I really wanna play my dk and ret right now especially with 10.0.7 coming up but as soon as I realize I need ~100 16+ dungeons to get caught up I don’t log in.
I do think the gearing in Retail for PvE is awful and it encourages timegated gearing with so much focus on the vault (Ion has even admitted this is a current problem in an interview).
Back in Legion we had titanforging and 3-chesting which meant if you felt like playing something you could gear quickly over a weekend.
Sounds like complaint from a billionaire who cant afford his 10th island in the bahamas.
I am LFR player. I do not go to mythic dungeons, not even 0, I am bottom feeder of scum and even I have +385 on my 3 toons I play.
The pace you get gear is good, there is so many ways to get gear easily and fast that it does not feel gated, it feels fun and rewarding when I have proper way to aim towards gear I want and not hope on RNGods for maybe getting loot
I am going to give Max the benefit of the doubt. A charitable interpretation of his tweet would be that he is trying to speak on behalf of the playerbase.
That being said… If I were not to make such an interpretation of the tweet… could he not just… get carried in Mythic raid for one week and get all the gear handed to him with the new pseudo master-looter system?
Yes. he has way better options than farming 100 +16’s. He has no right to complain. On his level he can just do 20’s and upgrade all the stuff to 415 easy, in combination with some mythic raid farms.
And yes, he is talking about 0.1% level stuff. We normal players who are even ahead of the majority has 0 418 items on our mains. Max is talking nonsense about an alt.
I don’t really have a problem with the better item coming from the Weekly vault each week. That is fine.
But I have been playing and gearing up my Monk this weekend. I have run countless keys, and I have gotten 5 pieces of loot so far. And I felt lucky. Someone I played all these keys with last night only got 2 pieces.
It just feels horrible putting all this time into playing and not getting anything out of it.
They just need to increase the amount of drops per dungeon/raid boss and make the game feel rewarding again.
As much as I hate the vault and playing the lottory each week I’m not a fan of people thinking they should get gear just for logging in either. Not that that is what he’s saying but at the level he plays at it should take a lot of time to catch up when making a new character.
They could cut the crap with all the roadblocks holding people back though
I kinda disagree with you, but it also kinda depends on how you read Max’ post.
I read it as farming the concentrated primal infusions, regardless of our opinions, the ability yo craft 5+ 418 items is huge.
But the way the current system is built is that on your main, you’re showered in them, and you have nothing to use them for.
While your alt has a massive grind in front of it that on your main you could spread over 2 weeks for 1 infusion without “falling behind”
It absolutely does feel terrible, and is not very alt friendly…
So the way i read his post, make Concentrated Primal infusions account bound, or give the ability to buy 1 BoA for 2 or 3 BoP infusions… that way they have some “use” on your main.
Edit:
If anything, i do think Max’ point is mostly for the more casual players.
In BFA or SL, it was really easy to keep up with alts for the most part, you got your mates to carry you in a 15 every week without issues, and vault and drops would carry you.
Now the max loot is from 20s, way harder to carry people in, but, you have the crafting system to help make up for that. But as i said above… it’s a massive farm ones you’re behind… 50 16+ dungeons for 5 concentrated primal infusions.
I hear people talking about them but in the meantime i know nobody who can create them. So we just get our gear from M+ the normal way and that’s it. This topic is really on the elitist part. How is this even an alt-topic when mains are not even able to get those items… or well, probably the mythic raiders on the level of on farm are. I am 403 on my main and this is a topic about 418 for alts It is very difficult to have simpathy for the situation.
it it is totaly rng the loot, that is the biggest problem, someone can get boosted in M+ get 10 items from 10 dungeons, where the next person gets 2 items from 10 dungeons, and this is the same with raids. this meens if you get lucky you can gear up a char in one day, or it takes weeks to do so.
I do not think you should be able to get up to like 410 in a day, becuse that is to fast again, but at same time having it so that you can go weeks without beeing able to gear up is also not right, offcourse that is if extreamly unlucky.
But looking at infusions on how they work for alts would just as much help people doing 11-15 keys, as the same thing is true for crafted 405 items, or is it 402 with the HC primal infusions?
Personally, i have 6 418 crafted items, and i have 6 more infusions ready, but they’re utterly useless, why not allow me to tranfer them to alts?
Why not allow you to transfer your 402/5 infusions to your alts? This is not an elitist problem, its a problem that starts from HC raid and +11 keys imo.
I have no idea how infusions work or even what they are, sorry. I know nobody who can create those items. We just gear by M+. This crafting thing is very complicated. Professions are dead since DF. I have tried it but it is not understandable and it seems an insane grind. It is for the pro’s of the game. Fine by me.
Let them have their OP items account bound. I am not against it. It is just hard to simpathy for it.
The problem is when you have like 10 418 essences laying around on your main and nothing to use them on. A little bit a trading fee would be welcome, heck I’d even give up all 10 just for 3 on my alt.
I’ve seen people complaining in the past, mostly during BFA when I was actively playing with similar issues.
To play their alt(s) they had so much catch up to do. HoA to a certain level, Legendary Cape, essences rank, etc.
The answer other players gave was:
“What is your alt ?
Something to have fun with or:
another main ?”
For me, I like having my Alts on the same level as my main. That’s why I prefer to level all of them at the same time.
It’s slow as hell, however I already leveled one character to max level in the past (several times: Vanilla, TBC, Legion, BFA) and when I’m playing an alt, it’s always the same problems: too much catch up to do and I don’t feel like doing it.
That’s why I quit that idea. It simply doesn’t work.
In his case I think it’s better to just accept that his alt will always be miles behind his main.
