voice chat used to be very important. but now we have good addons and enough youtube tutorials to watch at 2x speed. you can even raid without it now, because it has become much easier.
so what should you do in voice now? annoy others with mindless blah-blah? or should you announce timers from addons like bigwigs for super epic fail noobs?
and what is there to talk about when tank links his route with notes in the chat?
p.s.: didn’t know that there are even boosts for 22+. that’s blatant and pointless… and the damage is missing for timed?
It is of course a possibility. My whole argument is that I don’t believe most people are inately stupid. The rshaman in NL is a well known thing, even in the PuG world. I would rather believe he is not picking healers because he is looking for a shaman as his base logic, than him not picking the other healers because his brain doesn’t compute they are healers or other ‘dumb’ reasons. It simply is more probable than the “he is dumb/stupid” theory line from my point of view on human behavior.
I do of course concede there is a chance that he is behaving unlogicaly, I just really doubt it.
Sadly in my own experience, most sub 20 PuG DPS and does not use their dispells or utility, most doesn’t even bring them at all. While arguably we could say the key could be easily done with the new information on the group setup, we also could spin it around to “they are stupid” argument. He is simply reducing the chance of failure by bringing a shaman that can cower your other lads stupidity as needed. Again, it is risk management and based on logic, not stupidity - missplaced, flawed or missinformed, sure, yet not stupidity.
You did the correct thing by leaving the group, as you felt it was a waste of your time. Yet, I find it tasteless to attack and try to mock someone for just trying to do due diligence in the PuG world. My whole point is not if it was the correct choice to not bring the other healers classes, my argument is that it was not a choice based in stupidity.
My bit in this discussion is that in the PuG world, do not think you are above the other actors trying to push score/key levels. Basically, you are on the same playing field and play by the same rules - the only one holding you back is yourself. If you are on a knowledge and skill level above the others you currently play with, it is up to you yourself to push onwards and upwards. You do not blame others ignorance, lack of experience or misinformed opinions for your own struggles. Belittling others to boost your own ego does nothing but cause a negative feedback loop in M+, that causes avoidable toxicity and lack of self-improvement.
Yeah…
At least as far as M+ is concerned, it is relatively easy to be the group host. It is just a dungeon with extra nonsense added on top of it.
In raids you have to also understand the required number of dps per healer and maybe how to tell if someone is or is not doing their role right.
LFG is miserable because you need too much utility to complete some keys at a certain level. If affixes would at least not needing a specific utility (MD, CC, dispel) it would increase the amount of possible composition which would lead to less waiting time.
That works fine up to +16, and from +16-20 you will face a lot of annoying issues, and groups will fill very slow. Btw, I also cleared normal the first time by making my own group in may. I think raiding and raid pugs are fine. I enjoy raiding way more than M+. Raiding is also way more epic, while M+ only feels mysterious and epic the first 2 times you do a dungeon, and as you get higher it becomes a headache in pugs. You will see, but I don’t wish you to see my issue. I wish you good luck instead, and hopefully you will just chill after KSM or find a guild to push KSH.
