Log "nerf" not affecting parsing?

Hi all,

Was just thinking and looking up a bit how the logs used for parsing is created and it states that the logs written to text file when enabled (the ones used for parsing) is reading the events in the combat log and writing them to file. This would mean that the parsing is in fact affected by the decrease in range for combat logs.

So the question is how does it work? Is there a different API for the text-logs than what is available for addons such as SPY, Detail, Recount etc.? Or does the API only provide events from players within 50y but still log everything?, which would be pretty stupid from a performance persective.
