Maybe a crazy thought, but why not create lookingforgroup channels for the dungeons you are looking for?
So instead of using /trade or /general, heck even /lookingforgroup as a channel to spam your request to do a dungeon, we establish a routine that you instead join a channel for the particular dungeon. On busy servers, the amount of spam on general and trade as a way to find groups can be insane. And even the lookingforgroup channel consist of all dungeons in all level ranges, so it’s not really a good way to find groups.
If you want to do WC, BFD and SFK, you instead type /join WC, /join BFD, /Join SFK. That way you can keep tabs on the specific dungeons you are interested in without having to filter everything that’s just not important to you.
I don’t know, struck me as a good idea at least, but it would of course only work if people adapt to this way of finding groups to run content with.
I’m able to pick out my interests from world channel just fine, and that channel is spammed like mad.
Make the chat larger, change the font size, get used to reading it.
I mean i played Stormscale - EU during cata and general chat in cities was attrocious, these chats are snails compared to that.
My idea was less about dealing with spam and more towards a more efficient way of finding groups to do dungeons with. I to manage to pick up groups as it is now, and I play on Firemaw. Doesn’t mean my idea isn’t an approach that might save both time and spam.
You’re probably right in theory but in practise you’ll see that over 50% of the players won’t join a different channel for each dungeon, so that would eliminate the purpose of it.
Yeah, like I ended my note with, it would only work if people actually adapted to it. Well, one can always hope Probably not very realistic, but stuck me as a good idea regardless…
I frequently remind my guildies (or players that don’t use the LFG channel at all) that there is a LookingForGroup channel. I don’t know why Blizzard didn’t activate it by default and you have to join. Part of the vanilla experience maybe? Several aren’t aware anyway.
you can narrow down the LFG dungeon spam to the dungeon that you try to go for with the ClassicLFG addon that seems to track all the public channels for people who LFG or LFM for your dungeon and lists their LF comments for you to /w them.
Some guy got ownership of world chat and banned pretty much anyone online at the time. Please use LFG chat and not world chat to find and create groups. Can’t rejoin world chat now lol
Indeed, I think that on private servers this type of behavior would have been punished but since Blizzard do not moderate chats (at all from my understanding as of the automated report system) it will make things like this be impossible to have.
i get where you are coming from but to me it just looks like micromanaging.
i joined the lfg chat and barely anyone posts there compared to all the other chats. even general chat of areas is more used than this one.
i wouldnt mind though if there was a spellcleave channel where all those people can go who wish to spellcleave. this would also solve the problem for the rest who looks for different dungeons.
