Looking to make money with skinning

im about to reach 300 skinning and i’v been told that devilsaur leathers are good money but the problem is that the monsters are elite monsters so i cant kill them alone which mobs can i skin at 300 that will make me money ?

Why exactly can’t you kill them alone? Rogues, mages, warlocks and priests have no problems doing it. I’m sure hunters can aswell.

Devilsaur probably won’t sell that well in P5/6 since they was used to create Devilsaur Armor which was pre bis in P1/2 for some classes. Maybe you’ll still have some success but I wouldn’t count on making much gold with Devilsaur as it’s not really in demand.

You’d be better off going Herbalism as the money nowadays is in consumables which will be used for Naxx.

If you have LW you can make some nice gold from Cured Rugged Hide as many classes need it for their T3 but it has a hefty 3 day CD on it.

  1. You probably want more than 300 to get yellow skin on 60-61 mobs and be able to skin bosses. Sources are UBRS dagger, ZG sword, gloves enchant.
  2. After that you join raids like BWL, ZG or Onyxia and just skin everything. Usually you will be the only skinner, as this prof is out of meta.
Devilsaur is meh, just go check what it costs on your server AH, probably will be 3-5 g.
You get only 1 per devilsaur and they are rare.

You’re well behind the curve for devilsaurs. They’re around 3G now on the realms I’ve checked and mostly don’t even sell that well at that price. Blizzard also reduced the spawn rate on the dino’s back to what it was originally, afaik. I got around 10 in an hour last week when I had no competition (did a run as I was feeling nostalgic and thought I could do a bit of herbing while I was at it, but the bots had other ideas). 30G for an hour of farming isn’t that great, you’d make more spending that hour fishing and that was with no competition, so I got every spawn.

What will make you decent gold at the moment as a skinner is rugged hides, as they are needed for cured rugged hides, which people need for their T3 sets. Easier to farm than devilsaur leather and the price per hide is about the same, maybe even slightly more depending on realm, plus you get some rugged leather to sell too while farming the hides. If you do it in Winterspring, if you have a cache of Mau’ri (or whatever it’s called) on you, you can combine it with farming E’ko’s for even more gold.
