Why cant we have it back in atleast dungeons?
I farmed princess yday 9 times and finally got the ring.
But its kinda annoying that each time you reset dungeon you have to drown yourself. If you dont want to add loggout skip atleast put a portal back to entrance in the end. Or something.
Even though I dont mind log out skips personally its funny to read this you are basically saying āIf you dont want people to abuse a bug at least put in this thing that the bug basically didā
Was put in to combat boosters and wild offering farms. Worked like a charm in SoD so guess they found out it was gona stay
Was never a bug tho.
It is a feature people āabusedā.
It existed to help people that got stuck.
It make sense to put a teleporter in the end tho.
After you kill princess the druid could summon a portal or something like thatāŗļø
That you get teleported by logging out in one spot to another spot is a bug, there is a unstuck feature though but that puts you at your HS location, and yeah I have nothing against ether the use of it or of putting a teleporter at the end of a few dungeons but it was a bug.
logout skips was never a bug or something you abused it was pu intentionaly ingame.
How would logging out in one spot and logging back in being somewhere completely different be intended? And seeing as non of them is in the least telegraphed to the player you cant believe they are intendedā¦
It was coded ingame if you got stuck so you can get out of there by login out.
And yes i know stuck function exists, but im guessing they added this before stuck function.
And then people abused it to farm more efficiently instead of for the intended reason.
Logout skips are by definition an abuse of game mechanics.
Iām not saying I like that they removed them, but itās obvious why they did it.
Thats not why they removed them. They knew they were possible, faster and not intended even back then. The reason they never removed them before is because when like 10% of people are using something like this, it barely matters. Itās unintuitive and annoying yes, but generally people choose to do it and not many.
They removed it when it became meta to do in a group - suddenly people who wanted wild offerings in SOD were forced to engage with unintuitive and immersion breaking gameplay, that looked like bug abuse. Thats significantly less fine and actually has a chance to negatively affect gameplay.
Same time theyāre not going to change it back for non-SOD versions, because why would they? The same reason itās not a big deal before SOD makes it not worth re-implementing either.
If the areas where you could log out skip were intentionally coded there would have been hints to where they were, the one that people might stumble on without intentionally looking for them was the one in Mara the other once I know off were all semi obsucer places and also mostly out in the open world in spots where you couldnt get stuck (and I dont know of many tbh but here are a few, you could warp from entrance to the cave leading into BFD to right outside the instance portal and you could warp from the water going into ST to just where the graveyard is inside ST).
The auto unstuck was introduced 10 days after the game launched so that people wouldnt have to wait for GMs to come and teleport them, the bugs where your x,y,z postion puts you somewhere else in the world if you log out were ofc in the game before that but thinking that unmarked special spots that teleport you from one spot to another were intentional game design is kind of insane to put it lightly.
im not arguing you could abuse it and that people did abuse it.
You are very correct that there were plenty of places outside in the world if you used z axis right or was in water at some places that you got teleported to closest graveyard. or inside dungeon you could get graveyard or entrance.
But it was programmed in the game that if a player is stuck and you loggout you get to graveyard/closest entrance.
But the game is kinda messy coded and dont know always when you are āstuckā so it thinks you are stuck with the z axis higher than xxx or in water places/standing in air what have you.
The intention of the coding would logically be that if you got stuck you could easily get back to a unstuck state.
Why they put it in the first place who knows really tho.
Also alot of sod changes were past over to era servers, im not really sure it was inteded to be a āfixā in era aswell or if they just let that be.
But still kinda annoying in some dungeons that you cant do it anymore beacuse of how low drop rate some items have and how far away you are from entrance to reset the dungeon:P
