It is just plain the best way to collectively gear up a guild the quickest progress the fastest. People are awarded gear based on performance metrics(DPS/HEALING/ITEMLEVE/PREP etc.), and need of the raid, not on how much imaginary dragon points you have, or the roll of the dice.
Yea it makes sense in good guilds (Like top 50), gets a bit cringe elsewhere
I am fan of Roll or personal loot form retail , only only system that can be consider fari, counting taht Gm isnt an a*shole or that you are plaing S tier meta spec is kinda sad perspective
Any member of the council is biased. If two people have the same priority on a piece of gear, they will give it to the one they are more familiar with. The official reason is because they know the person longer and have more trust that this person will stay part of the raid, than the one they know less about. While its reasonable, its still nepotism.
There are others just funneling themselves ofc. My friend has a warrior as raid lead and because of that warriors have loot prio on everything.
Overall loot council can work, but its definitely biased and not fit for casual guilds.
Depends on the guild.
I prefere LC if it is done right. However some guilds cant handle it and they give loot to their friends and stuff over ppl that actually deserve it. But it usualy sort it self out when ppl leave and join propper guilds.
I like TMB / LC the most. DKP is garbage and just makes everyone screw each other over and upgrades will go to waste.
Rolling is not a longterm solution as some might never get anything at all.
LC works, for longstanding stable rosters, who understand the loot priority and why it is the way it is. Loot Reserve on the other hand gives everyone an equal chance to get something, without having to contest even the rogueās grandmaās dog.
A good loot council is nice, a bad corrupt loot council with favoritism is your worse nightmare.
I rather have roll per run or dkp with bis items in an excel sheet so plate wearers cant claim all loot.
Itās gear so we can kill players faster, just roll it out
I HAVE A SUBJECTIVE OPINION OF A THING THAT HAS BEEN PROVABLY ABUSED AND LEAD TO THE REMOVAL OF MASTER LOOTER DUE TO ABUSE BUT I WILL IGNORE IT AND DEFEND IT AND ITāS UP TO YOU TO CHANGE MY MIND.
The only people i know who defend loot council are also the least popular people in any given wow group. Go figure.
DKP/EPGP uses measurable, transparent metrics to reward players, not classes. in 3 expansion of DKP Iāve had zero whispers of āWhy did he get it? Why not me?ā.
Loot Council is the WoW equivalent of recruiters not including the salary of a job they are recruiting for.
So all the top guilds are the least likable players? Because they all use LC. And for good reason. When done right it is the most fair system in the game. When done bad, it is the worst system in the game.
DKP create hoarding situations where ppl refuse to take upgrades so they have the most points to spend on that one unicum item everyone wants.
How is it more fair than letting people just roll for it.
I think the best system is the one that gave me 9 items last week.
I was in a loot council guild once. It was fine for me because I was top priority to gear as a top performing (in that guild) healer. It sucked for others. Iād never prefer it over GDP or Soft Reserve. I actually think SR is the best, even if GDP is more āfairā. Feels better to be able to say āthese two items are important to meā and then have priority rolls for those select items. I vastly prefer rolling to bidding. My guild is switching to GDP and Iām not excited.
The best way is to share with people how hard running a guild is and thatās why those who chose to help the GM out with specific jobs like recruitment, setting up lot prio, tracking attendance/performance among other things, you get prio!
I hear the same arguments all the time. ātop guildsā have some of the highest player turn-over of all guilds. itās like the guy paying minimum wage at a sales company bragging that their top guy earned SO MUCH MONEY and YOU COULD TOO! Except you never will. Youāll earn the minimum wage and leave because the company is set up to benefit a small number of people at the top.
Guilds also use Loot prio as a way to bribe players to join/leave their current guild (and if you deny this happens youāre lucky to have never seen it, because recruiting enhancement shamans as a non-hardcore guild in pre-nerf tier 5 was the hardest boss of all thanks to this behaviour).
Top end guildsā ācoreā members who play the easiest to recruit classes (think hunters in TBC, DKās/Ret in WOTLK) get preference on loot because itās Optimal. But they also just so happen to be the core members of the guild.
DKP Hoarding is the single most ridiculous concept. Upgrading to BiS for a single slot results is, at most, a few % overall damage increase. Spending 1-2 months of DKP on a single item will hurt your overall DPS more than just taking multiple small upgrades for less DKP and letting someone else push for the BiS. The only people who benefit from that sort of DKP hoarding are PVPāers, who wear almost all PVP gear but need specific PVE items to reach breakpoints for arena.
The only āhoardingā Iāve run into is when long standing guild members eventually reach BiS loot and still keep raiding, even though they donāt need loot. This helps the guild massively for clearing old content fast and gearing up new people. However due to this, we introduced a decay system: Once the final boss is down everyone loses 10% DKP per week. This caps the DKP anyone can gain, and means each week spent āhoardingā results in less and less DKP gained.
Loot Council is only fair when it is measured objectively. And if you want to measure peoples contribution objectively, DKP and EPGP do that with complete transparency. Loot Councilās soul advantage is controlling who the loot goes to.
Yes, you are the type of player nobody would want in their LC guild. You would complain that you as a trial would not have prio on the best items and then quit and make a post like this on the forum.
Haha loot council is the most useless way to do loot, itās just too corrupted.
Fair loot council doesnāt exist.
Yes they do. Most people hating on LC just dont stick around long enough to be relevant to the guild (I:E promoted from trial to raider) to see how it actually works.
But many guilds out there cant handle it, that is true.
At the very least there is no need for it in phase 1
Loot Council works perfectly if you have people that are very familiar with all types of gear. For example, Iāve played caster since 2006. I know a great deal about casters and their BiS, %Upgrade stats, and so on. Another person on the Council is a person that played Melee since Jesus was born, so he knows everything about melees. If we combine our knowledge of the game and distribute loot accordingly the guild will be geared perfectly.
If you have people that have no clue about gear or what kind of dps upgrade stuff has, then the guild is going to struggle. People are going to be left out.
If you have a guild with 5 irl friends in a Council, that might cause problems because they favor eachother. If this is the case, get out.
Been in the same guild since Black Wing Layer.
Iām glad you enjoy scamming trials with your Loot Council system though, Seems to be working well.
