Loot Council is the superior way to do loot in a guild - Change my mind

Need if you need, otherwise greed. It’s a video game, others should never decide what you deserve or not, for they are always biased.

And you are not always adequate. Some players do not know their BiS or wish to screw the team for their personal benefit. We chose EPGP+LC, where LC defines what class can apply for what and minor exeptions and EPGP defines the priority for getting the allowed loot.

Lair or Layer?

We have some small rules regarding ranged weapons and such so we don’t end up giving insane melee weapons to hunters, and the same reversed.

LC don’t make me laugh. Yes running a guild is hard but it’s always the usual suspects who get certain items first and apart from that, the famous legendaries also go to the guild’s management first.

With LC, when only 1 person in the guild’s management dislikes you, you’re on the bottom end of the foodchain but you’re good enough to them to spend all your time and golds on gems/enchants/consumables/repairbills.

I raided in tbc for a while on my shadowpriest, a guild with LC and a priority list. Shadowpriests in that guild were on the bottom end of the foodchain. I raided BT and MH on that priest but she still has a belt from Molten Core (wasn’t planning on spending loads of golds on Belt of Blasting at that time) and by the grace of one warlock i got a cloak that dropped from trash, he basically gave it to me. I got the leftovers that were upgrades but no BiS and the stuff everyone else already had. Even the runs they organized to get me a bit more geared i got overruled in my needs by other classes who didn’t yet have it but needed it (T5 runs)

Currently in a guild where i had to find out the hard way that one of the guild’s management dislikes me with a vengeance (of which i really don’t know why but yeah taste is a thing) and i’ve already seen me being excluded on the first roster with my warlock to Naxx which wasn’t btw an official raid. This guild however uses EPGP. So the usual suspects and those who came in that guild after me were in that raid and i’m already far behind on them on loot (obtained through lootreserve addon) i get to spend EPGP for when the official raids start.

All of my guild experiences have lead me to distrust any guilds because of the experiences, no matter the intentions, all the time been similar with loot since classic.

Obviously. But it’s only good if you have good people managing it and good people who understand that loot is a tool and not the reward and if everyone is putting in the same effort
If you have idiots in the council and loot hos in the guild, it’s a recipe for endless drama and disband.

The most active and skilled players should always be prioritized and geared first. It only makes sense. I’m not one of those players anymore but I really don’t mind. I know I’ll get geared eventually.

Roll MS/OS +1 = that’s a fair loot system.

it’s a game

It takes 25 people to complete the content.

The working guy who gets to Raid a few hours a week and a couple of hours farming is less important than the guy who has more time?

Seems to me the guy with less time is investing more into the game with commitment.

Loot Council is a bad system - but if you choose to run with it and folk still attend then consensus rules.

Wooooooow. Calm down dude. You’re gonna end up really upsetting some people who wanna try hard and think time spent = skill.

The really hilarious thing about this is that for parsing, the biggest contributor to a good parse is a shorter fight duration. If you do 10% more damage than everyone else in your guild that’s great… but you need them to pump otherwise your bloodlust duration vs fight duration gets too low and your parse is lost in the abyss.

Stronger guilds = stronger parsing and faster raids.

Parsing - used to do that - just give the healers & tanks a heart attack and go full nuke, because locks are threat monsters when they parse

I see high parse and just see poor skill and a lack of understanding a simple concept - you can clear all content with a good group chilling out with a few beers.

But - I agree - competitive streaming guilds who see it as a business have a different view

If he contributes less then yes.

Personally, i think Loot list and priority to whoever it’s BIS to is better with rolling the item if 2 or 3 players are on the item and are all really good players.

I’ve noticed in Loot Council guilds there’s usually a bias towards who’s older in the guild no mater if they’re a “pumper” or not.

MS>OS till I die.

what is more and what is less?

The lock who farms shards to ensure banish, summon, soul stone and hearthstones are always available and wastes damage cast time to pimp the caster damage with a curse will parse lower using those abilities than the lock who says I’m here for best parse - because he is providing utility

The Mage who says I’m not decursing anybody because I’m here for Parse or the Mage who removes the debuffs that could wipe the group sacrificing DPS uptime?

You raid as a team - that’s why its a raid and not a solo encounter

And who contributes what is not a very finite thing with logs because of the range of logs. If only 2 or 3 folk from a raid upload or publish then you don’t have a true picture because of range.

its a very skewed philosophy

MS/OS is the only fair system

In my opinion, it matters little what loot system You use. What matters most is who You raid with. If You raid with Your guild, clear the content regularly and the roster is more or less consistent thru ought the phase, everyone will be full/mostly bis by the end of the it. The sheer amount of items dropped will be enough to get You all decked in bis items.

If You raid with PUG’s on the other hand, You’ll have a hard time getting geared, because unlike the guild, the pug always have people needing items, and You’ll always have competition.

The loot system a guild uses matters only if You want to get geared as fast as possible, and are looking for a sytem that enables that.

I’m sure people will love when LC decides who deserves Shadowmourne.

Nah, if anything DKP is the way to do it. That proves your dedication and you get rewarded for invested time and there is no human bias.

Personally I think the best loot system is keeping all Items till the end of the raid, then running away with them all. You get the gear you want and tears to sustain your youth. All for the low cost of £9 to rename your character.

perform the best cause you have the best gear
keep receiving the best gear
rich getting richer syndrom

Keep telling yourself that the reason you parse 50 logs is cause of gear and not a skill issue.
