Lockpicking through professions

Hi all.

As far as I’m aware inscription (Writ of Grave Robbing) or Blacksmithing (Laestrite Skeleton Key) are the only options to be able open lockboxes other than leveling a Rogue (which I don’t want to do)

A simple question, is one more preferable than the other, I want to stick it on an alt and keep it at level 1.

Thank you.

Hey Maldoraan,

Inscription in general has slightly more value due to glyphs always having somewhat of a value, and especially if paired with Herbalism to sell extra herbs.

I’m not sure what your intentions are, but as a little heads up, both items require the profession skill to be used, so they can’t be used on another character that doesn’t have the respective profession.
I might be reading your post wrong, but a level 1 alt can’t learn the SL professions.

If I misread and you mean you want to put it on a lvl 50 alt and keep the profession at level 1, that would work. Just wanted to make sure there’s no disappointments

Thank you Kerrosh, yeah it’s the last part.

I have a 60 Warlock that I never play with Enchanting and Tailoring and as I never play it I thought I would dump Enchanting and use it to unlock the 70+ lock boxes I seem to have accrued.

I honestly couldn’t care less about the other benefits of either, it’s just the unlocking and whether say the writ is cheaper to make than the key for example.

Thanks again.

Mechagnomes have an inbuilt lockpicking ability.
