Looking for an RP guild

Hello Argent Dawn! Hope that anyone who reads this is having a pleasant Wednesday.

Before getting to the point of this post, I’d like to do a short introduction about myself. I’m an old WoW player who moved to Argent Dawn during Legion. The exact reasons for why I switched servers are now a bit foggy but it was the right decision that I haven’t regretted. The one thing I do regret is never putting enough effort into trying to roleplay a character myself. There were a few attempts here and there of course. I’ve joined a few groups but chickened out after a day or two, thinking that my rp skills weren’t up to standard and left without making an explanation. I’m hoping to fix this now.

Lately I’ve had a lot of fun doing casual walk up rp with my low level mechagnome alt. Just hanging around Stormwind, fixing street lamps and initiating RP with passersby by asking them to give a hand with the lamp repairs or warning them about potential explosions.

Which brings me to the main part of this post. I feel that I’m ready to give guilds a proper try. My main worry is that I wouldn’t be able to attend any organized events due to work and other real life obligations. These things would leave me absent for a few weeks at times which isn’t hard to explain IC but might be a problem with my player attendance. So in short, I’m hoping to find an RP guild who wouldn’t mind my absence at times. Theme wise I’m open to a lot of things. Don’t mind playing Alliance or Horde, though most of my characters are alliance. I also still have a lvl70 boost in case I’d need to make a new character. The only thing I feel like staying away from is playing races with thick accents like dwarves or trolls. That’s a bit beyond my skills as a non-native English speaker.

Welcome back!

Don’t worry about too much about being forced to attend events.
From what I hear/know, almost all guilds are pretty chill when it comes to their events.
You attend what you can, and find out IC what you couldn’t attend later on.

I’ve got members myself that constantly disappear for a few days/week because of IRL situations, interest shifting or being on vacation. That’s just a normal part of life.

And don’t stress about the non-native English speaker part.
Most of us aren’t native speakers :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Thanks for sharing that bit of information. Definitely puts me more at ease about attendance. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi there Amark!

You sound like someone we may enjoy having in our small, but committed, community.

We would have NO problems with your work-related absences from the game. My Co-GM and I are available for RP outside of the “normal” event times that most guilds use (8pm server time on Fridays/Saturdays) and we frequently RP outside of those times ourselves, so you would have the chance to contribute towards our plotlines outside of scheduled Campaign Events if you cannot attend those events in person.

We could easily find important activities for your characters to do that will have just as much of an effect on our storylines as the actions people take in our Campaign Events, whether the RP takes place in Discord or in-game, whatever is convenient for you. This would ensure your character makes meaningful contributions towards our plotlines, earning respect and a reputation in our Guild for their actions.

If it helps, we also post brief updates about our ongoing RP Campaign in our Discord server so that all members can keep up to date OOCly on how things are going for the Guild’s latest adventure and feel included in the conversations that we have about our RP. This means people can stay up to date OOCly without needing to log in or take part in an event personally.

We are also happy to accept members who feel they lack confidence or experience in RP and provide a safe, nurturing environment for them to grow with us.

We’d love to talk to you about joining us, if our guild holds any interest for you. I don’t want to leave a wall of text here so please feel free to check us out on Argent Archives here: https://www.argentarchives.org/node/274953
or on our Forum thread here: [N-RP] Moon Haven - Adventure & exploration amongst friends!

You can also whisper me in-game, or my Co-GM Theondrid, if you’d like to speak to us directly.

Whatever the outcome, I hope that you find a home in Azeroth that suits you.

Fae xx

Hi Amark! I hope you’re having a fantastic day yourself! I started playing WoW back in Legion, and Argent Dawn was pretty much my first server I got invested into - with getting involved with Roleplay coming soon after! I dipped in and out of roleplay several times, before getting properly into it last year. I completely understand that fear and apprehension, and like you I have a habit of poofing when a situation gets a touch stressful. It’s important to me you know that our guild prioritises accesibility, and we understand completely sometimes we have to deal with terrible anxiety.

I’m happy you’re having fun with your mechagnome! That’s such a funny concept and I adore the idea of being a silly little technician. It’s a really good way of you bringing more life to Stormwind and I’m sure you’ve made those people days! I have got to start waltzing around Stormwind more to bump into you!!

With attendance, there is never any pressure whatsoever to make it to roleplay - and no good guild ever should! This is for fun, not a second-job, and so real life always comes first - or hell, even if you simply just don’t feel like roleplaying. Your absences are at your discretion entirely. Ontop of that, there’s roleplay happening pretty much daily! So if there was a day you had free and felt like roleplaying, or wanted to rp at an unusual hour, the likelihood is atleast one of us would be up for it if not already rping.

A good majority of our guild are non-native English speakers themselves, with our Guild Leader and our other officer being ESL. Your skill in English is a non-issue to us, and if we ever engaged in rp with people using heavy accents in RP I’d be more than happy to help you along with understanding what they say, though as of right now nobody in the Edict rp’s with a heavy accent. I myself have pretty rough dyslexia, so sometimes I accidentally use a WILDLY creative spelling of a word - and sometimes need to ask people if they can reword things to help me understand what they mean.

The Edict itself is a Vulpera caravan-inspired guild that’s open to both factions and all races, with our main themeing being round the found-family of our guild. We have our main campaign nights on Saturdays, which you of course can come in and out of as you please, where there is an ongoing tailored storyline where our members decisions and actions directly affect the course of the story. Outside of that we also have social roleplay happening nearly daily, where there is a variety of subplots happening that you can engage with at your own pace - a wonderful alternative if you can’t make any of the main campaign. These subplots are similarly tailored to players, with regular roleplay being able to be randomly turned into a DM’d event!

Outside of those, we have shop nights on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the Solstice Bazaar. There we sell custom TRP3 Extended items that our members ICly created. It’sa wonderful way of engaging with the community, and I could teach you how TRP3 Extended works whether you join or not, I think it’d be super funny seeing your mecha-gnome use it to possibly give out things like spare batteries to other players!

Hello! Another officer of Meridian Edict here, who has joined Argent Dawn because I was bored from the game and wanted to try out roleplay and see if that returns my interest to the game (still trying that out, as you can see)

That looks like a fun character! I rarely see mechagnomes, I probably met one or two only during all the time I play and would like to meet more!

In general, I’d say that the main thing is to -like- the character you play as! You won’t have fun to play character you don’t like or whose personality you find “challenging” to play as - even if they fit the guild or community you are in perfectly. And it won’t be fun to others to play with you if you don’t have fun (it is often very easy to notice).

I also always happy to help new people to get into roleplay or how to set up a new character/storyline better. If you ever need help, feel free to poke me - doesn’t matter if you end up joining the Edict or not!

Here is our thread where you can learn more about the shop and when it is opened where!

I also thought like that when I have just come to AD. Soon I ended up making a troll barmaid with rather heavy accent and really liked playing as her xD Daerron here, if he is particularly scared or stressed also starts talking with way more simple words and heavier accent (which I describe in /e because I am not sure how to do it by changing word spelling. This is also what you can do, if you don’t want to portray it by changing word spelling)

Either way, hope to see you around!

It was a very nice surprise to see three new replies here. Thanks for that!

I’ll get online this weekend. Maybe I’ll even get a chance to see someone from Moon Haven or Meridian Edict online to chat.

Hi Amark, Faewenne and I, will be online throughout the day tomorrow and most of the weekend, do feel free to send me a message if you wish to talk about the guild (Moon Haven), so I can answer any questions you might have and hopefully provide you with a new guild  Regardless of what happens though I wish you all the best in your search for an rp community and hope to encounter you I.C in the future.

It’d be awesome to see you around! If I’m not RPing, chances are I’m AFK on a rooftop somewhere in Stormwind chatting with guildmates (or getting pumpkin’d by them), you’re more than welcome to drop by and say hi! My whispers are always open too if you spot me on in general.

If you ever wanted to chat over discord, feel free to send LuckyGriffin a friend req!

Likewise! I can’t be often online in WoW but you can add me in battle-net (Kariota#2481) or discord (kariota) if you want to chat!
