LFG - Dungeons linked to Expansion you Level In

Hello there,

Being a returning player (I havn’t played since WoD) I’ve been impressed by the new leveling system with the inclusion of Chromie’s timewalking and having the option to level from 1-50 via any of the games previous expansions.

That said, I have one criticism and I can’t quite understand why this was never implemented.

Why are the dungeons from the expansion you’re leveling through not tied to the LFG. Why are we just given the options of BfA?

This would allow Blizzard to showcase all their previous dungeon content as it was meant to be played, without having to wait for the Timewalking events, plus it ties in with the lore/quests of the expansions you are leveling through.

What challenges do you face as developers to not be able to do this? Surely as there exists a function where the expansions are chosen and tied to your character as you level this same concept could be attached to the LFG tool?

Going back to these dungeons at lvl50+ just feels a bit “meh” as you don’t expierience the current content as it was as enemies/bosses are one-shotted and you cannot enjoy the mechanics (yes - I know we have the timewalkingevent) but regardless of that, as a creator do you not want to show off all your previous content/mechanics as it should be enjoyed.

You’ve done it for the leveling expierience, so why not just bolt on the dungeons as well?

oh wait, you need to do BFA 1st before you can do any of the others

Yes indeed, thats my point.

You go back to them at lvl50+, when you’ve outleveled them.

My ask is, if I choose Burning Crusade as the content I level through from 1-50, why can’t the BC dungeons be in my LFG tool and not the BFA ones.

They are supposed to be. If u are in TBC chromie time you should also have the tbc dungeons in the LFD afaik.

Hmm, what on earth am I doing wrong then.

I’ve leveled a few characters now, some on Legion, some on BC, WotlK and only the BfA dungeons show.

Am I losing my marbles?

Weird, i will log some of my chars to check cause i generally dont do dungeons while leveling, but u are supposed to get dungeons from the timeline u have chosen at chromie.

This includes all content prior to BfA, so Legion, WoD, Cata, MoP and the rest?

Or is it specific to certain expansions?

I’m leveling on Legion (level 10) and I got legion dungeons.

Uh oh, I’ve figured out the issue.

Myself and those I know, when chooisng Legio nto lvl, we did so via the Command Board. NOT via Chromie.

This is why we couldn’t use the LFG tool for these dungeons!

U can choose from all expansions at chromie, so u can level through mop and get mop dungeons, if you choose wod you get wod dungeons, if u choose cata u get the vanille and cata dungeons and so on. Did u choose a timeline from chromie?

Just logged a few of my alts and some do have dungeons from their chosen timeline in the LFD, while others have… weird options :stuck_out_tongue: Like my hunter which i level in legion for some reason have wotlk dungeons? I think i started with LK leveling on her but then swapped to legion. But LFD is stuck at LK. My lock i have only been in wod and she has wod dungeons. My rogue is in legion but has bfa dungeons (think i started in bfa with her). My mage has been in mop and she has mop dungeons.

For anyone reading this, if you want to do content prior to BFA ensure you use Chromie.

Not the Command Board, even if that shows the older expansions.
