It’s both, it creates a feedback loop. But since this is the arena forum I’m just gonna assume people will only read the last comment so I’m gonna quote the comment above yours just to make sure it isn’t overlooked like the last one was:
Bewarê:
smh 2021 and people still can’t see past what’s in front of their face.
The solution isn’t to make it into even more of a solo player game, it’s to make it more socially wholesome. The idea of the group finder for PvP shouldn’t be to always need to go back to the group finder; it should be to only need it until you find a team to settle down with.
inb4 people talk about “I can only play half an hour once every 6 months because IRL blablabla” you still don’t lose the ability to organize with people you’re familiar with to set aside a time in advance to play together. Even though you can only play once in a blue moon.
Once you have set aside time in advance to play together, it removes the need to spend time in the group finder or whatever entirely, and you can spend that little tiny amount of time simply queuing for arenas. Problem solved.
Simply put, the game needs to provide reasons for people to want to play together through the rough times and the good times. The goal should be to only need to use the group finder ONCE and then play together regularly with the same people. It leads to a more enjoyable time spent in the game overall as well.
It isn’t impossible, Classic has seen much more social interaction than retail has seen since Cataclysm. People simply move like sheep in reaction to the design.
Just gonna sneak this in here, since people are complaining about it again…
Ok, so I posted this in another thread just now, but the post was a bit long so I’ll make it into its own thread to hopefully get more people to read it: Alright, so a fundamental issue in the group f***er is that people are generally distrustful of random strangers there, and want to increase their own rating but not lose it. If people don’t want to bring back arena teams which also used to serve as the social glue for people to work together, there is another way to do it. This way is a bi…
Then there’s also
that thread, the OP made some decent suggestions as well there.
