LF people with non-stereotypical ASD

Hey,

first, before someone gets a wrong impression, this is not a troll post. Until I checked out the WoW forums for people with ASD, I wasn’t even aware that autism was used for trolling. Personally I do not mind that people use the word for fun, as a lot of words do not matter to me and I can laugh about many of them (even bad jokes), I don’t take them personally. A partial reason for that is my non-stereotypical autism and of course my personality.

I am looking for open-minded and relaxed people (ideally with non-stereotypical autism) to talk to about meaningful things, and maybe at some point to play the game, on the higher end, together. In case this term (non-stereotypical autism) isn’t known, it is basically about being hyper-empathic and high masking, like I am. People have always been my special interest, which is why I prefer good company over anything. I would be happy to share experiences and thoughts with similar people, because I notice I am rarely able to get a proper conversation going with NTs (talks are often too superficial for me) or with most people with stereotypical autism (I am not able to phrase everything in a way it could be taken literally and people get upset about me, or I want to communicate too much for “their” likings as a lot of people need longer periods alone which I do not at all due to my special interest being people).

In case you are interested, feel free to drop me a message on Discord. Here is my Discord tag:

But are you cute?

As a parent of a boy with ASD, what is non-stereotypical ASD?

Hey Blakout,

here is a great overview:

So basically non-stereotypical autism is a form of high functioning autism? I’m trying to wrap my head around all these terms but in fact I believe no autistic person can be called “stereotypical”.

I’m also a medical professional and did my fair research on autism as I have a personal interest in it.

Again, I mean no offense towards any person with ASD, I love my boy to death, just trying to understand better. I believe it’s a good thing awareness is on the rise and you guys can now form communities and advocate for yourselves.

Being good looking and not neurotypical can be absolutely brutal in dating.

Hope you find some folks

Yes, it is a form of high functioning autism. And the stereotypical is not related to a persons personality. There is the saying: “If you know one person with autism, you know one person.” and I fully agree to that.

In medicine there are guidelines to diagnose people and people with non-stereotypical autism have more difficulties getting a diagnose due to the “stereotypical” picture there is about autism. Hence the split about stereotypical and non-stereotypical.
