I guess some dps players takes it personally when a healer out-dps them while healing.
Oh and those tanks who starts pulling at least 4 packs at a time if they see a healer put a single dot on a mob.
But I like this meta change, that healers can and sometimes must do damage in order for group to time a key, or even make random heroic faster.
As a healer you should, especially since in MoP they gave all healers dps spells and made them free or close to free, always be dpsing if you donât need to heal or move at that moment.
Wasted GCDs are bad gameplay. There is no reason not to dps during downtime.
Iâve had arguments with pugs who tried to tell my disc priest that I should be spamming Shadowmend and not âtrying to dpsâ -_-
The only thing I donât like about having an expectation on healers to dps is that weâre badly balanced. Some do a lot more than others, and the low dps ones donât necessarily make up for it with healing power or utility.
was it +2 mythic?
DPS should outheal healers aswell, sometime, imo.
Or DPS should outtank tank aswell, someti⌠Oh waitâŚ
did you out dps a fury warrior?! even a hunter pet can out dps thatâŚ
One side of the story, if the tank or dps have to slam big defensive and heal CD in order for the healer to get a power trip it is a lot worse.
Blood DK will do their best to draw level on healing
Personally to me, if you queued as a Healer, then your main job is to Heal, now, there is NO issue not to DPS once in a while, just be mindful that you queued as a Healer and the players that are with you expect you to heal them, as as people who queued for DPS are also expected to DPS and Tanks are expected to tank.
Now, Iâm not saying that itâs bad to derive yourself from the roll you originally queued as, all Iâm saying is, be mindful with what you queued as. The moment you lack mana, energy, chi, whatever to do what you queued for and should the party wipe, itâs not necessarily the DPSâs or the Tanks fault, itâll land on the Healers that wasted their abilities to deal damage.
A blood DK can heal, but thats because they have an ability that doesnât exactly waste Mana or that it doesnât require them casting, but yes hit something to recover, followed by other Instant-abilities that grant them health. Thats their nature. As for Paladins and Druids, they still need to cast a bit to heal or do magical damage.
At some point on my paladin Iâm just facepalming, when I have to heal myself more than healer - just because healer is busy doing lava bursts.
Yes I do most healing on all M+ runs. ÂŻ\(ă)/ÂŻ
I learned to dps as a healer thanks to ffxiv. I then thought Oooo disc priest does dps ^,.^ and that´s my story /nod
any healer that does not dps, as well as healing, should get the boot.

Man I love the ffxiv healing memes
Usually newer players have the idea that healers only do healing: just like dps only do dps and tanks just do tanking (both of which also arenât entirely true). I feel like any experienced player who has played a healer or even has a basic understanding of the role knows that youâre supposed to dps during downtime.
I stopped playing healer just to escape the DPS requirement that is somehow put on them by âthe metaâ. I think itâs fine to DPS in between (if nothing else is to do) but I also do love it when I am simply !busy! healing without DPSing.
Ofc the content must not be outgeared or something like that for this to be the case.
A hybrid function is imho totally fine but should mean the character is kinda supporter and mediocre in both roles, but still helpful.
Up to today I dream of a class like the chanter in Aion, which was a mediocre DPS/Heal while bringing really powerful buffs to the group which made them totally desirable.
Btw as far as I remember healers were given âokayishâ DPS so they could do solo content like world quests, deep down I still want to believe it was never the designers intention to make healers DPS in group. (At best just to fill gaps of low incoming DMG).
If there was a class that could heal and buff players, that would be pretty cool⌠Bard comes to mind.
Does WoW lore have a Bard? they are giving players dps buff n stuff and have to keep on top of the buffing as well as healing. no dps required.
Specs would be; Shadow Bard, Light Bard.
I suspect this
I often see pug healers dps when the entire team is slowly dying & i have to pop surv instincts & heal
You shouldnât be playing with people who say dumb stuff like this. They clearly donât know how the game works.
I try to put some damage inbetween healing aswell. Usually (especially on my holy priest) I have so many healing skills that I have no place to put my damage skills cept for the additional action bar which makes me have to mouse click themâŚ
Its not really new. Good healers snuck in dps whenever they could. Doing random heroics you basicly play a dps spsc who can also heal tho, so weird examppe
Ofc healing needs to take priority. But if everyones full, you have the mana and there nothing painul about to happen then absolutely dps.
If you are out dpsing the dps, then either they are trash or youâre likely dpsing too much. Or massive ilvl difference
