This is true but the difficulty that doesn’t serve any purpose right now is normal. This is the one that should be removed.
I can not speak for EP, since I have only done the last wing once. But I never encountered this. Isn’t this problem exaggerated? The worst I had is I was the only healer at KJ, and that was not doable. But on the amount of lfr I have done I consider this an exception. (also 1 shotted that last wing EP)
Not an exaggeration, mate.
I get these kind of players everytime I did my weekly LFR to gear up my alts.
This especially started happening during the Azshara LFR. And because the raid requires actual tactics in LFR, people dont listen and we often wipe.
(No idea why it aint showing me replying to whom for some reason in the forums)
Then LFR OBVIOUSLY isn’t aimed at you. And thankfully there’s 3 other difficulties you can pick that WILL suit your wants/needs.
I AM in favor of having one mode of raiding available where you can just tank-n-spank stuff and just see the raid, its atmosphere and experience the story.
That’s understandable actually. I have probably done more LFR than normal when I was raiding. Perhaps if they were to ever go back to 2 difficulties, they could mix LFR and normal together and then heroic and mythic together (in terms of difficulty). I don’t know what would be best to be honest.
Why would they have to learn mechanics for lfr. Why do you make that connection. If lfr is too hard nobody would do it. The audience for lfr is thpse that want to experience content with their own character in a visceral way, but don’t really seek a challenge in doing that. Maybe those people really just want to look around and absorb the environment.
Here’s a hot take. I think lfr should be even easier than it is right now and it should not reward any loot at all. Instead it should reward tokens that you can trade in for cosmetics and pet battling stuff.
I personally don’t do lfr but I see it’s purpose in the game right now.
Not THAT.
Best IMO would be:
A storymode difficulty. A raid you can queue up for or just do solo (with NPCs). This would only reward actual gear the very first time you finish the raid. After that you’d be able to unlock transmog and such, but you won’t actually get any more gear.
Normal difficulty (with this being a slight increase in difficulty from what it is now).
Mythic difficulty.
Nothing should be removed. You will always take away content from players. They maybe play different than you.
I am a normal->heroic raider myself.
Removing one of the 2 is removing my personal progression. Removing mythic is removing the hardest part of the game. Removing LFR is removing players who want to see and enjoy the content but don’t want to get stuck in progressing and stressed environments.
4 difficulties all serve their purpose
Yes and no.
LFR currently doesn’t serve its purpose WELL.
yes too hard when low geared afk bots and stack buff wipe only 5%…
must be 10-15% each wipe buff
Well thing is this would increase queue times as you would have 2 tanks for 8 players instead of 23. Queues would ao long that it would be far easyer to join 10man normal which btw alredy is. Like people complain not having time but are fine with wiping for 2 hours in lfr + queue time like wtf?
Currently running 10man normal is much faster than joining lfr queue and hope you wont wipe for another 2-3 hours and thats for 1 wing. LFR can easly consume 2x-3x times more time than normal or heroic mod.
a guild only raids certain times, lfr is anytime.
thats what means i dont have time
You can join pugs anytime you want.
on horde only i did
alliance no pugs
dead
it should not reward any loot at all
Twitter would drown in the blood of the disgusted. Wait till Shadowlands won’t have Titanforging and LFR loot won’t be able to self-upgrade. Even that will trigger people
WoW gear is obsessed with ilvl so sadly they won’t differentiate LFR from other modes nor modes between each other. It’s not a new idea yet nothing happened with it.

Well, if that new tower will provide upgrades (and I heard multiple mentions of a new type of weekly chest that looks at everything you did that week), it should be fine.
I don’t want to have to raid (any difficulty) to get upgrades. That’s not the game I enjoy playing (you know; the game from 15 years ago).
LFR nor world quests aren’t there to provide upgrades, even with titanforging. Those give base gear to get you started for end game content or to be just gear for doing more world quests and LFR runs.
Well, if that new tower will provide upgrades
From what they told the ever-lasting dungeon will drop legendary crafting materials, there were no mentions of normal gear (and if it will the solo part won’t drop anything high anyway).

Existing M+ and PvP weekly boxes will allow you to choose one item from list. They may add such choice to dailies but we will have to see.

Do more and more challenging content. You can get mythic raid or higher gear via M+ as well as PvP. You can’t get upgrades from non-endgame content. If you are lucky and Blizzard screws things up things like catchup gear becomes BiS and you can just casually get it like the benthic gear to many classes turned out better than mythic raid gear of higher ilvl. Or play RNG roulette like the tokens on broken shore in Legion that could give titanforged Unstable Arcanocrystal and alike.
That’s not the game I enjoy playing (you know; the game from 15 years ago).
Modern WoW has large ilvl inflation and everything is normalized so every major patch all you gear and progress goes to trash. I like how Vanilla/Classic does it. Aside of much smaller ilvl inflation part of the loot is just terrible so even less occasions to creep ilvl. Then there are catchup raids that instead of LFR are just 20-man dungeons, often PUGable and drop good catchup gear, some very good so core raiders make PUGs and carry “catchupers” along the way. Plus the turn ins for gear in Cenarion Circle or Argent Dawn, extra loot added to dungeons, some crafted high tier gear etc. And you could farm exalted with Timbermaw, get their trinket and flex at everyone instead of “modern” pointless world quests that give no feel of accomplishment (unless you really don’t want turtles to make it to the water).
Might increase queue times, but might also have the opposite effect. With easier to manage, more mechanically centric raids that offer fun and varied gameplay (so the exact opposite of what we have today lol), I think more people would queue.
Haha I haven’t even touched LFR since I started playing. The bosses are allready incredibly easy on normal, can’t imagine how little of effort you have to put in to actively wipe on LFR bosses. I allways imagined them to be training dummys more or less with mechanics that you can basically ignore. Maybe it’s changed though.
