, these Lewd names In the game. Its rather weak.

if its outright lewd then yes, it has no place in wow but im a bit torn on play on words which are quite heavily altered.

imo blizzard doesnt even try anymore nowadays, at least it seems that way. on my old realm (not rp realm though) there was this one guy which had an extreme rude name. not even lewd anymore, a downright perverted name. my boyfriend reported him every time he saw him yet after weeks he was still around.

Not much we can do other then report and move on. Not much happens though, i’ve even reported old guildies in the past that had inappropriate names and nothing happened so…

It’s almost as if it seems to take a certain number of reports to trigger any action. I don’t know that for a fact, that’s just my observation.

So if someone gets mass flagged as having an inappropriate name they seem to get actioned quickly. Where as someone who is just flagged so now and then seems to get away with it. It shouldn’t work that way IMO, every report should be looked into by a human being.

Personally as a parent, if the words “Booty Slapper” are too offensive, lewd, or vulgar for your 12 year old child to hear, or you are too uncomfortable at that age range to explain both slang, people’s freedom of choice, and ranges of humour.

Then letting your child play an online MMORPG rated 12 is the issue, as they are clearly not mature enough to differentiate between reality and fantasy, also I would say a child so naive would be at real risk of predators. As a parent that would be my foremost concern, who could now access them through chat/guild/discord and what they may be discussing.

Not to mention, the violence and lets face it quite disturbing visuals and storylines, especially if a mild term such as “booty slapper” is deemed on the far end of the spectrum of offensive and inappropriate content for a 12 year old to see.

However, you are the parent, you choose to do so, in your own way. Yet, I disagree that just because you think something is wrong, it is automatically, exclusively wrong to everyone universally. Yes, clearly you have a problem with this, and if Blizzard don’t respond to your complaints then you have the choice everyone has. Make the parental choice, and take your child away from the damaging arena you cannot control.

Personally I have seen far more offensive, lewd, inappropriate content in trade chat and cross city chat that as a parent if I was allowing my child of 12 to play this game, it would be under the proviso where I deemed them mature enough to discuss with me anything troubling they may see privately or publicly and that I trusted them already on the internet and social media and the many pitfalls and dangers inherent.

For myself, the term “Booty Slapper” wouldn’t even be a concern, I do occasionally look at Reddit and Facebook I am aware that the standards of humour leave much to be desired.

it’s almost as if characters in a videogame, and actual people in real life were two different things.

“You flagged this as trolling”.
I hope you are trolling, because if you are actually serious, I pitty the ppl around you. IF you are concerned about your child to such ridiculous degree, you shouldnt let it access internet at first place.

People breaking the rules get reported regardless of who saw them break them. Their age isn’t really relevant.

What the ?

The game is for teenagers and up, not children. A teenager understands what a booty is - that is part of what it means to become a teenager. Though we consider them immature, their bodies are in the process of changing that, and fast.

World of Warcraft has always been a somewhat sexualised game anyway, though it doesn’t feature actual sex. A teenager is precisely at the age where this state of affairs is not only normal, but expected. Children are not.

In conclusion, I do not want to see names like this on RP realms as people would not call themselves this and Warcraft’s fantasy races wouldn’t, either. But I do not think that enforcing rules to protect children well outside of the game’s age restrictions is appropriate. That’s your job.

Anyone under the age of 18 is a child in my country. I’m not sure why people are arguing semantics here.

If a name is breaking the rules it can be reported. Then Blizzard can determine if it’s suitable or not.

I’ve reported some horrific names that have been removed. Another example - a friend thinking he was being funny had a slang term for a paedophile and he got a three day ban as well as a name change.

In Europe we have the ESRB to deal with this. You are in Europe, yes?

What you are talking about is not being a child vs being an adult, it’s about the state giving you the right to consent and authorise through contract by assuming you adult.

Incidentally the lowest age allowed for sex in my country is 15.

In response to your edit, pedos can go to hell. References to or support of their deeds is not appropriate to show to anyone. But referring to booty is not that.

No, Karen, it is not.
This is a PEGI12+ with bad language and violence.

Now get off your high horse and parent your children, since you’re the one who popped them out, not blizzard.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

All I see is a bunch of people ignoring that someone wanted to report an inappropriate name and arguing about the terminology of a child.

Under 18 is legally a child, nothing changes that fact, whether the person wanting to report a name is 12 or 84 years old is also wholly irrelevant. Incidentally most EU member states also use 18 as the cut off for when a person becomes and adult and ceases to be a child. Teenagers do not magically cease to be children.

RP realms have additional naming rules. The OP clarified that they are not on an RP realm so that didn’t apply in their case.

I really don’t understand why everyone is jumping on someone seeking to report a name.
