It is a phobia. Most people have 1 or 2 mild phobias. Not at a debilitating level that you need help.
Arachnophobia is very common as is trypophobia. Unless you have it at an extreme level it’s not something that requires treatment.
I honestly would have thought this topic would have brought out more people saying oh they find this or that an trigger in the game, but I guess having seen the reactions from some, it’s not surprising most don’t want to comment.
Just because I personally don’t get the arachnophobia reaction from most WoW in game models does not mean that I don’t have that reaction to recordings of spiders, films featuring spiders or worse case a spider in my home/near me. A friend does get those reactions and no crabs do not trigger the same fear. That would be kabourophobia. You can be unlucky and have a fear of both ofc. No fear is at the exclusion of others. Someone can fear heights and enclosed spaces.
I think the word trigger has been hijacked in modern times to be associated with something bad, instead of it just meaning what it means.
Because you sound like them, Seeing how you got triggered by me using the words phobia and trigger originally
Clearly.
“It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that doctors and psychiatrists arrived at a clearer understanding of mental illnesses such as depression, including its symptoms and potential causes.”
Dude, for the last time.
Stop comparing mild psychological conditions with major mental illnesses that plague society on major scale.
Holy moly, are you out of your mind.
I dont say that phobias are not real.
I simply think you dont have one.
Look, all I’m saying is that unless you have a proper episode, it’s not a phobia, but rather, how did you put it? An ick?
I’m pretty sure everyone here, no exceptions, were they to see a bunch of crap clustered together like that. It is a natural response to be creeped out by it and that is not a phobia. A phobia would be when you have a deep reaction to something like that, like I explained above.
Why I think that?
your description of your phobia is something is giving you the “ick”
you happen to exhadurate and downplay in your arguments.
Along with pretending you’re a victim.
And even if if am entirely wrong and you’re having episodes, panic attacks from glimpsing at content thats been in the game since its launch.
You are a grown adult- you signed for this.
Its a horror inspired game- > HP LOVECRAFT. Google it. The core of this author is literally fear of the unknown, irrational fears, phobias and disgusting tentacly creatures with many eyes made of flesh-puddy, eggs and etc.
yeah it made me shiver, Yeah it made me disgusted and started scratching my hands and head intensely.
Posting in this thread I keep scratching my head and my hands twitching.
And I’m not joking when I say this.
Interestingly enough the fear is optional, not everyone with trypophobia experiences outright fear. The main sensation is strong repulsion or disgust.
Phobia is a tricky word in that sense, the conditions often don’t only include fear, but also strong disgust, and it can manifest as only the latter with more phobias.
I don’t think you mean optional. When it comes to any irrational fear it’s not like you opt in or out of things. It’s just different people experience different reactions with any fear.
Like some with a fear of heights will feel the need to cower down on the surface on the floor, some feel the need to hurl themselves off.
Yeah you are typing but you aren’t listening. I’m not saying Trypophobia isn’t a phobia. I’m saying that unless you have an actual episode that per definition is irrational in it’s response, then it’s not a phobia, just a dislike. To make it very clear, Trypophobia is a phobia, I’m not questioning that. What I am saying is that seeing crap like that makes you uncomfortable, that’s not a phobia, that’s just a natural reaction.
I mean it as fear is a possibility but not a requirement to count as a phobia with certain things. But English isn’t my native language so there is probably a better word for it!
No you aren’t listening, your personal definitions don’t match with what is or isn’t a phobia. And nothing anyone says will change that, which is why it’s futile going around in circles.
Maybe. I was creeped out myself cause it reminded me of something I saw, not gonna describe it since it’s gross, but yeah, it could be. Best way to tell is have someone shove something like that in your face, see the reaction you have. Then you can confirm it.
Its not a spectrum. It is defined medically as an allergic reaction to gluten. In other words, your immune system reacts to it and you get inflammation somewhere inside your body.
That is not “annoying and unpleasent”. Or “my tummy akes”…
What you describe is something EVERYONE experiences. Either with 1 particular food, or occasionally. And the cause could be something else. Like acid reflux for example. And a simple bycarbonate pill fixes that.
Dont dilute diseases. Its wrong to do so, and disrespectful to those that have it.
Total BS. Today we have access to so many types of bread. Buy whole grain bread and do the experiment.
Either way, whatever type of wheat they put in bread, if you eat 1 slice and dont experience anaplylactic shock you dont have Celiac Disease.
Easy. So whatever it is that they claim to put in the bread, its causing something else. And its definitely not gluten that is for sure.
But it might be something else. If you dont get properly diagnosed then you will have a miserable life.
It dosent have to be gluten. It could be (for example) lack of exercise. Or diet, as in, lack of certain vitamins and minerals.
