When I say “Clementine Ford”, it should be known who I’m referring to.
The thing that then bothers me - is that if someone opens a thread with an “I;m LGTQ+………etc and looking for the same people” then is accepted as being OK. If someone else opens with “I;m straight……and looking for the same people” then it’s considered homophobic. Double standards.
Except you did, Leia was talking about man hating feminists who are sexist, and you said
Implying that Leia is a male who gets treated the same way. Always so hard for you to admit youre wrong. Thats a nasty habit you got there.
Because one is the majority the other is the (still oppressed in some countries) minority.
And if that happens i’m gonna say everything i said here, don’t assume the worst of people, even if it’s usually a safer bet not everyone is like this, as long as people are respectful and not discriminating go ahead.
Incorrect.
I meant: ‘‘No so cool when the guy is treated the same way back? How unfortunate.’’
I intentionally never said ‘‘you’’ or said ‘‘you are a male’’.
So it’s OK to “discriminate” if your the minority group then?
Well there you have it. A simple case of miscommunication.
Now pizza and make up.
And yet you asked it specifically to Leia if it was cool being treated the same way.
Except homosexuals are a minority while straight people are the vast majority so makes very little sense and for that reason raises red flags.
And lets be honest there is a very dark history for people being homosexuals so its not that weird that they might want a space where they can be open about it.
No hard feelings though, Leíá, I just wish I was clear enough that they’re not the same thing.
If we’re talking about countries, then yes, oppression is still a very real thing in some countries.
In Third World countries, being gay is a criminal offence, but it’s worse for women in general. I personally, have donated money and helped with other things to try and see the safety of Princess Latifa of Dubai - I pray everyday she will escape
It’s not okay to discriminate anyone, unless they are harming somebody.
So in your example, if they said they’re not accepting gay people or if it said “straight only” then yes.
This is not the case here because the community is for gay people and straight people who have no issues with gay people.
That’s not the point im making.
So that means straight people can join too? I can’t be bothered to read all 175 posts to find out.
yeah they can
Oh that’s fine, but something must be done, because it’s idiots like Clementine, that have poisoned the feminist movement and is the reason why I don’t stand with the current movement in that regard.
Pizza?
Yep they can. The “allies” part in the title refers to “allies of the gay community”. It’s a rather specific phrase used to refer to straight people who are fine with gay people or who are supporting gay people.
Count on me for pizza
What is your point? That you cant say you’re straight? Never been attacked or called a homophobe for declaring myself straight, or that you cant make a straight only community? You can but as i pointed out there are reasons why that raises red flags with a lot people.
Its kinda like making a group called “The proud white boys.” It might be the nicest least racist group in the world but you would have your doubts right?
